SU3 and sound stutters are back

Featured Replies

I thought I'd sorted the sound stutter problem...uninstalled everything except my actual speakers for sound.

SU3 comes around and sound stutters are back! I thought MS / Asobo were aware of this and sorting?

AMD Ryzen™ 9 9900X3D, AM5, Zen 5, 12 Core, 24 Threads, 4.4GHz, 5.5GHz Turbo
64GB (2x32GB) DDR5 6000MHz Corsair Vengeance
32GB GeForce® RTX 5090 Graphics Card

Same thing has been happening with me on 2020, feels like since su16. Sound will randomly cut out for a second or so, so freaking annoying

It's an issue with the way the sim loads in the data from the servers. It's really bad in heavy PG areas like LA and Tokyo. There's nothing we can do about it, it's on the team to fix it and from what I read they know what the issue is and it'll be addressed in SU4.

So presumably downloading affected areas in SU3 should fix it?

It's gotten better for me if I use the max frame rate to what my SIM can output. For example, in a complex airliner at KJFK, my sim can give me a native of 70 GPS. In a less stressful situation, the simulator gives me around 90 FPS. So I set the max frame rate to 68, and then turn it on to my desired setting if I use Frame Generation. Right now, I am using X4. It's made a huge difference in stuttering, and I experience audio popping. The other thing that helped was setting a negative curve on my CPU. It helped prevent those main thread spikes that caused the stuttering.

Yes, I set my negative curve to -20 on my 9800X3D earlier, and it seems to have fixed the audio stutters. I’ll need to do a few more flights to confirm 100%, but so far I haven’t had any issues flying out of heavy PG areas.

It didn't make a difference. I would get the spikes.

That's a big jump from where I'm at.  What is your CPU/GPU and how are you configured in 2024 for graphic settings, screen res, TLOD, etc?

Yes audio pops are back on my AMD 9900X3D. Yes seems to be in PG areas as if I turn PG off they dissappear..

May try the OC Curve.

Annoying as they had vabished I thought.

Have you checked the fps visualization in developer mode? Are they connected with CoherentGTUI / Manipulators spikes by any chance?

I have this issue, minus the audio stutters but the game is not playable anyway:

I have a 7900X3D with a RTX5090 and 64GB RAM GSKILL at 6800mhz. I use AUTOFPS with it going from 100 to 400 TLOD. I have an Odyssey Ark it runs 3160x2180 at 120HZ

Must be the 5090 as my CPU is stronger than yours, but those numbers are WAY higher than I would have expected and see at KJFK in something like Fenix A320.  When you quoted those FPS numbers are engines, avionics, nav all setup and is anything else running like BATC, FSLTL, etc?  I will say SU3 is running wonderfully overall with exquisite sharpness secondary to the regedit hack modifying NVCP's sharpness options.  All that said coming into EHAM earlier today rate got down to 38 or so but w/ Gsync it wasn't too bad.
