2020 still has its fans

No worries..."I'm sticking with 2020" comes off as more offensive and is a better excuse to be divisive and tribal apparently.🤣

How is choosing a better platform considered "tribalism" exactly ? Seems to me you're the one being 'divisive' here.

  • Yes, I am one of them but I don't need YT videos to confirm my personal decision nor do I need to start posts to receive affirmation of my decisions or argue with others who choose a different sim...

  • Another pointless thread only started to cause trouble. Enjoy whatever sim you like, and let others do the same.

  • Bob, you’re bordering childish now, come on. Do you really need to add fire to this tribalism?    you’re adding to what makes avsim tiresome at times, both sides keep doing this spat at one ano

So you're a MSFS 2024 user who still isn't satisfied with the state of MSFS 2024 and prefers MSFS2020 for now...got it!🙃

Thanks for proving my point....

You own MSFS 2024?🙃

Yes or No?

Trying to reason with you is like talking to a concrete block. Total waste of time. 😁

My grandpa would never behave this way over an airplane video game😁

OOOOoooOOOO let me create a bait thread and show those pesky MSFS 2024 whipper snappers a thing or two about the better airplane pixels.🤣

But no go on Mr. Bobsk8! Live it up!!! You live it up bud!!!!🍻

Because "better platform" is entirely subjective. We have fierce advocates for each sim, and anyone saying anything positive about "the other sim" or negative about "their sim" is an affix the bayonets moment. But we get "I'm sticking with" in a lot of threads. Bob for a while with any iFLY post was "I'm sticking with PMDG." We see it when a new scenery comes out "I'm sticking with the one I have."

Some of this is just the nature of human discourse and also the somewhat combative interactions happen on AVSIM (and Reddit, to be fair). It seems daily we get a thread (or more) on Reddit with something like "2020 still looks good." I'd be lying if I said I don't have these types of conversations I have on some Discords. The difference is the one I am on a lot we are good friends, most in RL.

I wish more people (myself included), don't look at MSFS as a glass half empty, or spilled on the ground. If people want to stay with 2020, good for them. 2020 is still a good platform where folks can fly all their planes on. For people all-in on 2024, good for them. I'm glad you are happy.

If people feel people are trying to convince them to go to 24, well so what? You are the final arbiter on what sim you want to fly. I also wouldn't even worry about what MS may do to 2020. The future is not guaranteed for any of us. No one gets out of here alive. So live in the moment and fly the sim that sparks joy.

Myself, I float between them. I am also a guitar player and rather than look at things my Strat can't do my Les Paul can, I enjoy what each guitar is good at.

Let's not shift the goalpost. Your beef was with people saying they uninstalled 2020. You're taking examples from this thread when you know people are pushing back against Bob's antics lol. My point is we can't act like all of this is one-sided.

There's no goal post to shift on what's actually apparent here Krakin, these are some of the very users who bragged about quickly uninstalling 2020 off of their computers the minute 2024 released. You have Bob who's simply up to his regular troll mischief then you have certain MSFS 2024 users ( some happy with it's current state and some not) being triggered by Bob's antics and deciding to punch down upon MSFS 2020 the prior sim that Bob favors. Bob has already admitted to not even owning MSFS 2024, yet judging by the replies in this thread and Bob's antics aside there are surely some underlying genuine ill feelings going on toward MSFS2020. Would you call a user who actually owns both sims but still considers MSFS2020 to be superior such as ypaul123's replies offensive, divisive or tribal? Where are the " MS2024 should be shut down and discontinued" posts?

Let's not decide to ignore the genuine criticism of a user who owns both sims such as ypaul123, but solely focus on Bob's blind invalid criticism of a sim he doesn't even own. Keep the same energy🙃

This goes both ways and lets not forget there's also a population of simmers here who now can't stand either sim from past and current bad experiences who will punch down on both given the opportunity depending on the SU.

This topic will be locked if it carries on like this. Why do some people have such difficulty in accepting the opinion of others?

No, I’ve decided there’s no point in further discussion. Go and have a fly in your favoured sim.

The only thing about this thread that bothers me is the its/it's typo in the title.

That wayward apostrophe is like a hot butter knife through my brain. 🙂

But on topic. Use the sim you like.

I’ve sorted that for you. I feel the same. 😁
