I missed the 'horrific control binding experience'.

I dunno why.

I'll put my hands up here; I'm a cretin generally but I didn't have any problem with setting up my controls in 2024. I have a yoke, pedals and separate throttle unit. I fly tubes and GA. Never had a problem with control bindings....

FWIW, I’m a 40+ year Flight Simulation veteran and I found the 2024 control bindings to be quite daunting at first.  The dramatic shift from look and feel of 2020 was a completely unnecessary and unforced error on Asobo’s part IMO.  YMMV. TANSTAAFL.

  • Yes, I am one of them but I don't need YT videos to confirm my personal decision nor do I need to start posts to receive affirmation of my decisions or argue with others who choose a different sim...

  • Another pointless thread only started to cause trouble. Enjoy whatever sim you like, and let others do the same.

  • Bob, you’re bordering childish now, come on. Do you really need to add fire to this tribalism?    you’re adding to what makes avsim tiresome at times, both sides keep doing this spat at one ano

Not to forget all the flak ASOBO took for the OG UI.  Or can it all be retracted now since we now have a new UI to beat up on?

Simmers - sheesh!

I said this before: Asobo and Microsoft should stop supporting MSFS 2020. It's a deprecated version.

They should throw all their resources behind MSFS 2024.

Thats unlikely to happen! MSFS (2020 version) is still sold in the Microsoft Store (as a one off purchase). Most countries have consumer laws that require a product to function as described/promoted/intended for a reasonable lifetime after a purchase. In my country that would be considered at the minimum being 5 years.

MSFS 2020 and 2024 are are now essentially different application layers fed by a common datasource (the digital twin). Many users of 2020 consider their application layer to be mature, and there are many calls in the Microsoft forums for the developers not to make any further changes to the 2020 application layer due to the risk of the developers "messing up" the working sim - most of the current complaints from 2020 users relating to the digital twin quality rather than the MSFS2020 application layer itself.

Typo fix

MS/Asobo should be very happy to keep fs2020 for the foreseeable future. It is a beautiful and very stable platform and supports many of the same aircraft and scenery as 2024 and also supports aircraft and scenery that are not compatible with fs2024. This gives them the ability to use fs2024 as a sandbox to continue development while users have a stable platform to use. Clearly, there are many that want the latest and greatest even if it is still very buggy. I'm sure that eventually 2024 will reach a decent maturity and will be the fall back for the next iteration (if FS survives to see that day). So, it is a feature, not a bug, that both platforms live side by side. It really shouldn't matter to anyone what another person chooses to use. Why would you care?

I've been convinced that streaming is the way to go.  Wrong thread same sentiment.

Yeah streaming is the way to go when you are watching movies or live sports on Netflix or Prime video but not so much like running a so called flight simulator and getting blurry textures and major stutters when trying to land a complex on Vatsim and a addon like iFly B737max or a Fenix A320 on touchdown. Streaming maybe good if you fly slow GA planes but thats about it.

There's a lot of b***hurt going around 🙂 (whether it's those who're weirdly insecure in their continued preference for 2020 or other sims, or have a weird b***hurt towards Asobo), etc... and yes there truly are those who want 2024 to fail. Unfortunately for them, said hurt is only going to continue and increase.

For those who prefer 2020 or other sims and/or those who hate 2024 for whatever reasons: be happy in your use of those other sims without feeling the need to always deride MSFS 2024 or bringing up 2024 or letting it live rent-free in your heads 🙂. I mean it's comical, but also cringe.

Not like it matters...we will ALL be sharing the same forum section here forever.🤣

The whole "separate forum section" idea falls on deaf ears here with staff.

You'll never escape Mr. Bobsk8 and his toxic immature 2020 vs 2024 tribal baiting tactics now!!!

Never!!!!!!!!!!! muhahahahamuuaahahaa😛

Well i did some further testing

Reinstalled the latest nvidia driver.

If i leave dx11 on and TAA its fine no ctd on start up..

If i go into settings and change to dlss and stay on dx11 its fine whilst i am in the sim.

Once i close the sim and restart i get ctd .

Then the only way to get back into sim is to set dx12 via the user CFG

Now is it the latest dlss causing this issue?

Yep, the issue will start once the sim is restarted.

But why people would feel so insecure about a computer game is beyond me.

Explain to us why you do then, as you are constantly trying to to convince everyone, or yourself, that 2024 is massively different to the your average casual flight simmer...it isn't. I got 2024 few weeks ago and went to what i did with 2020, flying over my house etc well known spots I've visited, and it got boring real quick because most look the same as 2020.

I use flight sim about 2 hours over a week now, so really i was silly getting 2024. My mistake and I'll deal with it....

It does, and not everyone buying these games likes to sit for 6 hours on auto pilot pretending to be an airline pilot. Most just want good visuals and the fly around having fun.... 2020 does that. Its not hard to own 2024 you just need 60 quid and a steam account..... why do you act like only a select few can own it and your one of them?
