Looking at Steam charts as a base there's around 40-42% more daily users of 2020 still than 2024.

People hate statistics and will do anything to say they are  wrong.

  • Yes, I am one of them but I don't need YT videos to confirm my personal decision nor do I need to start posts to receive affirmation of my decisions or argue with others who choose a different sim...

  • Another pointless thread only started to cause trouble. Enjoy whatever sim you like, and let others do the same.

  • Bob, you’re bordering childish now, come on. Do you really need to add fire to this tribalism?    you’re adding to what makes avsim tiresome at times, both sides keep doing this spat at one ano

That's quite a generalization. If certain statistics point out more folks use another sim, as a user solely playing MSFS 2024 nowadays, I couldn't care less, let alone hate it 😉 I bet most of us don't care if their preferred sim is the most popular, or not. It seems like you do?

Tell that to IniBuilds.

Statistics was my favorite class in college.  You can believe them or not but being relevant is more important.

Since I use 2024 and Windows store, well you get the picture.

I think the people using 2024 are using for the 'career' mode. That was the big draw that everyone couldn't wait to use. They could rescue little Johnny from a cliff in helicopter and score points. At least I hope everyone is using it after all the development resources used in developing it and the promoting it as a key reason to switch over. That and being able to see a single blade of grass.

I wonder how many MSFS20 users purchased MSFS24, and then decided to go back.

If I had the time to invest in swapping out my MSFS24 for MSFS20, I would do it for now. But ultimately, I figure that I would come back to MSFS24 after a few more sim updates. For now, I just have to deal with the botched flight planner / EFB / Website planner and neglected default planes, and enjoy it for what I can get out of it until better days.

But I can certainly understand why there is still a huge MSFS20 user base.

Oh well. Its Friday and I am in a good mood.

So Delete.

Ahhh cant help myself

Both are good

2020 is of course mature. Took it 2 years after launch to get that way.

2024 is close and after only 9 months.

Have not touched 2020 in 3 months, but at times I've felt like going back.

Right now, I am very happy with 2024.

Keeping my fingers crossed that it stays that way

MSFS 2024 -Too many airplanes to name. Too many airports to name.

Of course people are playing an older game.  Civilization 7 came out recently, yet many people play the earlier games back to 5 and maybe even 4.

People in the Battlefield community play older games all the time.

MS is keeping both sims going for a reason.  Play what you enjoy the most.  I definitely do.

These forums show a disturbing pattern of tribalism every time a new sim platform is introduced.

P3D platform comes along.....

New P3D adapters would come into the FSX forums to express.... Ewww yuck FSX is gross why are you all still using that broken outdated junk of software and still buying addons for it??

FSX users are now frowned upon and met with a certain passive aggression for still wanting to enjoy the older sim.

MSFS platform comes along....

New MSFS 2020 adapters would then come into both FSX and P3D forums to express... Ewww yuck FSX and P3D are gross why are you all still using that broken outdated junk of software and buying addons for them.

FSX and P3D users are now frowned upon and met with a certain passive aggression for still being attached and wanting to enjoy the older sims!

MSFS 2024 platform comes along and the adapters have to let you know in every thread that MSFS 2024 is the future and such a superior platform that it deserves its own separate forums from the inferior MSFS 2020 platform.

Ewww yucky can't believe people are still using MSFS 2020 it looks like FSX at this point!

No...no...no..even FS98 looks better Ewwwww!🤔

Then you have the particular insufferable " I hate change, VR, fun DLC content, new Microsoft/ Asobo culture and everything in life that's new" user population here who wish they could go back to the days of FS98!🤣

Oh yeah, I play a modded Civ4 to this day.  Haven't even looked at 7, I gotta admit

And what's with these "I brushed my teeth today" threads?  So someone flies 2020, that's nice to know I guess?

Slow news day?

Must Be.

Another YouTuber with HIS opinion. He should just come over here to AvSim for to put forth his vast knowledge about the game.

The YouTube nonsense isn't going to convince many to continue to use 2020 when 2024 is getting better all the time and is the future like it or not.

Seems more like a back to the future video.

Incorrect. MSFS 2024 is the present. The future is MSFS 2028, and maybe.......just maybe, some people will decide to skip the present, and wait for the future

For those using FS2020, I started it yesterday for the first time in a long time.  I am getting some strange sound effects in the cockpit.  Does anyone know what causes this.  I made sure both sound inputs reflected my headset.

thanks,

Mike

A correction, if I may. He isn't just "another YouTuber". He is a working A320 captain and he was just expressing his opinion on why he prefers 2020 for his airliner flying and why he uses 2024 for his scenic flights.

No bias, no hate.
