2020 still has its fans

why do you act like only a select few can own it and your one of them?

It's a coping mechanism to make one feel better about a decision over the other...

Remember these are the same users who just had to let you know they'd completely uninstalled MSFS 2020, as if anyone asked nor cared!

it's a simple obsessive compulsive tribal behavior over silly video game pixels that can quickly turn toxic.

You are correct it's weird and silly this kind of division can happen over the continuation of a software title under the same developer brand.

Now XP12 vs MSFS is one thing, but MSFS 2020 vs 2024 is indeed quite silly and trivial to catch feelings over.

We are no longer simply witnessing brand loyalist and elitism...its now turned into software version/series continuation loyalists and elitism.

Neglected mental health and loneliness are par for the course considering, well... the age group demographic of Avsim alone.

Just how grandpa had an emotional attachment to his model train set hobby or favorite baseball team...now just imagine new age digital flight sim software pixels and flight sim hardware setups.

Same basic human behavior...new technology wave and evolution of superficial material things 💡

  • Bob, you’re bordering childish now, come on. Do you really need to add fire to this tribalism?    you’re adding to what makes avsim tiresome at times, both sides keep doing this spat at one ano

I'm retired so can fly everyday.  But like my personal information I no longer reveal my sim of choice.

More fun that way. 😄

Interesting video. I now have a better understanding of your preference for MSFS2020 over MSFS2024 (FYI, still use both, with a strong preference for 2024). But one comment I find curious -- you say that GA flying in small planes is "just fooling around", but airliner flying is "serious". What is the rationale for that statement? These terms might better describe simulated vs. real-life aviation, as opposed to small vs. large aircraft.

I missed the 'horrific control binding experience'.

I dunno why.

I'll put my hands up here; I'm a cretin generally but I didn't have any problem with setting up my controls in 2024. I have a yoke, pedals and separate throttle unit. I fly tubes and GA. Never had a problem with control bindings....

I don’t have 24 so I can’t speak to it personally but apparently during sim update 3, 24 would not always save the bindings correctly and some streamers were constantly having to rebind controls.  Glad it worked for you but I saw how challenging it was for them and that kept me away.

The one constant of both 2020 and 2024 seems to be how people with the same set ups, the same hardware, can have radically different experiences...🤷‍♂️

Knock it off already, 2020 isn't going anywhere...

Just enjoy whichever airplane game version/platform you desire without the false prophecies.

Ok, lol, 2020 will be around for ages.  Every developer will make sure their products are designed for it.   There, feel better?

That's the thing 11bee, I don't need to feel better about my sim choice by constantly grasping at a need to doom & gloom a prior sim I've moved on from... YOU DO!

We get it....you're gonna get off on that "gotcha told you so" moment when MSFS2020 is all of a sudden shut down and discontinued next month!🤣

I'll simply hop on Steam and buy 2024, while you conjure up a new animosity filled argument of "No..no..no...don't you MSFS 2020 users come crawling over here now WE DON'T WANT YOU!

See 11bee we have your mentality all figured out because it's just so toxic its pretty predictable at this point, but it's cool we know you can't help it🙃

I love how those who claim to be the happiest sticking with what they have are also so hypersensitive about needing to defend that choice. Does it really help you feel better, screaming it to everyone? Nobody who uses 2024 is here getting hysterical about choosing to do so, only those who use 2020. Says a lot, really.

The only thing about this thread that bothers me is the its/it's typo in the title.

That wayward apostrophe is like a hot butter knife through my brain. 🙂

But on topic. Use the sim you like.

I notice you've said a lot but not once have you addressed people who go out of their way to doom and gloom the new sim, over exaggerate it's issues and flaunt how much better they think the old one is. For every "I'm deleting 2020", you had 10 "I'm sticking with 2020".

Besides the OP's usual tribal shenanigans, the worst I've read about MSFS2024 are from actual 2024 users who are generally upset from their experiences and issues with SU3.

"I'm sticking with 2020" is supposed to mean what exactly? That's supposed to be offensive as ' MSFS2020 needs to be shut down and discontinued" " or "yea I remember MSFS 2020 as old and outdated as FS98"

Where are all these bitter toxic users speaking bad upon and over exaggerating issues about MSFS 2024 the sim they don't even own yet, besides Mr. Bobsk8?🙃

Make this make sense Krakin.🤣

FS2020 is superior to 2024.

Maybe within a year from now,  the tables will turn.

No worries..."I'm sticking with 2020" comes off as more offensive and is a better excuse to be divisive and tribal apparently.🤣

Let's not shift the goalpost. Your beef was with people saying they uninstalled 2020. You're taking examples from this thread when you know people are pushing back against Bob's antics lol. My point is we can't act like all of this is one-sided.
