  • I've updated four of my liveries 🙂 https://flightsim.to/profile/TimHH

  • Such incredible addons... so nice to have both Dukes back in 2024!  With GTNxi bezels and headphone simulation - icing on the cake!

  • Finally had a chance to fly the Grand Duke today to try out the new update.  Nice to have a few niggles cleaned up, like the oil viscosity in the left engine mirroring the right which messed up pre-oi

Are there some paths in the manifest.json or some similar file that need to be changed?  Is that what is involved?

No they need to be converted to the new file format.  And since 2024 Dynamic reg is broken we'd need to add custom hand painted registrations

I've had a good innings with painting but I've now hung up my brushes. The fun went out of it.

Yeah it's tedious.  The fun is being sucked out of me too.  Especially with the default aircraft.  The work involved just to get a 3d paintable model ready is time consuming.

If it's a 3rd party aircraft sometimes it can still have a basic layout doable in 2d but even that's going by the way side.

Well you're a step or three up the ladder than me. The rot set in with Blender. I knew my days were numbered. 🤣

  > You sure about that Ryan? After updating the TBM-850 yesterday, Dynamic reg is working for me in 2024 using the option on the tablet. I have not downloaded the Duke updates yet, but we might want to check on the Dynamic Registrations before deciding that they are still fully broken.

  > Unfortunately for me as well. Even with the conversion tool, I am out of business with 2024 repaints because it still requires the 2024 SDK to convert the textures, and I can not install the SDK because I am still on Win10 (at least I presume that is why I cant install it). Sad, because that was one of the most enjoyable parts of FS in the past. Too bad they don't offer an ability for backwards compatibility, like they promised they would. 😞

Actually you can work around the sdk and just use the free nvidia texture tool to just open the dds and save as ktx2. Works fine also. But you still have to copy over and adapt the rest like the json files etc.

But yeah I'm with the rest here. Did paints for a very long time but fun is something different nowadays.

That doesn't work.  At least when I tried.  Maybe they updated the texture tool.

When aircraft add-ons like this one are described as MSFS 2024 compatible, does that mean it works in FS24, but it only takes advantage of the FS20 SDK or does it indicate that it takes full advantage of the updated flight model, etc.?

Thanks.

@Tim-HH Thanks Tim for updating the liveries. If you are contemplating doing more, let me put in a special request for the modern elegance of N422SB.

@ryanbatc And Ryan, any chance of your wonderfully lively N2889W?

😎

Probably eventually.  Life is so busy these days.  I almost never get to actually fly the sim.  (Usually TimHH and I joke about "flying" Substance painter)

Hello,

I have just installed last version 1.2 but is it normal i have just 2 liveries for Duke piston stock N28HD and N43DH? It seems there was much more liveries in 1.1! Do you have the same? For Duke piston Grand Duke i have 5 liveries N18VK, N122SP, N321JF, N339CL, N440CM

Thanks to tell me if it is normal for only 2 liveries Duke piston stock N28HD and N43DH..and 5 liveries for Grand Duke..

Jérôme Dietsch

That's correct.

I've only kept the Grand Duke and only one livery. Same for the Turbine. One is a 'plenty.
