September 26, 2025Sep 26 Not another 737 or Airbus though. I have been looking at the different Embraer jets by X-Craft, but then came across the E-195 by FPS that look interesting. I had the BAe-146 in MSFS so may consider that, but I could do with some comments from those who have any version of the Embraer jets. September 26, 2025Sep 26 If you want short range and high fidelity and Not Just Another Twin Jet, it's hard to argue with the FJS Q400. Personally, I'm holding off on the XC E Jets for their ERJ v2, which is getting towards the finish line and should release "soon". In the meantime, I have a tremendous amount of fun in the TS CitationJet 525. p.s. Thranda did a GREAT job updating the BAe-146 for XP 12! Edited September 26, 2025Sep 26 by UrgentSiesta
September 26, 2025Sep 26 Jet or Turboprop? Payware or Freeware? These are a few that I have collected for XPlane over time and all are in my sim Hangar. Some get flown a lot others hardly at all depends what I am doing with the sim really. JETS PAYWARE: I have the XCraft Embraer E170 - very nice aeroplane model, good systems, flight fidelity seems good, textures etc well done. Did not look at it's stretched variants the 175 or 195. AP and FMS take a little time to get used to. Not everyone uses the Embraer so limited paints and skins for them. Also have the ERJ E145LR and XP by X-Craft needs updating and a mod is available to fix a few things, again nice aeroplane model, good systems etc, Update and modernisation fixes are in the works so look forward to that one. The BAE146 by JF is also a good short to medium range airliner. Takes a while to get used to with its British idiosynchrosies such as switch logic etc and systems but again a high quality model. The Rotate MD80 is excellent and could be classed as a short range bird. The default Laminar MD80 is of course there as well just down a notch in terms of systems to the Rotate, Tollis A319 could be classed as a short range airliner, typical high quality Tollis Airbus. Same comment goes for the IXEG B737-300 while a bigger aeroplane it was used a lot in real life on some very short routes. High quality slow with updates but no issues in XP12 at all. There is also PilotNL's Sud Aviation Caravelle this is still a work in progress and not for the casual simmer - has great potential and is very quirky, antiquated and French. Again a short to medium range jet! JETS FREEWARE: Shensee's B720B could be classed as short range - that is why Boeing built it short to medium range with B707 capacity inside - very high quality model in all aspects (payware level quality), highly recommended if your into old jets. Cannot think of any others in the pure jet range. TURBOPROPS Payware varieties are in short supply so only the FJS Dash8 400 meets the criteria although there is the Carenado Fokker F50 which with some available mods can be got going nicely without issues in XP12. If you happy with less visual quality then cannot go past the Manky Dash 8's 100/200 and 300 series all available, very impressive freeware models still being improved and developed but very nice if your into Dash 8's. There is a Dornier 328 freeware is there as well nicely done but a bit primitive in the visuals inside but systems wise and fidelity very well done as well. Starving Pilots Metroliner freeware orginally XP11 works fine in XP12 again very nicely done. No upgrades alas for other reasons. Quite a few lesser freeware models about depends on your needs or taste, as is usual with some nicely done to a point but lack either systems or other bits and pieces you take granted with payware models like the Flyingtak F27 or Lockheed Electra L188 (Happy to have them in my hangar but accept they will never be brought up to payware level for a variety of reasons) PISTONS There is of course the venerable DC3 or C-47 the freeware AWX is first class then there is VSkylabs C-47 payware, If your into old pistons! The OlixSim Lockheed Lodestar if your want to go back in time short to medium range but excellent quality and depth - first class old piston airliner really. Or the Lockheed L12 a smaller earlier Lockheed airliner from the 1930s - excellent freeware model is available. IF you want to really go back in time then Hangar 43's Bellanca Airbus an early 1930s single engine airliner is now freeware - probably sets the standard for visuals and systems but again a quirky aeroplane from the early days of aviation. You could put the XHangar Short Skyvan into this group built as a short range short field airliner very nicely done by XHangar a turboprop and payware. Maybe some others I have missed but that is about it as far as I can tell. Edited September 26, 2025Sep 26 by coastaldriver

September 27, 2025Sep 27 Non of the EJets I was satisfied, I would prefer Feelthere EJets V3 in old P3Dv5 for that matter. Xcraft's next update looks promising, but not yet landed, on the other hand unless FPS ditch UFMC and start new one from sketch, it's already what the best they can do with it (currently I'd say about same level as XCraft) If you try to migrate from MSFS to XP, then Bae146 is the pick, but if you plan to have both, I don't see much point to buy it again, essentially the same while not have UNS-1. I'm not sure how you define "Airliner", but I have a lot fun with Thranda PC12, not "yet another FL300-300kts thing" for sure. One short haul airliner I have downloaded yet to explore is Tu134, although I regularly fly Tu154.

I'm with you unfortunately and regret having purchased ... Thankfully by the same time I purchased the XAviation cj 525 which was really rewarding... Also have the BAe 146 but haven't had time to explore it. September 27, 2025Sep 27 Does anyone use the Cerenado Cessna 208 Caravan in XP12? It’s only XP11 in the store but I would sure like a Caravan. Vic green
