The Law of unintended consequences. 🤨 You wonder how long companies like Imgur can last if this continues.

Do you mean for a website, like from a US based news outlet?

I've had that happen from Germany. It's strange. It may have something to do with cookies policies.

From an AI generated search:
The EU and UK block US websites due to different legal and regulatory requirements, including data privacy (like the EU's GDPR) and child safety laws (like the UK's Online Safety Act), which US publishers may not comply with, opting to block access instead of reconfiguring their sites. Some US sites also restrict access due to licensing agreements for their content, making it available only in specific regions.

Yes, here on AvSim. But we’re not in the EU any longer so that rule shouldn’t apply. It’s started in the last 10 days.

Maybe @Bob Scottcan cast some light on it.

It's strange. The thing I looked at applied to EU and UK though, if you see the part in italics (maybe some others as well).

Anyway, Avsim is fine for me, but I've seen it on local news sites on occasion. I used to have a VPN with my anti-virus up until recently, but have cancelled it. A free VPN might work too though.

It's shown between posts in the forums. I can't be any more specific since I only see this message. The box it's contained in is much larger.

It needs someone to identify the placeholder.

Not to worry, though, as all this is for our own good, and for the children, of course.  It has nothing to do with more control or censorship, the powers that be promise us this and we should trust them.😉

It's imgur.
There are linked images all over the internet that are permanently no longer visible to UK based users.
If you want to know where an image is hosted, you only need to copy the image address and paste it into
Notepad.
Like this: https://i.imgur.com/xPOm25l.jpeg

Which for us, now looks like this:

xPOm25l.jpeg

Of course, there are plenty of ways round this.
