December 16, 2025Dec 16 When a person passes away here it's pretty much expected and not much grief is shown unless they were especially close to you. Pat was the lady who lived in the apartment across the hall from me. We became pretty close friends. I taught her how to play Scrabble and she was a very lucky and skilled poker player. When she started going downhill the director of Peachtree asked me to look after her. I made sure she got up in the morning and I monitored her oxygen machines and made sure she was on oxygen all the time. When one of the staff went into her room to give her prescription pills she would refuse to take them. I would go into her room and ask her to take them. She said she would take them for me. I made sure she went to the dining room for her meals. A month or so ago she was hospitalized. The director here would drive me to the hospital to visit her until she couldn't function or recognize anybody anymore. Then her son had her moved to San Antonio where he lived. She died yesterday afternoon. She's out of her hospital bed now but it saddens me to lose a good friend. We seldom make close friendships here but Pat and I became very close. Noel The tires are worn. The shocks are shot. The steering is wobbly. But the engine still runs fine.
December 16, 2025Dec 16 Sorry for your loss. Her soul will live on and you can cherish your memories knowing she is in peace and will be "with you" always.
December 16, 2025Dec 16 My condolences Noel. Tough losing someone close at any age. I'm sure she is in a better place with other friends and family. She was lucky to have you as a friend Noel. Tom Tom MAKA = Make America Kind Again

December 28, 2025Dec 28 I lost a very dear friend to pancreatic cancer in the autumn - I didn't grasp how much she meant to me until I felt the pain of her absence. I think I know how you feel, Noel. Surely not everybody was kung fu fighting. https://rationalwiki.org
