Cessna 404 Titan

Does anyone fly this plane regularly? I like it but when I click on the autopilot switch it won't toggle on. It's completely dead. Is there a switch or something I need to depress beforehand?

Thanks Turbomax!!!

It's a typical carenado.  It's okay-ish.

If you want a better twin there are some good options.

Flysimware C414 - not super in depth but superb sounds, decent flight model and very true to life look of the cockpit and airplane overall

Black Square Dukes/Barons - a lot more in depth - maybe a ever so slight downgrade for textures (they're just really clean - favoring easier to read gauges etc vs worn) - still with amazing sounds of course

A2A Piper Aerostar - not as "capable" as the C414 or Dukes/Baron but down low probably the fastest, and great cockpit visibility.   Probably the best flight model of the three.

All 3 also have excellent avionics selection.

You really just need them all!

Is that the old "Not study Level." 🙂

I’d add the Cows DA42 to Ryan’s list.

i910900k, RTX 3090, 32GB DDR4 RAM, AW3423DW, Ruddy girt big mug of Yorkshire Tea

I have all of these and just can never fly them haha. I always end up in the Fenix. That plane just has something about it.

BTW, isn't the sim really amazing now? Perfectly smooth, it's a real pleasure to fire it up. I can safely say I've never had such a smooth experience in any sim.

That's a beautiful plane. Thanks Carenado.

I have the 414 so wouldn't dream of it.

yes lol - well it's default - none are kinda with the exception of the C700

Oh my gosh I always forget this one.  Superb flight model and sounds.  I'm just not a huge G1000 guy.  So I rarely fly my copy

Ewww.  The only way I'd ever fly that would be with an ACJ livery haha.  And then even so it's an airliner.  I can make an exception for the 737 as I prefer the avionics but I'll only ever fly it as a BBJ.

Pure GA then? I go back and forth. I like all the high quality planes we have these days.

And an analogue snob it seems.

Prefering unreliable old tech over state of the art, reliable and easy to use avionics is certainly a mood. 😉

and here is another one. at least in a simulator.

in reality I always had a few Garmins in the analog cockpit, that's the best combo for me.

Oh irl I love glass.  But in the sim the analog with a mix of glass is the best!  For instance the TBM 850 from black square, has the best panel I've seen.  Everything right up front for the pilot with a little glass and some round thingys!

I'm veering off topic but I've not been able to get into the airliners...  I have the CRJ v2 (it's pretty good actually but I just rarely fly it), I tried the FBW A320 and A380 - I know a lot of people really love the buses, but I just don't like how the MCDU works - it feels backwards to me.  And the Boeing planes just look way better.  With the exception of the A350 - I think for a big phatty, it's a nice looking bird lol!  I almost bought the ini A350 on sale but I don't think I'd fly it much.  Really it's a time constraint issue.  Flying a airliner for 2-3 hours is just dead boring to me.  I prefer hour hops (or less) in a semi fast GA like the Duke, Baron, TBM, Aerostar, even the RV8 from SWS is fun.  Plus you can explore far more airports in those little planes.  In an airliner you're almost always going to a huge class B primary airport (or occasionally a regional airport).  The CRJ from Aerosoft would go into smaller uncontrolled airports from time to time.  So I've actually flown that one a bit.
