January 7Jan 7 I don't specifically remember reading about this new(?) feature, but just saw examples posted for the updated KDEN payware. This is stunningly good! Anyone know other sceneries making use of it? "Lastly, while it's the smallest change, it's arguably one of the most noticeable: All the windows use X-Plane 12's new glass properties! This means no more blending artifacts, and finally we have proper glass reflections!!! Next to normal map decals, this is one of the most exciting improvements for scenery X-Plane has implemented in a long time, and the results are fantastic! (Coincidently, it also makes my job alot easier when it comes to configuring windows)"

January 7Jan 7 Even the windows in the default building facades have these reflections. 7950X3D + 7900 XT + 64 GB + Linux | 4800H + RTX2060 + 32 GB + Linux My add-ons from my FS9/FSX days

Is this an official survey of “most” 😉 … using your same logic, then why have textures or any detail at all … just a square primitive block with a dock/gate number would be enough to just make sure one doesn’t run into something and parks at the correct location. Pretty sure Austin is all for “as real as it gets” or we would have never seen any improvements over the decades. 23 hours ago, UrgentSiesta said: saw the update post on the .org news list Purchased and installed latest version 2.3.1 … the manual includes a link to a site that no longer exists for a “dependency” … so I went with openSAM and removed SAM along with other requirements (Library etc.) and crossed my fingers. OMG XPlane world makes it painful to install and uninstall stuff (just copy this, then copy that, oh and then edit ini but make sure you place it in the correct order, we don’t know what that order should be so you’ll just have to guess and try it and see) … I guess they don’t expect people to have a lot of scenery and plug-ins and just remember everything they installed so they can uninstall as needed (xOrganizer really doesn’t help, just adds more confusion and still reliant of guessing what needs to be above whom and when). I know, I’ve brought this up before and the usual response is ”man up” … time is not on my side so no I don’t want to have to think about my installation, I just want it installed and working and easy ability to uninstall if it isn’t working 🙂 And before anyone goes on about comparing to other sims and say it’s the same … two or three wrongs don’t make a right. Can’t tell you how many people have approached me saying they abandoned their flight sim of choice (this is for all platforms) because of add-on issues. Can’t keep just ignoring this problem. I’m seeing A LOT of AA issues with this KDEN version (and I have AA maxed out) … need to investigate. I'm with you 100%. TBH, this is another reason I'm such a fan of Orbx. They've done a GREAT job enforcing a file nomenclature on their sceneries such that I've never had a layering problem with just Orbx scenery. And I will say xOrganizer has been a TREMENDOUS help for me. I'd say it easily handles (or uncovers) more than 75% of any scenery issues, and fixes most of them automagically. One thing that made the last 25% "click" for me was using the profiles/sets(?) to focus just on specific regions of scenery. I.e., Only addons for a single area (e.g. Hawaii). And yeah, sometimes you still have to figure out one or two relative layer adjustments (e.g., z-Global Forests needs to be higher than X-America even tho it alpha sorts lower). But doing just one area, focused around just one airport, and getting THAT right is what did it for me in general. Once I did that, and figured out that you can Lock the sort order of subcategories, it's now a breeze 🙂 But yeah, it's still a right PITA - far more than should be necessary this far into the 21st Century!

January 8Jan 8 1 hour ago, SayAgain said: Pretty sure Austin is all for “as real as it gets” Sure but where are the limits and priorities? It's the xbox and tr0ll crowds that drive the need for these higher fidelity terminal and cabin models. What a waste of time and developer effort. Though the glass itself would certainly benefit the acft externals, there is ZERO need to be able to peek into the terminal glass looking for a 3d model of a toddler smearing his nose on the window as you punch in your waypoints. None. Let alone the check-in desks and luggage carousels. Waste. What's really funny is the acft cabin demands. They throw tantrums about having high fidelity bathrooms and then immediately set a saved quick view of what?? THE VIEW OUT THE WINDOW LOOKING AT THE WING! Mind blown. Digital waste. 1 hour ago, SayAgain said: A LOT of AA issues with this KDEN version It's the sim not you or the scenery. And a testament to what it's capable of texture-wise. X-Codr doesn't bother trying to play games with texture and models to artificially smooth things out to help the AA situation. He's just leaving the sharpness at realistic levels and waiting for XP AA to catch up. Edited January 8Jan 8 by blingthinger Friendly reminder: WHITELIST AVSIM IN YOUR AD-BLOCKER. Especially if you're on a modern CPU that can run a flight simulator well. These web servers aren't free...
