This is really odd guys~!

Just booted up (been no problem forever!) and this time it is wanting me to set up all over again liker the first time it was installed?

Nothing has changed since yesterday so totally perplexed! Anyone else had this random thing happen?

Yes is normal; now and than it reset itself for unknow reasons.

That's really weird, I've not had that happen since ~SU4 back in 2020 days. I'd check to see if there's something changed in your Windows install just in case - could have been an update or something.

I'm wondering what CFG files now to save so that should it happen again im not rte jigging everything all over...

I have my USERcfg.opt file copied but is there any others you think?

Yep, one of the reasons I gave up on 2020! Now with 2024 I have my yoke, rudder, tiller and throttle quad setup via FSUIPC7, with a backup config file safely tucked away just in case. My understanding is the config setup is stored on their end, but I could be mistaken.

This happened to me for the first time this morning, and although I went through the setup process again, it did remember some things -- I needed to point it to the cache again, and choose my custom controller profiles, but it remembered where my Packages folder was. I will need to tweak the graphics a bit at some point, but it did remember my non-desktop resolution. 

i was amused when a screen popped up saying 'hey, we know you!'. 

I had this issue few days ago in 2024. It seems to be a problem with the server.

Next day it was okayish. In Xbox I selected FS24 - manage files - verify. Most of my settings were back, not all but most. The rest of them I have to bring back in the sim one by one, but not too many. Also my profile and flight hours were saved.

Yep me too, five years of requesting simple settings files to be saved locally.....still waiting.....

I would be extremely annoyed if stupid rubbish like this happened to me.

If you have created profiles for your control settings, you should always be able to restore
them, however extremely annoyed you might have become.
As far as I can tell, this happens to us all from time to time, but so far, the profiles have not been affected.

Also worth keeping in mind that in MSFS2024 you can backup your various control profiles locally - and of course restore, should you need it.

You can? I missed that 😄 what settings exactly and how? (Presuming you mean directly from within the game and not a 3rd party) Thanks

From memory (not near PC t the moment) On the Controls page just hit the cogwheel icon next to the profile you want to backup.

Oh yeah I knew that (thanks anyway, I missed your bit about controls my bad!) which is fine, but it's when the other general settings go AWOL because their server flips out. Those are the ones we need to keep locally as well as on the cloud, but alas as above five years and waiting for the UI coder to wake up!
