Sounded like fun as a kid, but then I found that despite being apparently  immune to vr sickness, boats at sea can Up my Chuck with little effort....

Cant even imagine what this would be like.

Man, that bottom bunk at 0:10 😱.  Looks like it’s designed to accommodate powder monkeys.

Nope, never really had a desire to set sail on the high seas.  Half-day fishing trips in a bay or just off shore, still within sight of land, was plenty for me.

Thank you...I was!  '69-70 Mediterainean Crusise aboard U.S.S Saratoga coming back home to Mayport,
Floriduh, it was so rough that we were taking "green water" over the bow.  In calm seas, the bow is 90
feet from the water! Never barfed my brains out.

Was aboard SARA for the '67 MED cruise return.  North of Bermuda, had 50 ft seas, 80 kt constant winds and not a cloud in the sky.  Peeled the port and starboard catwalks back from the bow like a banana for about 100 ft,  I was going plus\minus 50 lbs in my stateroom and even got wet when I went up to the signal bridge.  Was also great fun standing watch on the nav bridge while we made 1.5 nm over ground in 3 days.

Small boys with us had it worse.  They would crest a wave, roll into the trough and even the TACAN ball would disappear from view from SARA's bridge.

Yeah, but that bottom bunk is designed so that the powder monkey doesnt fly 3 feet before hitting the top bunk while he sleeps in just such conditions.

Nothing like standing the "Fly Watch" on the return trip!  The 3 Fly watches were tied together and we went out
to check on the 3 A-4s tied to the deck to make sure they were secure.  Then headed back to the Bridge with the
O.D.  We went out every 15 minutes to do our rounds!

Give me a 30 foot sloop sailing the Chesapeake Bay on a sunny day with a few dozen blue point crabs cooked in Old Bay.  I used to live those days earlier in my life.  Some of the best times I ever had.

You should try sailing a Cal-20 on San Francisco Bay!  I did for several years.  First berthed at Berkeley Marina then
a slip opened up at San Francisco's Gashouse Cove Marina.  Thems were the days!

That had to have been great fun on a great boat with a lot of history.  I'm assuming San Francisco Bay is a bit choppier with stronger currents than the Chesapeake Bay.  The Chesapeake is as easy sailing as it gets,  very enjoyable.

That would be my kind of water borne voyage!
