not raging ... well, kinda my PMDG editorial

I've been flying and dealing with PMDG since the FS9 and FSX days. I enjoyed all their products and support from them. Every support ticket or forum complaint I submitted to them, I always got a prompt courteous response back.  I've been a satisfied customer of their products. But I'm sure they are aware of that you can't please everyone.

One interesting thing about that "complaining" video is that according to the latest PMDG update, the 737 will be getting its model/texture/geometry/animation upgrade free of charge in the coming weeks ... so well done on that video producer for shooting himself in the foot and burning a bridge; everything he covered seems to be being rectified anyway - as was previously promised.

PMDG 737NG for MSFS 2024: We have a significant exterior model update process taking place in the background of the 737 development effort. We mentioned this back in December, because we nearly held the 737-800 off market in order to complete this process, but decided instead to phase the changes in progressively post-release in order that all of us could enjoy the 737-800 during our holiday breaks. (You did, didn't you?!!!) If you watch the change list for build 18 and beyond, you will start to see these changes rolling in. We anticipate the process being completed around the time the 737-700 releases. The change includes a significant refresh/update of model geometry, textures, animations and adds some feature to the exterior not currently present in the airplane. We'll put together a highlight post to walk you through the changes, but I suspect you'll see them quite evidently when we finish rolling them out.

That was a glitch on the PMDG website that a few people took advantage of.

The wallets of those who already paid for all the 2020 versions must be shaking now that they have to upgrade everyone to 2024....

Oh, I was not aware of this. That’s unfortunate indeed. So again, free upgrades are a really weak point with PMDG …

In addition that purchase allowed me to buy the 737-800 for MSFS 2024 at the special upgrade price. I’m very satisfied with both aircraft.

This does apparently no longer work because when I try the same today it remains at the full price. Or, how did you do that?

PMDG does make good (Boeing) airplanes, but, yes, with lot more drama than what we see for other equally good airplane makers in our SIM.

I’ve been flying their 737-600 (the first ever PMDG NG) since the FS9/FSX days. It meets my need well as a Baby Boeing enthusiast (no RW pilot here), but whether the 737 has progressed significantly in terms of simulation and fidelity, into the current MSFS version; I am not qualified to comment, leaving that to the experts…

the drama is caused by some customers poking and prodding... trying to still the pot

When they launched the  800 for MSFS 2024, their website had a bug and people who didn't qualify for the discount (700/600 owners) were able to get the discount.

According to PMDG this is all lies and trolls and never happened. But according to the real world, and people's credit card statements, it did happen.

They quietly fixed the bug after a couple days.

Exactly right.

And I can confirm with 100% certainty that I only owned the 737-700 for MSFS2020, so should not have been entitled to the 737-800 for MSFS2024 at the special upgrade price of $30. I should have been charged $75, but when I added it to my cart, I was only charged $30.

The video above was very well articulated but I think he just decided that he was going to make this type of video (for clicks) without really thinking about the full picture with the 737 2024.

As of this point, I quite strongly enjoy the PMDG 737 2024 more than the Fenix. I know I'm in a minority there, but the Fenix is heavier on the system when flying in complex payware airports. The PMDG 737 2024 is just stellar in performance - it doesn't matter where I fly to/from, I always get smooth, high FPS.   I actually don't see any bugs in the PMDG, whereas in the Fenix, I have constant erroneous pop-up boxes about my joystick calibration, and the cockpit door won't open from the inside when in walkaround mode.

So for me, the PMDG 737 2024 was a veritable bargain at $30 !

I am absolutely not putting the Fenix down - it's still absolutely amazing but at this time, I enjoy the PMDG 737 more than the Fenix.

As an off-topic, is anyone aware of a 3rd party sound pack for the Fenix?  I'm finding the sounds a little flat at the moment and was surprised to see I couldn't find a sound pack for it, considering how popular it is.

We know people got the 737-800 for the $30 I had a friend who owned the 700 only but received the discount price but PMDG couldn't admit that something was amiss with it they just kept saying no one got the discount so effectively called customers liars.

FTsim did one I believe. If I remember Boris didn't bother doing a Fenix sound pack because he thought the sounds were already good.
