How can you guys use Inibuilds KJFK with the Bumps in RWY?!

Featured Replies

Hi, did get myself the inibuilds KJFK for MSFS2020 and i have to say its unusable with the RWY Bumps in 31R and 04R, i can only find old threads for this issue but seems like it never got fixed in the year 2026. How are you guys using the addon then? because i tried everything from removing every other addon from community folder, deleted the SceneryIndex folder, disabled photogrametry (did make it even worse) disabled Rolling cache, but i cannot get rid of the Bumps.

Any tips highly requested.

There are many many examples of MSFS airports with grievously uneven or even impassable ground deformations.....

I often wonder how developers that put so much work into every other aspect of airport detail (especially the appearance) so often fall flat on their faces doing ground flattens/terrain sculpturing, which one would think would merit, at the very least, equal importantance to bling such as moving people....

We are all connected..... To each other, biologically...... To the Earth, chemically...... To the rest of the Universe atomically.

Hello,

The bumps on the runways are known about for JFK, unfortunately as DEM (Digital Elevation Model) data changes overtime, especially in areas that are more unique with their TIN/DEM data as well as the terrain in the location itself; it tends to present itself as bumps and shelves essentially. Applying corrections to one area isn't as simple as just "smoothing out the terrain" as the entire terrain needs to be managed even when changing one area. When we added all the bling and moving people, the terrain data was current for the terrain work done for the scenery, now the data has changed the ramp and runways, virtually everything in the airport space has to be looked over, fixed if needed, and then reverified for changes.

Thanks 🙂

thanks for the explanation, but can you give an ETA on a fix ? Looking at older threats this seems like it is a problem for some years now :( (or comes back all the time again and again?! )

Great! Have you guys began working on it? Because paying for something and having it be basically unusable is pretty annoying.

Wouldn't it be great if the ground could be manipulated like putty, so that stuff like this becomes a minimal (and very temporary) annoyance at best? I guess that it must be a lot more difficult to code than we think

There is a Terrain elevation fix on Flightsim.to. It's for people that use photogametry off. Which is what I do. Also there is a fix for their LAX airport aswell.

So yes or no - do you plan on correcting this issue?

Probably not. Unless the airport is redone from scratch...so it seems.

Ant than the terrain  will change again; do the airport again ?

How amusing that someone else could do this, but IniBuilds could not....

Yes we plan on correcting the issue

That's not what I said at all, I said that when one change to terrain is made, we have to verify that the entirety of the airport hasn't been affected by a change and if so then a fix has to be applied there; sceneries like JFK and LAX seem to have their underlying terrain data changing more frequently in the sim.

Well yeah, when one turns off the Photogrammetry as the user stated above all; of the TIN/DEM data that conflict with the scenery (which are changing mind you) are removed and as such a singular fix can be applied. We design our scenery to be used with PG and have such have to update terrain as DEM data is updated simulator side. Hope this helps 🙂

Thanks IniJamir..you guys do great job with your airports so looking forward to fix.  Do you have a time estimate...we won't hold you to a date?  Thanks.
