I grabbed this back when it released awhile ago.  IIRC, it made a noticeable graphical improvement for Default airports (as intended).  I didn’t specifically test, but there wasn’t a noticea

As long as I can maintain smooth performance I couldn't care less what the fps show!

I just grabed that one. And I must say: it’s absolutely fantastic! It improves all default airports quite massively in my opinion and I can only recommend it.

Does it have any noticeable impact on VRAM usage?

According to some earlier in this thread, the answer is no impact noticed. It's the shimmering that is holding me off. It shimmers enough already.

None that I can notice, even using simheaven europe with it.

What is your texture slider set to? And what % of your vram gets used when you run the sim?

I've noticed the opposite if I leave texture slider maxed out. I've seen it gobble up 3 gb of vram at default KPDX.

Friendly reminder: WHITELIST AVSIM IN YOUR AD-BLOCKER. Especially if you're on a modern CPU that can run a flight simulator well. These web servers aren't free...

Texture at High, VRAM will have to check later today... My GPU has 8 GB only.

I ask because I bet it is filled up and you simply don't notice. The sim has gotten really good at processing vram scaling tasks with its multithreading and I've never been able to discern a performance hit when it's scaling textures. LR keeps optimizing what textures get moved around and when and it's better with each release. I do think AEP uses more vram if you have spare available, but I don't think most users will notice much.

What they will notice is that it looks better than default.

I got it this afternoon will give it a whirl and report back

I haven’t noticed anything. At least the performance seems to be pretty much the same. But since I’m having 24GB of VRAM I may simply not notice it. So it’s difficult to tell.

Well, no fps impact is a lie. I loaded default LYBE with default Citation, same gate, no AI. The proof is on my comparison screenshots. First one is all default, second with AEP v2. Since the numbers are small, it's 70 vs 54fps. Not a small difference imo.

After taking these screenshots, went and disabled all static cars in AEP v2 library, got 3-4fps back (around 58fps now). I certainly do not care about static cars behind terminal buildings, etc.

You can test it yourself easily too, just load the same situation with and without and look at the FPS (ctrl+f). Maybe FPS impact on better systems than mine is negligible, but there is certainly an impact as a lot of smaller clutter is added around the parking spaces. And honestly I don't mind, airports now look awesome, XP12 never looked better.

When people report that they have not noticed an impact on frames, they are implying that personally they have not seen any difference. Its good that you've seen a performance decrease because its useful to others but pretty rude to call people lairs.

I agree, it was harsh from my side, I apologise. It was better to write "not true in my case".

Looks like I actually did lose 10 fps (~10%, X3D cpu). I didn't notice it because my monitor is 60hz and I limit the max fps. I forgot that the limiter was turned on and actually set at my monitor refresh rate after the recent multi threading updates. At that airport it's consuming a bit less than 1 additional gig of vram.

Worth those costs I'd say.

Have to ask, are those gateways from OpenSAM or...?

For some strange reason that addon doesn't work in my XP12, can't find out why.

Default. I've never bothered to try installing opensam.
