pausing time in MSFS 2024

Featured Replies

Anyone have any suggestions on how to stop time when pausing?  I've tried 3 different methods of pause: active pause, menu pause, and developer mode, and although the aircraft stops flying, time does not stop.

In 2020 the pause was simple, with any pause I could take a nap or take a break.  Time didn't march on.  In 2024 for long flights it gets ridiculous, with any pause, day becomes night, the passenger evaluation software fails complaining about hours long delays, etc.  I've searched online but nothing appears to work.

Thanks in advance.

Maybe FStarter24 can help you with it as you can change the time as you like with pause on or off.

Took a look at it, maybe not quite the same, but thanks.

This is a major quality-of-sim issue for me.  I don't even want to do medium or long flights if I have to fly without interruption.  It's nice to pause and take a closer look at the wonderful scenery where I am or where I am flying over.  Or pause just to take an extended break to do something else.

With a pause in 2024 the clock runs and TOD moves forward, all the arrival times shift and any software watching the time declares me late and penalizes me accordingly.  Fly 200 nm, take off in the morning and land in the evening.  Clearly an immersion killer.  Stopping time was solved in 2020, I'm not sure why the capability would be lost for 2024.

You can pause time in Developer mode same as in 2020.

Sounds like you want your cake and eat it too. If you don't want to keep up the real time, then turn it off. if you want to go sightseeing then turn off the time monitoring software. If you want to take a break on a long-haul flight, then turn on the AP and take a nap. I don't see how the sim timekeeping is taking away the immersion of what it suppose to do.

Be cautious with the time controls in MSFS.

FSUIPC implements a "full" pause that freezes everything, including the sim clock.  You map a button or key to the "Pause Set" or "Pause Toggle" commands.

I suspect that Axes-n-Ohs probably affords access to a similar mechanism.

Wow! I've been an FSUIPC user since it was released and didn't know it could do that. Thank you!

I've mapped the pause toggle to the Pause/Break key (after removing the MSFS assignment) then bound the Pause key to a joystick button. It's so easy now 🙂

So...if one does this then does the "pause at top of descent" of the various aircraft that offer it automatically use this?  I had no idea this was available, very nice!

I don't know...guess it depends on how the pause is implemented in the panel code.

It should be possible to write a simple lua script for FSUIPC that checks the pause bits at offset 0x0264 once every 5 seconds or so, and if it finds the sim is in one of the other pause modes it would then set the full pause bit at offset 0x0262 to put it in a full pause state.

My question is......why have Asobo found it so incredibly difficult to include a PAUSE function that actually does what it is supposed to do? In fact, this was also an issue for me in MSFS 2020.
