Well, wife just left to have her pacemaker replaced due to battery running down.  They last 8-10 years.  It's a simple procedure and they give you the option of sleeping or staying awake for it.

The last time she did this she had a genuine Near Death Experience.  "No, you have to go back."  She never told anyone about that for many years.  The doctor said at the time that she was a very special patient.  I told her she should tell the doctor about it after the surgery today.

I told her that if anything happened, she was in the best possible place for it with exactly the right doctor standing right next to her.

Prayers might be helpful.

Updates as I hear them.

She just got home, everything went well!

She didn't get a chance to talk to the doctor.

Thanks to everyone for your support.  Love you all.

Those are some of the best kind of prayers, Martin. 🙂  I think you understand.

Thanks, Tom.  Sometimes, staring the abyss in the face can put a lot of things into perspective.  Carolyn was a bit concerned.  I was trying not to worry, almost successfully.  Finally took a nap and woke up when she got home.

Prayers, positivity, and even well-wishes all help and are appreciated.

Carolyn got a laugh out of the Boston Scientific pacemaker tech when she told him about her cat pushing the button to send a report just to watch the lights flash on the machine.  Twice in a row.  The pacemakers have an external box that will interrogate the device via some kind of radio link and send a report via the cell phone system.  Can happen automatically or on demand.  Older versions used a land line or Internet wifi.

I was hoping to get the doctor's reaction to her NDE, but she never got to talk to him.  Turns out he had 7 procedures to do today.

Carolyn's been worried for months about the battery running out.  The device will sound an alarm when the battery gets low, and you still have about 6 months when that happens.  When mine alerted, I could hear the sound but couldn't tell where it was coming from, although I knew exactly what it was.  The device is typically implanted in the left chest.  Medtronics is good for 8 years, Boston Scientific is good for 10.  Hers never alerted, but the last time it was interrogated in the office they decided to replace it.  They don't replace the battery, but the entire device.  I understand the old ones are used in dogs and horses.

So in the end, all is good, and I can tell she's in better shape.

Thanks again to everyone.
