The Maddog is also now available on the Contrail store and they are allowing free transfers to there for Simmarket and Marketplace purchases

Woo hoo a free upgrade to install!

This plane (prototype and sim) is incredible - to me (not a real pilot), it just feels “heavy” in the air in the way other jets don’t.

I remember reading an article in our local paper here in Wisconsin while in high school (I’m 51) who was an accountant most of the time, but also flew for Midwest Express part time and had just transitioned to the DC-9 from the Skyway feeder’s B1900 and how much “heavier” the controls felt.

There is an excellent YouTube video where an AA pilot sits in the cockpit and talks about how much he loves the MD80 and all of its quirks.

Side note - NB Flightsim (now Aerosloth Repaints) has a HUGE catalog of absolutely gorgeous and rare repaints that they will update for the 2024 20th edition once they receive the 2024 native paint kit so hopefully this update includes that.

Glad to hear about the free transfer to Contrail…the more I can move away from Simmarket the better.

Hopefully repainters will convert the plethora of liveries available, however that’s unfortunately not often the case when aircraft go 2024 native, understandably so for the repainters.

Free update installed, but it did seem to take all of my previous liveries (community folder and installed via the Leonardo app) out of commission - there are new Leonardo 2024 liveries available for download on their forums so I installed a few of those.

I’m (finally) trying to learn to fly this using the autopilot using YouTube and AI - I’m sure at some point it will be as intuitive as the 738 or 757 by Boeing, but at this point it is just a very different way of going about the various autopilot and auto throttle controls.

The plane is gorgeous and silky smooth on my modest rig and hand flies beautifully, so if not familiar with a MD-80s and wanting something very different, I’d give this beauty a try!

I'm sure you'll enjoy the plane! It's very rewarding to master. Just one tip, AI is very inaccurate when it comes to specific aircraft SOP's. I'm happy to answer any MD-80 questions you may have. I recently did a YouTube tutorial on it using real SAS FCOM flows which really detail the tests involved and procedures :)

Hi Ron, are you aware all those liveries are available in the livery manager that you installed with the product? Go to the Livery manager page, make sure "Official liveries" is selected at the top, and install any livery you wish.
