Hi, ActiveSky graphics for FS9 do not contains any runways texture, airports or ground texture for fs9, it does have only clouds and sky, look like the problems is related to another addons or something else.ThanksChris Willishttp://www.hifisim.comhttp://www.hifisim.com/banners/hifi-dev-sigbanner.jpg

Hi Qas,Do you have the service pack installed for xgrahics? Also try 5 and see.The worst scenario with overcast 04 and 5, is at 0.1km the most limited visibility, you should not have more then this see pic and only with 0.1km at worst scenario. less then 1 miles it's start to appears a little buy little, but noting near a solid white. To be sure again.-Install overcast 4-uncheck overcast 4.-Close XG (to enable the uncheck from before)-open xg.-Close xg.http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/190733.jpghttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/190734.jpghttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/190735.jpgThanksChris Willishttp://www.hifisim.comhttp://www.hifisim.com/banners/hifi-dev-sigbanner.jpg

Hi,when you select Cirrus OVC set 4 or 5, after cirrus overcast 4 or 5 installation in xg, you should deselect the clouds cirrus overcast in the optionadvanced install option to prevent the interface install another cirrus overcast, after close XG and open it.ThanksChris Willishttp://www.hifisim.comhttp://www.hifisim.com/banners/hifi-dev-sigbanner.jpg -

Hi "2) i understand that XG works in conjunction with ASX, where the appropriate XG textures are chosen based on the weather. but say i decide to just jump right into FSX with no weather or anything. are the XG textures that were previously installed by ASX still in effect?"yes, but you can use xg without asx and select your own texture you want with default fsx weather generator, xg can be used seperate or with asx. 3D Redux Lights
Chris Willis replied to a topic in The AS16 and ASCA | Active Sky | Active Sky Next | XPAX Support Forum
Hi, I think it overwrite only the runways lights, but you can install xg after runways lights if you want them to overwrite 3d redux runways lights.ThanksChris Willishttp://www.hifisim.comhttp://www.hifisim.com/banners/hifi-dev-sigbanner.jpg -
Hi Jim,Also, maybe the reason you don't have the fog it's because x graphics does have the option to reduced? The fog rendering with the white opaque can be reducing with x graphics using the overcast cirrus option, Also disable skyscape introduce this if you are not using x graphics.FSX displays a haze effect to render visibility layer ceilings. When you are above this ceiling you will see a cirrus overcast texture which simulates the lower visibility haze. Some users may prefer a lighter/more transparent haze effect so we have provided two Cirrus Overcast textures (Cirrus Overcast 4 and Cirrus Overcast 5) with such lighter effect. This may improve the appearance of these haze layers especially when it intersects with mountainous terrain. To use these textures persistently, select and install Cirrus Overcast 4 or Cirrus Overcast 5, and after installation of textures, prevent Cirrus Overcast installation via the Advanced Options (uncheck the Cirrus Overcast item). This permits normal randomization/wx-influenced/manual selection of all other categories while keeping Cirrus Overcast locked as selected before the advanced option change.ThanksChris Willishttp://www.hifisim.comhttp://www.hifisim.com/banners/hifi-dev-sigbanner.jpg

Hi Tom,The shining at ground are related to the runways lights not aircraft strobe, fsx use some runways lights for aircraft. I have made a fix now, all same set without shinning at ground and reduced size for the landing nights to avoid the issue from FSX SP2.It should be available soon.ThanksChris Willishttp://www.hifisim.comhttp://www.hifisim.com/banners/hifi-dev-sigbanner.jpg

Hi, VFR Photographic Scenery if I am not wrong, are ground terrain texture? X graphics don't have any scenery or terrain texture that's replace these, only replace default Ms runways and water at most but do not replace Custom scenery for terrain.ThanksChris Willishttp://www.hifisim.comhttp://www.hifisim.com/banners/hifi-dev-sigbanner.jpg

Hi, "I have watch long straight roads off my 9 oclock appear jagged and broken "morph" into straight ones"This appears in default as well, some wrong "tiled class scenery" road togheter make these cutted jagged transition.ThanksChris Willishttp://www.hifisim.comhttp://www.hifisim.com/banners/hifi-dev-sigbanner.jpg

HI Jim,About the jagged texture, I think this appears when the texture are not rendered completly yet, then it's rendered correctly (Ms rendering system). Also you can test 1m resolution and 1 cm, the ground texture are better rendered with 1cm, like road, railroad, many things at the ground texture use better rendering with 1cm.ThanksChris Willishttp://www.hifisim.comhttp://www.hifisim.com/banners/hifi-dev-sigbanner.jpg

HI, For day sky, use tropical 01 or 04, for dusk use classic 95. As for clouds, this is hard to tell, because it's related to the clouds formation with real weather. The texture can do a little things in this screenshots, start with cumulus x graphics defaults.for day sky you might test also uprise sky, these are different with compare impression sky, they are below tropical set.You really have to test to see your prefered visual and save them for your prefered theme, with the screenshots you can see the color for sky, for clouds is more difficult to know because it's more related to the real weather engine for clouds formation. HI Jordan,I see, for now for airports you can add these line to fsx.cfg under display, more the value is lower, more lights will be smaller. 01, or 006, 003 etc.RUNWAY_LIGHTS_SURFACE_SCALAR=0.1 //scales edge, center,end,touchdown,runwaysRUNWAY_LIGHTS_VASI_SCALAR=0.1 //scales VASI/PAPI lightsRUNWAY_LIGHTS_APPROACH_SCALAR=0.1 //scales approach light barsRUNWAY_LIGHTS_STROBE_SCALAR=0.1 //scales RAILs and ODALsEditFor aircraft, this issue appears only when totally - zoomed out, I will see if I can do something without broken the airports lights, because fsx share the same files for aircraft lights and airports lights.ThanksChris Willishttp://www.hifisim.comhttp://www.hifisim.com/banners/hifi-dev-sigbanner.jpg

Hi Ray,"optimise the cloud bitmaps for FSX?Optimise clouds are only related to resolution not others things.Clouds in fs9 was 512x512 32 bit as default, Asg for fs9 we provided 512x512, 256x256, 128x128 and 64x64 in 32 bit and dxt3.In fsx default is already in 256x256 dxt5 (similar to dxt3), For fsx, we provided 512x512, 256x256 and 128x128 in both format 32 bit and dxt5. Default fsx is 256x256 dxt5, there was not alot of room to increase fps compare to fs9, simply because FSX fps use many ressource in others area like 2x water and others things like this, this is why Microsoft Aces used 256x256 in dxt5 to increase their performance for others area.In fact many users use 512x512 or even 1024x1024 in 32 bits imagine, 256x256 or 128x128 dxt5 is the most you could use for fsx.ThanksChris Willishttp://www.hifisim.comhttp://www.hifisim.com/banners/hifi-dev-sigbanner.jpg
