  1. They didn't use the schema provided with FS9, an updated version was posted by someone on-line some time afrer release.
  2. You should never modify the default files. If you need to modify s single airport, can I suggest that you use ADE. You can change the approaches, compile and save the new bgl to an active scenery area and it will take precedence over the default, but leave all other default airfields as they are. George
  3. There are two default hydro-polys for those lakes: Presumably MSE has excluded them but not replaced them to suit the photo-textures.
  4. You seem to be missing an hydro-poly for the lakes.
  5. It might help if you had aircraft casts shadows on.
  6. Try using FreeCommander from www.FreeCommander.com It is the only way I can browse the FSX dvds on W7: Uploaded with ImageShack.us George
  7. I can't see any which are on the taxiway. There are a few which are on aprons which surround taxiways, but they are outside the taxiway limits. George
  8. There is a problem with the W7 explorer when browsing the FSX disks. Try copying the disks to a new folder on your hard drive and run the msi from there.
  9. Hi Rob, We seem to be in a minority, others I know have no problem. I tried to find an answer on Microsoft Answers but got nowhere. George
  10. I have exactly the same problem and found that it was due to W7 updates KB978601 and KB979309 which I uninstalled. However, after installing SP1, the problem has reappeared. The problem only occurs on the FSX (UDF formatted) disks but I can explore them with FreeCommander on W7 and across the network from my XP machine. Try copying the disks to a hard drive and see whether you can install from there. George
  11. Why are you suggesting that they will open a store? Of course they won't.
  12. Hi Eric,I've given you a step by step guide how to create hydro-polys at FsDeveloper.I don't use KML with FSET, I create separate blend and water masks from the FSET bmp and modify the resample .iniIn this example the blend and water mask tiffs are the same since the area doesn't impinge on the default scenery.BMP from FSETTIFFModified .ini [Destination]DestDir = G:\FSEarthTiles\Scenery\Calais\sceneryDestBaseFileName = Area_Lp1_SnapOff_N050583776_N050524290_E001440798_E001592506BuildSeasons = 0UseSourceDimensions = 1CompressionQuality = 100[source]Type = MultiSourceNumberOfSources = 3[source1]Type = BMPLayer = ImagerySourceDir = .SourceFile = Area_Lp1_SnapOff_N050583776_N050524290_E001440798_E001592506.bmpLon = 1.73553943634033 ;for top left and bottom right is: 1.99029922485352Lat = 50.9771633148193 ;for top left and bottom right is: 50.8785760402679NumOfCellsPerLine = 17809 ;Pixel is not used in FSXNumOfLines = 9189 ;Pixel is not used in FSXCellXdimensionDeg = 1.43051147460938E-05CellYdimensionDeg = 1.07288360595703E-05PixelIsPoint = 0SamplingMethod = PointChannel_BlendMask = 2.0Channel_LandWaterMask = 3.0[source2]Type = TIFFLayer = NoneSourceDir = .SourceFile = Area_Lp1_SnapOff_N050583776_N050524290_E001440798_E001592506_BLEND.tifLon = 1.73553943634033 ;for top left and bottom right is: 1.99029922485352Lat = 50.9771633148193 ;for top left and bottom right is: 50.8785760402679NumOfCellsPerLine = 17809 ;Pixel is not used in FSXNumOfLines = 9189 ;Pixel is not used in FSXCellXdimensionDeg = 1.43051147460938E-05CellYdimensionDeg = 1.07288360595703E-05PixelIsPoint = 0SamplingMethod = Point[source3]Type = TIFFLayer = NoneSourceDir = .SourceFile = Area_Lp1_SnapOff_N050583776_N050524290_E001440798_E001592506_WATER.tifLon = 1.73553943634033 ;for top left and bottom right is: 1.99029922485352Lat = 50.9771633148193 ;for top left and bottom right is: 50.8785760402679NumOfCellsPerLine = 17809 ;Pixel is not used in FSXNumOfLines = 9189 ;Pixel is not used in FSXCellXdimensionDeg = 1.43051147460938E-05CellYdimensionDeg = 1.07288360595703E-05PixelIsPoint = 0SamplingMethod = Point
  13. As far as I can tell, it first scans the FSX folders then scans all add-on aircraft folders before getting to the initial load flight screen. On my system this takes about 3 minutes. After clicking on "Fly Now", it scans all of the scenery folders, presumably looking for scenery in the vicinity of the user aircraft. The progress bar stays at 6% and during this time, it is using only one core. Finally, it loads the scenery using cores 2, 3 and 4 and the progress bar increments to 100%.
  14. Is it worth replacing an 896MB GTX 260 with a 2GB 560?I have 8GB RAM but when running XP, it sees only 3.5GB. I believe also that XP uses some RAM to support GPU operations, is this so?
  15. You could try http://www.gadm.org, they provide SHP and KMZ files.I create coastlines in SBuilderX rather than use the FSET KML procedure.George
  16. If the addon scenery is at a height different from the default, you need a stub (dummy) AFD file in Scenery\World\Scenery to set the height of the addon.George.
  17. I can always land in the crosshairs using a flyable aircraft :(
  18. Sorry, I mustn't have had my glasses on :( I use a custom program to extract ground elevations for blended flattens. That program uses FSUIPC.
  19. Why would you expect TCalcX to give an incorrect ground altitude? It uses Simconnect. The only reason to have the aircraft at 3000ft is so that only the crosshairs are visible.
  20. I don't see the point of using a "special" aircraft. I use any user aircraft at about 3000ft in conjunction with TCalcX.George
  21. Why would that be? I run FSX simultaneously on two PC's at the same time. (I have two copies of FSX Gold).Or, are you saying that you have seen the EULA for MS Flight?
