  1. Thanks Word Not Allowed - however, perhaps it is my monitor, but I can't see much of a difference in these sceenshots. Bruceb EDIT I take it all back - in game these settings do make a dramatic diffidence! Thanks again Word Not Allowed. Bruceb
  2. I agree that this thingy provides a much more realistic night light level (at least since the demise of CRT monitors) - less convinced about daytime, different certainly but not sure if it is any better. Bruceb
  3. Thank you for your comments Vic but I stand by my previous posts - I guess we will have to agree to disagree on this one. Bruceb
  4. The great problem with the way Hi Fi handles support is that the answers to ticket requests are only available to those who submit tickets. With most support forums including those such as PMDG who also have a ticket system you have an archival record of the answers to support queries available to all and very often a quick search of a forum will reveal the answer to your query. These days there is very little useful information the Avsim (Unofficial) HiFi forum because the developer hardly ever makes a contribution. Bruceb
  5. Unfortunately this is unlikely to help. The developers rarely put in an appearance these days and it has become a case of the blind leading the blind. I'm not a great REX fan but at least the developers try to give support on their forum. With AS2012 you will need to put in a support ticket. I also get the kind of anomalies described by the OP in AS2012 and changing draw distance etc makes no difference so if a solution is found some how I would be grateful to hear about it. Bruceb
  6. Well that is extremely disappointing. The click and drag utility is something that FS Navigator had and when that went belly up (at least for FSX) it was great to have it in Plan-G. So I guess that is it, even though Plan-G is freeware and I am reluctant to be critical, v3 does seem to be something of a downgrade with the most useful feature of v2 no longer supported and the new features not really of interest to me. Bruceb
  7. Very odd that this seems to be missing as that feature combined with terrain mapping is what made Plan-G such a useful utility. Maybe the feature is implemented in some other way but I have yet to find it. Bruceb
  8. OK I will check this out - thanks for the HU. Bruceb
  9. The absence of terrain mapping in V3 is a show stopper for me unfortunately so it is back to V2. Bruceb
  10. In my experience Navigraph's coverage of Australia and New Zealand is quite poor - fortunately procedure charts are readily available from Airservices Australia. Bruceb
  11. Unfortunately with v3 terrain mapping is not available and this is the main reason I use Plan-G for VFR stuff - so it will be back to v2 for me which I understand will still work. I was also hoping for Navigraph support which had been promised but apparently became too difficult. I like to import flightplans prepared in other apps for the NGX and use Plan-G as a moving map but without navigraph the resulting flightplan display in Plan-G can go very wrong due to the seven year old FSX database. Bruceb
  12. What I mean is that after rotation and wheels up at 1:46 the runway rumble sound continues - it sticks and keeps playing until the end of the video at 2:20. I get this occasionally with the NGX and would like to know what causes it as the only way to stop it is to abort the flight. Bruce
  13. Was it my imagination but did the runway takeoff wheel rumble vibration sound continue after takeoff? I get this sticky wheel rumble sometimes but have never found out what causes it. Bruce
  14. I have to plead guilty too for being an Aivlasoft EFB fan - I use it on every heavy iron flight. I must also admit that after reading and re-reading the OP's posts I still can't quite figure out what on earth he is on about. Bruce
  15. OK thanks for that. So this is for FSX even though the install readme says it is for FS2004 - this is what had me confused. Also an update on REXE - I am now finding that weather loading and interpolation is much faster so they must have addressed this problem. On the other hand, even with REXE interpolation enabled, I still only get a list of nearby weather stations for an airport without a metar eg YSCO or my local airport YMER. In AS2012 you get what amounts to a weighted average metar with the text RMK ADVANCED INTERPOLATION added for an airports such as YSCO or YMER that aren't reporting weather data Bruceb
  16. Sorry to be a pain with this but I am still struggling to find an FSX version of the HDE cloud set - Google has failed me as all the links seem to lead to the FS9 version. Grateful if some kind person coukld provide the correct link for FSX. Thanks Bruce
  17. In the early days of Orbx that was the case but these days Orbx is much more focused on NA and their older Australian scenery is looking dated. Bruceb
  18. An interesting thread as I have been attempting to compare REXE and AS2012. While REXE is a step up and the textures look great I am finding little things that are keeping me with AS2012 for weather. Like it takes the best part of 12 minutes to load and interpolate weather - all done in less than two minutes with AS2012. I have issues with the flight planner that the REX people are looking into and one thing that AS2012 has that I haven't found in REXE is advanced interpolation so that you can get weather for stations that haven't got reports. With REXE you just get a list of nearest stations with metars. I also prefer the AS2012 UI. Now one thing I would like to know is which of the three weather modes offered by AS2012 is closest to the way REXE does things? Finally, I may have missed something here, but HDEv2 appears to be for FS9. Bruceb
  19. Well for one would like a much better rendition of YSSY than what we currently have. It really is an anomaly that Australia's major international gateway doesn't have a high quality depiction in FSX. With due respect to North American simmers there are heaps of high quality airports for you to choose from and some redress of the US centric bias of our hobby would be appreciated. Bruceb
  20. My throttle issues disappeared when I reverted to setting them up entirely within FSUIPC. Bruce
  21. These days I am mainly using FlightAware to get routes and then importing into Aivlasoft's EFB to convert to FSX and PMDG format and to add Sids and Stars. I also use Plan-G for VFR stuff. Bruce
  22. I find I have to use TextureMaxLoad=60 to get rid of black squares when flying the NGX near demanding Orbx and other scenery (YMML, YBBN, YSCB etc). Adverse effects seem to be minimal. Bruce
  23. Still takes ages to load - AS2012 takes a small fraction of the time REX takes for weather loading and interpolation. Bruce
  24. Right now have the map can see others but my flight isn't there. Further suggestions appreciated. Thanks Bruce
