  1. I was blown away with the NGX.Many of its highlights have been brought up several times here in the forums so I'm going to point out some not so frequently mentioned here.- Did you notice the sound of the front wheels slowing down when they come into contact with the pads in the wheel well after takeoff? Most probably you did but did you notice as well that when you retract a non-rotating front wheel, the sound isn't there?- Did you notice when, after an RTO, the brake temp keeps rising for a short while even after the plane comes to a complete stop? There are so many more little details that add up, it's magnificent. The flight model is also extraordinary, but there are tremendeous posts and threads about that, no need for me to repeat. Oh, and the performance is one of the key highlights. Although with many compromises (i.e. 2D panel), I get constant 20+ FPS on my system, which, believe me, is a true miracle... :) (P4 Prescott 3,4 GHz (HT), 2 GB RAM (PC2100), ATI Radeon 2600 Pro AGP (512 MB), W7 x86) Cheers,
  2. I was just about to start a topic about how excellent and realistic the whole sound set turned out when I saw this thread.I guess you can't please everyone; we all depict the universe differently. On the other hand, I've read from someone in another thread who flies Ryanair regularly and has been on many of their planes and reported that all of their NG's sound differently. Cheers,
  3. Blake, We share a lot in common, down to the photography line (well, almost..).Aside from that, very nice thoughts, couldn't have said better myself. +1 on that! Cheers,
  4. I've been told that the NGX runs best on two legs. See, there's your multi-leg capability implemented! Not sure about sidestep though.. Cheers,
  5. I'm-not-buying guys will buy the product anyway... Cheers,
  6. My wife is due 1st August...Talk about mixed feelings! :(
  7. Saying that 'the NGX is a must have' is like saying 'the universe is big'.It doesn't describe a thing.History is being written at this very moment.
  8. At some point in time in our future there will be a day when one of us will share a picture on a modern platform yet to be invented about the good old 747X.We will all be smilingly saying:- wow, can't believe we flew in 2D!- wow, remember those pre-programmed AI planes?!- wow it actually INSTALLED terrain mesh and terrain texture from the DVD instead of pulling most recent satellite data from the net! How funny!- wow, I just reinstalled FSX and it runs 100+ FPS but it looked much better in my memories...- retro flying! Neither FSX, nor the 747 is in production anymore! What else do you think we all will be smiling at?
  9. What a nice reading, thanks for sharing Shane!Cheers,
  10. Worst Experience would definitely be my latest visit to MMMX.It was Lufthansa's flight to Mexico, I was already in descent phase, and the Sun was already done for the day over there. Engine #3 suddenly blew as I was descending through 10.000' AGL and had to shut it down. Had a rather smooth approach (the Queen flies like a steady rock even on 3 engines!) but had to do a G/A due to traffic not vacating the runway in time.Long story short, the Queen ended up in pieces on a mountain wall. Lesson learned: Always go through missed approach procedures before entering final approach, study the obstacles of the airport surroundings and double check whether missed approach procedures can be safely executed with engine-out configurations or not...Honestly, it was the only time I ever did harm to the Queen and I was literally shaking afterwards, and did not fly for about 9-10 days...
  11. It's funny how PMDG's name still refers to development of manuals. :biggrin:What I like the most about PMDG products vs any other developers' products is that you don't come here to ask whether their upcoming release will have a working FMC or proper visuals or accurate flight model. You come here to see what other developers will be keen to achieve in the next years. In the end it always turns out the cost was well worth spending on all PMD products.Talk about evolution... :(
  12. 744 from the already existing PMDG birds.Whenever the PMDG777 will be released, it will not get any better for me FS-wise.
  13. I see the future. :( I see AVSIM developers frustrated with insomnia, endlessly crying like babies at night. They were told once that, if they come up with an easy-to-use, powerful search engine for AVSIM forums, such useless questions, or even more: topics will not be started anymore. And yet, life, as we know it, finds a way to get around...The answers is yes, and no.
  14. I second that.If you set one tiny-biny thing to go off on the rarest possible frequency, it will definitely go off on a 4+ hr flight. That is just not realistic.I guess if I had the task to tidy up this feature, I would make a log of all failable items in the sim, measure their usage in hrs or in proper usage (for engines, APU, Gears, etc) and save their state along with the panel save feature. Now if you don't load your panel state, you get a fresh-out-of-the-factory bird, but if you do use panel state save-load feature, you'll get what you deserve after let's say a 100 hrs of flight. And that would be it, no financial crap or maintenance routine check planning crap. If you feel that a failed item can be serviced, untick, and off you go, the usage-counter resets. It wouldn't be too hard to develop, and would add a great deal of reality perception to the sim.
  15. Craig,I absolutely agree with everything you've said.Cheers,Balint Nagy
  16. Okay, a short haul aircraft is indeed needed, but the NGX is coming along, and the 717 is operated by only a handful of airlines, so for curiosity, it would be a very wise choice but personally I would not really be interested in it, as I am hardly motivated to get the MD-11 either. I'm not saying the MD is not a worthy addition to the fleet though..An Airbus family however, would be highly popular, I bet even more than the 747 was, when it was released. I'm a Boeing fan, but I start to wonder if its only because there are no 'busses on the market done by the standards PMDG has set and that I have gotten used to.Let's make the guys over at PMDG develop a complete FS on their own... ;)Cheers,Balint Nagy
  17. Rob,Thanks for the info, I gave it a try and it worked out like a charm. I should also mention that I have not only added "atc_parking_types=GATE" to the aircraft.cfg, but also "atc_parking_codes=DLH" just to be on the safe side.Whatever messed up before, is now eliminated by this. Thanks once again,Cheers,
  18. Still having the same problem, even after a complete reinstall. Even checked the AFCAD file, the parkingspec.txt and installed Aerosoft's Mega Airport Frankfurt, but the problem persists. Can anyone help me out with at least an idea on what could have gone wrong? Thanks in advance,
  19. Hi FernandoWhat's the problem with the FDE, especially with the climb performance? I haven't noticed any problems with it so far.Cheers,
  20. Have you turned on "advanced animations" in the options section of FSX? As I recall, this should be always ON to correctly show visuals on 747X.Cheers,
  21. Sorry if you expected a solution in an answer, I can't point you right into the problem.Maybe you should check Windows' decimal settings. Also, might be a silly approach but, do you have any kind of antivirus program, port blocking, scanning, anti-cookie God-knows-what programs running in the background?Have you tried to run FS with FS-autostart? It's a nice program that shuts down all unnecessary processes of your PC when you start FS. You can find it here in Avsim library. Not much else comes up..Cheers,
  22. Fellow captains,I've been having this problem for so long now. This only happens with the original LH livery downloaded from PMDG website. Whenever I ask Ground for a taxi to parking, and there is a separate area for cargo planes at the airport: I always get routed to cargo, even at EDDF where there are tons of designated LH parking spots.Anyone have a clue? Thanks,
  23. Nerd #2 here. There's so much stuff to do while it aligns itself..weather forecasts, loadsheet review, fuel load planning, departure procedure review, ...
