  1. Here is another Q&A session with LM as wel as some new pics I have not seen. http://airdailyx.blogspot.co.nz/2013/11/airdailyx-interview-with-wesley-l-bard.html
  2. You could take the gamble that there will be a new version out within 20 months and get the developer version. It doesn't say you must be a developer, just an interest in developing. If V3 takes longer, probably will then you will have paid more I guess..
  3. I like the download version as well. Firstly, those publishers that decide I have to have the disk in the drive every time I load the software doesn't get the chance to make me do it if I don't have a disk. Secondly I can't lose, scratch the disk and then not have a copy of the software. Thirdly, so may updates with software distributed via the net you find that very soon the original disk is never required because if you install from scratch you have too many patches to apply. Easier to download the full up to date version.
  4. It's been a problem going back to FSX where you cannot span the image past a single screen, even though the window will. From what I remember reading in the past this won't be an issue with V2.
  5. Is the scissor thing an HDR artifact that could possibly be turned down somehow? Only on the edges where the refraction is happening makes me thing without HDR perhaps they would look different.
  6. On a subject not asked of LM its nice to see they are looking at the Oculus rift. I would love to see a good GA sim supported on the rift.
  7. I give the guy lots of credit, thats not the point of my post though. For that single paragraph which you quoted from he also many paragraphs saying that for so many reasons things don't always happen for what ever reason and things don't make releases. For that reason the hype is hard to maintain and they find it hard to deliver the hype. They are not creating the hype.
  8. Yes, thats why I dont take what I say in too negative of a way. I am ok with it as it is and would like for nice improvements. I just don't buy in to much excitement about point upgrades as they may not tend to deliver what we want. I am happy if this time around all it delivers are huge behind the scenes changes to get more 3rd parties on board.
  9. I will get p3d v2 no doubt but I think there are better military sims around then what we will get from p3d in that respect.
  10. Hopefully it's in places that give the most benefits. I know from your other post you said Austin wont do things half heartedly. Sometimes good, sometimes a waste of time. E.g. you just talked about a working tweak that cant be a final solution to Austin because, I presume, it's not pure. Well, if it looks like a rabbit, smells like a rabbit and tastes like a rabbit…… It might be a good enough rabbit. Is it at this point of time worth rewriting core pieces of flight model code to create another rabbit that looks like the first one? I agree when others have said their goals might not meet up with other peoples goals. I think we would feature upgrades, not rabbits replaced with other rabbits that look the same.. Thats more gratifying for the pure developers than the end users who cannot tell the difference.
  11. Half that article spent time describing why they dont want to say what is coming. I can't be excited about promises of great stuff coming in xplane anymore. Don't get that statement wrong as an overly negative thing but it's my experience from a company that doesnt say what they are planning to do, doesnt say when features released a couple years ago will work nicely etc. I just dont see how you can tell that 10.30 will not just be a huge patch for various issues where a lot of them will not effect us at all. So thats my attitude to LR telling me there will be great stuff but telling me in the same sentence they are not confident enough to deliver on time, hence the secrecy. I will take it on merit when it's delivered and hopefully be really happy but I wont bother speculating on great things..
  12. I watched it in bed on the 50" in HD. I might do more of that, it's not a bad way to do it I also was a bit mixed, there were some things he said that didnt really worry me that they were not quite correct but there were a few things he said where I didnt think he was 100% on the ball.
  13. AI aircraft in xplane, strangely, uses the fully computed flight model the same as the plane you are flying. IMHO a big waste of resources as no one cares how accurately modeled the flight model of AI is, just that it doesnt look stupid when taking off and landing.
  14. To get the audio to your tv you could use an audio cable. your computer has the standard audio out jack and your tv will have the same audio in jack, usually. You might have to go and buy one if you dont have one lying around. It;s the same 3.5mm stereo jack thats on the end of your headphones but one on each end.
  15. A DVI to hdmi cable will work fine. The only thing that wont go over this cable will be the audio that hdmi can carry but DVI does not. So just hook it up and it should work. You may have to adjust overscan to turn it off if your card treats it as a TV and your image is smaller than the screen.
  16. It is the Honour system but what has that got to do with question 1? Thats what it is and I guess the watermark is mostly there so that a proper professional outfit doesnt use a cheap version where their customers will see what they are doing.
  17. No, for $140 less you get the academic price if eligible. Not unlike microsoft, apple, adobe and many others give academic users a break on price.
  18. I guess we will find out in a few days, it's only been with developers, not reviewers and they seem to have been busy with only a few of them posting only a couple of videos and a few screenshots between them. Once it gets in to our hands I am sure the information will be shared quickly. It doesn't sound like you were going to be a day one purchaser so I am sure you can wait it out with me and everyone else
  19. Academic licenses I have seen in the past apply to when you purchase it so if you spend $$ and then6 months later you finish the course you can still use it. With others it's essentially an academic 'discount' at the time of purchase. If p3d is the same then you can use it indefinitely, the only eligibility criteria is at purchase time.
  20. For those that didn't quite get what Alain said I will rephrase. They will have made better use of the VAS available to them so that you lucky fools will actually be able to run more complex add-ons while still getting the same frame rate you used to get with FSX. Strange how exactly the same thing said differently can have a much more positive sound to it.
  21. I dont have the lights mod installed so my lights are not anywhere near as bright as your but I did loan an aircraft in to the same position as yours going towards KLAX at 5500ft and got the same thing, sections that are dark sprang in to life as I approached them.
  22. It's the memory that is more important. Two card with 1GB doesnt equal 2GB of usable memory.
  23. I think prior to V2 there isnt much of a different story then in FSX. Guess we will have to wait until next week to find out if the playing field is even with V2.
  24. I haven't used p3d since 1.3, sorry if this is addressed in 1.4 I cant see it is. Will p3d v2 natively support trackir or will 3rd party apps, e.g. ezydok still be required to use it?
