  1. They do all do the same thing - add traffic. What you pay for is gimmicks and packaging. I have always been a strong believer in never paying for AI. You can simply add it via free packages like World Of AI which just needs several clicks and it's in. Save your money and put it towards some nice scenery.
  2. Are you using the FS2Crew panel state? You need power to your radios before they will communicate with ATC.
  3. I always used Real Environment Professional (Freeware) and GEPro and Flight Environment (both payware) and they seemed to make a huge difference to all aspects of FS9.
  4. Can you post a shot.In my (small) experience in design, when some textures have mips and some don't then the whole area drops out to low res blurry (ground textures, building textures, everything). When I added the mips back, the issue went away. The scenery engine can't cope with inconsistent mipping and it throws its toys out and blurs everything. Try adding some mips in Imagetool where required and see if it makes a difference.
  5. 2D Multi-monitor setups represent a a very small minority of users. PMDG aimed at the largest target market - Single monitor setups. Great move I reckon. Unfortunately some will not like it. You have to aim ahead of the curve. In this age of high development and publishing costs and rampant theft you need the highest return for investment. Try TrackIR and put 2D to bed.
  6. You should reinst..... er .. I mean, check the last action you made and reverse it. Usually that's a good start.
  7. I agree. The 2D era is over and developers know this. (My opinion of TrackIR doesn't come into this. I think it is known anyway).* Mainstream single monitor users are the largest target market and when you think in terms of market share, devs are smart and aim for the largest target. * Machines can handle VC now, whereas 2 or 3 years ago they couldn't very well.* VC only offers the greatest return per dollar invested, especially in this day of high costs and increasing theft.
  8. Such a tough call, but I'd say the MD-11 due to it's progressed design refinements and superb audio soundset experience. I just remember the first time I touched down in the MD-11 and rolled out - I just thought "wow...."
  9. That is indeed me, Sir. Thank you very much. I don't make videos any more and most of them can be found on YouTube. I pulled my YT page down as a while back I predicted there would be copyright problems ahead relating to the usage of music on YT. This is starting to become evident now. So I got myself out of that risk area.I now do scenery design. I get much more satisfaction from making Gmax scenery. The plan is one day to have the video makers working for me!To put back on topic, I think FSX is now entering a Golden Age with hardware catching up now to demand.
  10. Until recently I would not have agreed with you. I was the biggest FSX skeptic going round. However since overclocking my 920 a month ago, I have finally had one month of FSX only, and that's heavies too, not GA lake flying. I don't see myself going back to FS9, but the investment in FS9 addons has more than paid for itself by now.I agree that the hardware is finally here now to let FSX stretch its legs.
  11. I use DENSE. It took me a long to time to accept anything less than FULLLY Maxed EXTREMELY DENSE Auto Gen, but it killed my FPS and was impossible, even with an overclocked i7.Now I have let DENSE into my life, it's the sweet spot and FSX is so much nicer. But I must get myself GEX.The comments are right though, texture tile placement is due to landclass, not the Autogen setting.
  12. No I just meant the snappy, obedient responses, not the actual voice. Sorry. :-)
  13. Good vids, Bryan. Really interesting. The voice kind of reminds me of HAL9000 in Space Oddysey :(
  14. Finally.... the "please do this and that" crowd will be silenced.
  15. There certainly is now. I haven't tried it but I am hearing good things about it. They started with the Default 737 and I think they plan to move to other payware aircraft soon. I reckon this is the future. Imagine using Voice Command whilst on Vatsim! What a mind trip.
  16. I used to experience "Autogen Spikes" as I panned my TrackIR round. I solved this I think by lowering Autogen to Dense. Toasted graphics card usually shows in the form of misdrawn clouds, or textures on aircraft and ground going randomly in patterns.
  17. Whilst what you are doing is admirable and quite impressive, am I the only one here who thinks this is just a tiny bit illegal ?You are taking a payware scenery and reverse engineering (hacking) it and uploading it to Avsim. The transparency issues you are seeing are typical of FS9 materials in FSX. They don't always work.
  18. That looks stunning, doesn't it. He is very good.
  19. I think it's a smart move my PMDG, filling a noticeable gap in the market. A lot of people (most even) still can't sim in heavy jets into large cities due to bad performance. This aircraft might at least get poeple flying busier routes.
  20. The reg utility might get your FSX running, but all your payware addons will need reinstalling. Most of the time it's actually less work to start again and re-install a fresh FSX.
  21. Thanks for the "heads up" I often sim with streaming ATC in the background (from liveatc.net) so this will be a great little addition.
  22. In Settings > Options, I tick the box "Always Fly in Summer" :(
  23. I think you won't be able to take FSX seriously without dropping some cash somewhere along the line.I recently did the same move up from FS9.Opinions will vary but I use REX2.0 now for weather. It just seems a bit more integrated and those "jerky" instant weather changes I got with ASX are now gone. Global ground textures are still in their infancy for FSX. At the moment you have available - FTX for Australia and then only I believe GEX for USA currently nothing else (?)If you're practicing for RW flights then maybe as someone suggested Tileproxy would be good for you as you can see all your VFR landmarks etc.Lastly AI. I have never believed in paying for AI that's out there for free like World-of-AI, which is hard to top in my opinion. Take that 50 bucks for UT2 and buy GEX.
  24. I am almost definitely going to give it a try. I am a long term supporter of your products. I own them all.Even though the Default 737 flies like a bag of cement and sounds even worse, it will be nice to do short haul in FSX with something smaller that the Level D. *Edit: Just noticed the enhancements list. You guys think of everything.
