  1. Very nice series, Aharon. If you're in the mood for another real-world route in extreme northern Canada, my former employer used to fly a private 727-100 combi between Edmonton and Lupin (CYWO), ferrying mine workers and equipment back and forth every week. Lupin was a gravel strip, which made it even more interesting, but sadly the mine and the airport are now closed. You can find pictures of the "Billie Dean" on A-net, if you search for 727-100's at CYEG - in fact, it's the same plane as the one in your screenshots - C-FPXD. It later went to First Air.
  2. Great to see you posting again, Tom, and what a terrific livery!
  3. I bought a new backup copy of FS9 a few weeks ago from Amazon U.S., along with FSX Gold (six years after release, guess I'm a little late). FS9 came in a proper plastic game case, unlike the cardboard version I originally bought for $22 in 2005. A glance at Amazon tonight shows they're still selling the version in the retro tin for $14. Old FS9 will continue to have a lot of entertainment value for years to come, poll or no poll.
  4. Active Sky and WideFS are must-haves......
  5. Disappointed, but I can't fault Quality Wings for their decision, or the way they've handled it. A class act all the way. I do agree that using a niche product like the 146 to gauge sales demand may be a bit inaccurate, but I'm not the one risking his time and capital to develop these things.

  7. Thank you for letting me know about that, Paul...I had no idea that such a utility existed. Now that I see the unfortunate news on the other forum that Quality Wings has decided to make their upcoming 787 only for FSX, I may have to buy a few things for that sim after all. Sad that there doesn't seem to be an equivalent in FSX for Overland's excellent Japanese airports, which will be the natural habitat for the 787, but I guess you can't have everything.
  8. God's own airplane! Excellent! (note screen name)
  9. I also enjoy reading about the experiences of others as they evolve in their enjoyment of the sim(s). As for me, I recently picked up a computer very capable of running FSX, and have tried it out with many of the airport sceneries and aircraft I already bought for FS9. My first impressions of FSX are generally positive, but I keep coming back to FS9.5, which runs brilliantly at a locked 30 fps just about everywhere in the virtual world. I've found the relative lack of freeware scenery for FSX disappointing, as the equivalent of Pete & Sid's airports for Canada and Alaska doesn't appear to be available. As I love flying Buffalo's routes across the NWT (as seen on TV!), this is a bit of drag. And the idea of re-buying GE, UT, and the like is daunting. Plus, I really find myself missing FS Navigator when flying FSX, as others here have also noted.....
  10. The existence of this forum would tend to indicate otherwise....what prompted the question?
  11. <swoons> Wow, Ed...Connie would be proud! (and impressed).
  12. Great shots, Niclas. I'm also amazed by the ground textures - very nice indeed!
  13. Absolutely stunning, Ed! Didn't think your previous 742 panel could be bested, but you've managed it. Waiting (im) patiently for the video.....
  14. Great news, especially that there's an FS9 version released. Even though I now have a new PC on order, I'm still planning on installing my extensive FS9 virtual world on it. This new KATL should run very well! :yahoo:
  15. Best advice I can give is for you to install Process Explorer ( http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb896653.aspx ) and run it. It will tell you if any processes are using CPU cycles while you're simming, and you can stop them (temporarily) to see if this solves your slowdown. If you're running antivirus software, you might try disabling it as well. This is a good start with troubleshooting FS problems. Please let us know how that goes.
  16. Sunday in the park with George (and airplane)! Manifique!
  17. Sorry you're having problems, Ian. It sounds like you have a permissions issue in Windows 7. DId you turn off UAC and DEP in your Windows control panel? And you're installing as Administrator for all programs? I don't know if you have your antivirus software enabled, but it might be a good idea to disable it while you're installing new stuff. Hope you get it sorted.
  18. Definitely great news, Ed, and I'm hoping the King Air gets ported over as well!
  19. Thank you for that. I believe that Aerosoft's EDDM and Leipzig sceneries have such a feature, so it's feasible in FS9, if not easy for developers.
  20. Are you sure about that? I just scanned the FlightBeam forum, and other than a vague statement about wanting to make more sceneries for FSX, I couldn't find any indication that he wasn't going to make an FS9 version. Too bad if he doesn't, as the shots I've seen of the FSX version indicate that he nailed it. Never had the SimFlyers version, so I use the Mach 1 scenery, which is very good.
  21. That SimSavvy stuff is pretty amazing. I've flown into Telluride before, and that definitely captures the place. A very challenging airport.
  22. Terrific! Especially like that barrier rigged at the end of the runway; wonder what that's for....sailplanes?
  23. Great shots, Niclas. Looks like your new PC is treating you well.
  24. Well, the first point is a feature, not a bug, and as to the second I've always been content to know the Mona Lisa exists without having a copy over my mantle.
