  1. Great job on the real-world angles in that sequence; it would have been interesting to see the 380 getting in there....lightly loaded, one presumes.
  2. Do I spy a vintage Cathay Pacific scheme? Excellent!
  3. The return of the mighty MK 742! And on a historic route, too. A nice surprise for a Monday morning.
  4. Really great series, Niclas. I assume the deicing vehicles are part of the new AES update?
  5. A class action over mesh? I'm sure I deserve recompense of some kind for that annoying plateau at my local airport......
  6. Fantastic! It's the wrong side up, though....
  7. I just bought CYUL last night, and of course it looks amazing in both FS9 and FSX. Thanks for continuing to support the even-older sim, George, and I can't wait to see what's next!
  8. Well, Herr Kok of Aerosoft has been announcing his intent to move away from FS9 for several years now, so that's nothing new. Aerosoft has still released many FS9 versions of airports in the meantime, despite these proclamations. And frankly, I already have so many places to fly in the FS9 virtual world that I can't find time to visit them all anyway. I applaud Ian's suggestion to approach the authors of older AI models to request further work be allowed, as FS9 is a vast canvas with many more corners yet to be filled in, or retouched. I would also point out the example of Falcon 4.0, which is soldiering on 14 years after release with a completely new graphics engine due to the efforts of dedicated community members, and Battle of Britain II, and so on.
  9. Those really look fantastic, and by coincidence I just reinstalled the Level-D on my new PC a few days ago, so these will be perfect for my South American routes. Muy bien!
  10. That looks really good, Scott. Please keep us updated on your progress.
  11. I've always had that problem with their Springbank scenery on mulitple computers, at least in summer. Winter ground textures don't seem to flicker. Too bad, as it really is an excellent rendition of the airport. I get some minor flickering at their CYYC as well, mostly with parking lot textures, but the problem isn't nearly as bad as at CYBW. I've tried replacing the grass textures and messing around with vertex levels in the past, to no avail. It might be a mesh conflict issue, as I use the detailed FSG mesh for the local area.
  12. I upgraded to an all-new PC last October, and the effect on FS9 was amazing. I have FSX, but only dabble with it as FS9 is so smooth and clear (almost no blurries!) that it's just a joy to fly now. I can fly into LatinVFR's Miami airport with the photoreal scenery at a constant locked 30 fps with the new computer, whereas the old E8500/GTX 260 would slow down to 10 fps at times in that area. It's really a relief to leave the FPS counter off and just fly the sim now, in any location and AI setting I care to use. So FS9 can definitely benefit from one more hardware upgrade!
  13. Hard to beat a Classic 747 at TNCM, and you captured it brilliantly, Stian! Hope to see more shots like this in future.
  14. Great mod of Ed's fantastic repaint, and great shots too!
  15. Terrific shots, Niclas. Great to see Salzburg as a destination, too; used to fly out of there constantly doing the DA Fokker tutorial.
  16. Congratulations Niclas; that's some great looking work there! Please advise us when the download is available.
  17. The Galeb is indeed great, despite its age, and I also recommend Thomas Nilsson's SAAB Draken, a freeware jet fighter which is high quality and challenging to fly.
  18. Terrific shots of a great airport scenery, Stian! Very well done.
  19. I should also mention the IL-2 franchise as a viable option, as it features an amazing amount of content, great aircraft detail and accuracy, and runs on Windows 7 (as long as it's installed outside of the Program Files folder, standard procedure for MSFS users anyway). Still has a big active user base, too.
  20. DCS and it's various permutations would of course be the best option based on your requirements, but I'd still have to vote for Rise of Flight as my choice. Amazing flight model and immersion, and they keep releasing new content for it. I'd love an update of the old MiG Alley too, as Korean War sims are few and far between. Probably too limited in appeal for a mass-market title these days, though. Shockwave's Battle of Britain II is excellent, and still being supporting by the community. I'd also recommend checking the forums and reviews at SimHQ.com to get a sense of what combat sims are available now, and their status.
  21. Check your Spanair AI texture files; there used to be a problem with oversize texture files for some of the Spanair AI models. If you search the web for "Spanair AI textures" you will find some discussion of this issue and possible fixes on other forums.
  22. Now you've done it, Rob....I'll have to install ROF on my new PC now and check out the update. I've been curious to see how well it would run on the new hardware, but hadn't gotten around to it yet. (Great shots, BTW. ROF had a shaky start but is now a really well-supported sim).
  23. Thanks for the heads up, Ian. I'll definitely be picking up Antalya and Dusseldorf during this sale.
  24. The Wilco E-jets are actually pretty good, although for what you're trying to achieve I think the QualityWings Avro RJ series would be a better bet. They're complex too, but not terribly so, and they look amazing in every category (2D, VC and external model). Easy on framerate, too.
