  1. I tried it for FS9 when it was released a few years ago, but it never did work. Emailed the developer and after one response, which didn't fix the problem, they stopped responding. Use with caution.
  2. Sad to see them move on with CYYZ, but not a surprise and understandable. They're a great bunch and their older airports continue to brighten my FS9 experience considerably. I still hold out hope that they will release a "lite" version of YSSY for FS9 at some point, but that seems like a stretch.
  3. An epic journey, Harald, and well chronicled. Keep 'em coming! :Applause:
  4. The first hotfix was released earlier today, an 82 mb patch. The fix list looks mostly like minor stuff, and couldn't see anything related to the FDE, but a quick test with my system does seem to indicate that framerates are better after the patch.
  5. Look at 3dsoftworks.net and/or FlightSim.com; the file is still hosted at both locations as "six default fixes".
  6. Thanks for this post, Ed! I probably would have missed this otherwise. Gave me a chance to acquire the rest of their product catalog for a ridiculously low price. I too wish they would add FS9 versions of the TBM and PC-12....someday....
  7. One of the best tools for FS I've ever seen. Worked a treat on my setup with no problems noted. Thanks Peter!
  8. I've done a few test flights in it since buying it yesterday, and overall I think it's a solid product. The VC is better than the one in the 737 as far as clarity goes, and my framerates were pretty consistently locked at 30, except for a few moments at major airports when they dipped into the 20's. Autoflight was solid throughout the flight regime. It does seem to use more memory than even the PMDG MD-11, but not a lot more. Only two liveries available right now, but the devs said today on their forum that a livery pack is forthcoming.
  9. I bought it today, and am impressed by it after a few test flights, the only caveat being the rather high system requirements. I had a couple of OOM errors with it, but finally managed to close enough background processes to successfully complete a test flight from Heathrow to Zurich. Also ran the 4gb patch on my executable again for good measure before my successful flight. For reference, the virtual size of FS9 according to Process Explorer grew to over 2 gb once on the ground at FSDT's LSZH, and that's due to the large memory footprint of the 747, and not a memory leak. Framerates are good, and the VC quality is amazing. Recommended for those with sufficient hardware.
  10. Me too, especially since their predecessor outfit made a scenery for PHX long ago. I have the FlightBeam version for FSX, which is great, but unfortunately that's not my heavy-iron sim at the moment. I do enjoy the Mach1 scenery for FS9 however, as that's one of their best efforts, and very nearly payware quality.
  11. That's the "taxable" price; without VAT it's more like $31.50 USD, which is high but not uncommon for other new release sceneries from them, like Shanghai, which is still the same price as Austin. I'll probably get it, as there's not a lot of payware stuff available for the Central time zone.
  12. I think it's the same install option for both airports, except I'm using FS9 so it's more like 512 versus 1024. I do use the higher res textures for Dublin, but it's a lot smaller airport than Heathrow so no noticeable stutters for me.
  13. I just upgraded to the Aerosoft Xtended version of EGLL (lower price for upgraders, too), and it's pretty good. Never used the UK2000 version, so can't compare. There's an option to skip the hi-res textures when installing, which I recommend because the hi-res version was a real stutter-fest on short final. The lower res textures are still an improvement over the previous version, and look fine IMHO.
  14. Great news! I was just looking at the screenshots on the iFly site, and they're very promising. I especially like the extra features to automate and speed up the long haul trips, and the VC seems very sharp. Guess I'll have to order the PilotsEye 744 disk now....
  15. Yes, thanks to those of you who posted your experience with this airport here; you saved me from making a purchase I'd certainly regret. Too bad, as DD used to be a trusted developer, but no more.
  16. I suggest trying to reinstall your American Airlines traffic using the latest version available from the WOAI site (Avsim library, really). There was a bug in a version that was released a year ago, and the latest version fixes it. Worth a try, anyway.
  17. Gorgeous 737 model by TDS; I'm curious as to which airport you've captured it at. Can't quite place it.
  18. The old Aerosoft scenery with the texture update by Stas Jessy is still pretty decent looking, and is AES compatible too. Your best bet in FS9.
  19. MSFS is more of a cottage industry, with low volumes and small development teams. As has been already pointed out, it's really not comparable with the mass market video game industry. It's certainly possible to reach personal bankruptcy in this hobby if one is not careful - I still fly FS9 for this reason, as well as for performance. The mass-market in video games now outgrosses most Hollywood features, so they can afford to cut their prices to low levels to chase that last bit of revenue once a title has been out for a while. You'll enjoy Mass Effect, although it's pretty tough in certain areas.
  20. That's a shame, Ed. From what I've observed it does seem to be a rush job by DD. Hopefully they'll patch it into usability at some point.
  21. Great news! Baku will be an interesting destination from a variety of airports, much like Tallinn is now. And I see that the new Moscow UUEE is also available this morning by the same developer for FS9.
  22. I'm sure it will be amazing when you get it done, Ed. Hell, I struggle just trying to operate the finished products, never mind trying to create them in the first place, so all FS heavy-iron developers are awe-inspiring in my book. Hang in there!
  23. Gorgeous, Ed! Wish Lockheed had sold a thousand of 'em.
  24. Sorry, your post about not modding the airport wasn't visible before I asked if you were using an addon scenery. Are you using any addon airports elsewhere in Japan? FS9 can access scenery from a long distance on occasion. Oh, and I noticed that the anonymous "one-star bandit" had visited this thread, so I voted it 5 stars to offset the foolishness. If you're using World of AI, try downloading and installing the latest American Airlines package. There was a bad texture in the package when first released last year, which they quickly fixed, but not before some people (like me) had downloaded it. It caused me no end of problems before a visit to the WOAI forums uncovered the problem. Good luck!
