  1. I ran into this issue a few years ago and this was the response from Luciano: Wideview Reset: Please try deleting completely the following key from the registry: Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\sof#8203;tware\Microsoft\LMP364W This is done by running Windows registry editor (regedit.exe) This will force the software to start a new registration procedure from scratch. Please make sure you are logged in as system administrator and do not login as a different user later whey flying.

We're planning on having all products compatible by release date. As usual, free update for customers.
  3. I would send Luciano an email with the issue. He is very responsive but doesn't check his forum that often. His email is: info@wideview.it Cheers

  5. It's released. I just finished downloading it
  6. Shows up on their homepage when I link to it.. http://www.flightbeam.net/
  7. My B747-400 is a compilation from several sources and, as such, impossible to price out. With the wrap around visual system think around $200K total. There are two sites that I would direct anyone to who is contemplating building a flightdeck. I have worked with the folks at Flightdeck Solutions since I launched this insanity about 10 years ago. For a more global perspective I would recommend looking at the other pits discussed at cockpitbuilders.com http://www.cockpitbuilders.com/community/index.php http://www.flightdecksolutions.com/ Enough of hijacking the thread. Cheers, Jon
  8. PPL 1970, Instrument Rating 1985. Currently inactive as wife won't fly and boring holes in the sky became meaningless. Now a sim pilot with a pit getting my kicks from flying real world procedures into interesting airports. Cheers, Jon
  9. Look at UT2. It doesn't use a BGL to compile the AI traffic and therefore will not be shutdown when you go online.
  10. Actually, you can use WidevieW to run multiple applications of FSX. Use one as the server that connects all of your interfaces but has the out of cockpit graphics set to low. Then run your TH2GO on the client computer for the scenery stuff and set the sliders accordingly. I'm using that approach with a twist. Three clients projecting a seamless left/center/right projected image on a curved screen for a full 180 degree wrap around effect on the flightdeck. With FS9 the clouds and traffic are not synchronized so it was unsatisfactory. With FSX, if you also use WideTraffic, the AI as well as the clouds synchronize.Cheers
  11. Hi guys,Interesting questions. Regarding the angle between the front projector and the left/right during a climb or decent, I haven't noticed any distortion. The following two pictures show either a climb or decent. Look inside the Pit at the PFD and you can see which is which.A bit of help. The above picture is during climbRegarding the other question on straight ahead view versus side views....I originally used Wideview with a front view and a left/right view angled at 60 degrees. The sense of motion from peripheral vision was very real. I have been pleasantly surprised that the same effect is noticed with my current curved screen, as the curvature fills the front windscreen. I have asked the question of the Sol7 developers if, in fact, if you build a full 180 degree wrap around screen if you can look down the intersecting taxiway or not. The question is still outstanding. In any case, the sense of motion that I got with Wideview is replicated with the current configuration.Cheers,Jon
  12. Sorry about that. It's been awhile since I posted anything and was distracted by the note on the attachement page that limited upload size to 1.8 Mb.Anyway, here it is again, reduced below 200 kb.
  13. Hi,Several folks are using beamers, particularly the "pit" builder looking for realistic out of cockpit scenery. Attached is a quick pic of a 3-projector system using a Matrox Triple Head 2 Go system and the Immersiview Sol7 geometric correction software to fit the image to a curved screen. As you can see if you look closely in the upper left hand corner, KJFK with the enhanced airport scenery and UT2 with 80% Airline traffic takes its toll. There is also still a bit of work to do on the edge butting where the three projector images align (or don't).CheersImage deleted, over the 200K file size limit, attachements must comply with Avsim posting rules
  14. I was only getting 54kb last week while downloading Colorado. Used two computers to get my 15 files done. It wasn't my ISP, since I got 54 kb on both computers when I fired the second one up. The server must be really busy. If figured it was just the load.
  15. True. However, the cockpit builder also spends big bucks on their decks. How much would you have to charge for a full interface to recover your costs and make a reasonable profit? $1K, $5K, $10K? A SDK wouldn't do it since it can be copied and distributed. You'd need a DLL that was specific to the PMDG user license or something along that line that would convert from your proprietary offsets to something "standard" that could be interfaced to for the switches and lights. Something tied to the serial number of the hardware unit (CDU, MCP, etc) would let you recover your costs their also.Anyway, I've got over $50K into my sim and still not done. And there are several more like me. Granted, it's a niche, a small niche. However, if the price is set accordingly, it's doable.Thoughts?Cheers,Jon

  17. Thanks guys,The other threads give me lots to go look at.
  18. FSX has been running fine until this message started showing up when the application was closed. FSX w/Acceleration. GEX, UTX, FEX, XP-Pro, 4 GB RAMCheers,
  19. Nick,Thanks. That was it.Cheers
  20. A quick question.. I've got Vista and FSX. Ran into a problem recently when I attempted to defrag -- I get 8 files at the end that are "frag'd" and end up with 47% fragmentation overall. Using O&O defrag.I had an issue with one of Justin's mesh files and uninstalled it, so I might have an intergalactic compressed file lurking out there somehwere that I can't identify.Thoughts anyone?Cheers
  21. Very interesting. A quick question... although the AI isn't visible in the daytime is it enabled in ATC? Dusk/night only? Not at all?Jon
  22. I think I'm missing something...The question was a single core 3.8 GHz processor versus a dual-core unit (AMD or Intel, doesn't matter). Looking at the E6700, you have 2.67, or thereabouts versus 3.8 for the "old technology" P4. Considering the limitations in FSX in utilizing a dual-core processor, which offers the better performance for flight simualator, forgetting any other game application? The first response said get the 3.8, everyone elses response shifted to only dual-core technology as the way to go. Why?
  23. Sorry if I've missed this topic previously....I had the pleasure (and great opportunity) to spend several hours flying the Boeing 777 and 747 Level D simulators at UAL's training center recently. One of the huge differences between FS9 and the "real thing" is that the scenery, while in general is less detailed than that with add-on packages for Flight Simulator, presents the airport -- runways, VASI, approach lighting, etc. as rock solid. When you think about it, that's really what's important for a pilot -- being able to land, not whether the bay at KSFO has whitecaps on the water. Which leads me to suggest possibly a priority setting in FSX? If graphics requirements are really high, use a setting to shed the "eye candy" but keep the airport top quality if you are interested in flight training. Maybe in FSX one can select low resolution default scenery but high resolution airports to eliminate the artifacts that we've all seen in FS9, but....Thoughts?
