I feel sorry for all those who have invested heavily in training to become a pilot and mechanics. If you want a flying career now it sounds like the military is the only option. Ted

It was fixed and working yesterday afternoon but now it is down again. Did someone hack into the system? Ted
-
Not working currently here either.

CS B727-200F at Alaska's Last Frontier (Yakutat)

Understood coming from a VC10 man. I flew the BOAC VC10 a lot in the 60's between London and the middle east. I loved it also. Ted -
I did a bit of research on the FSLabs Concorde OOM issue before I bought it. I would not have bought it if I didn't think I could run it at 4k. I do have to make sacrifices but as Ray stated, to operate at 1080 on a large 4k monitor is not acceptable. For scenery I only have ORBX global and the departure and arrival airports enabled. My P3Dv3 settings are mostly turned down to medium. Fortunately you can save the entire panel state of this aircraft so I do that at mid-flight. To clear some of my virtual address space I then restart the sim, reload the flight, and finish the flight. I am hoping that FSLabs honors their word and provides a 64 bit version as one of the reasons that I bought the 32 bit version in the first place was to show support and provide them funds to help develop the promised 64 bit version. If they don't, that will most likely be my last purchase from FSLabs. Ted

The seats in the old planes were also wider and had more padding, if they were not too worn out. Interesting about the last 727 passenger flight being an Iranian flight. I believe the last 707 passenger flight was also Iranian by Saha Airlines. Ted -

Great thread. Brought back memories of the last 727 I flew around 2000. A girlfriend of mine and I flew on American Airlines from Miami to Grenada to get on a Windjammer cruise (also gone unfortunately). I didn't check what type of aircraft we were flying but was excited when we got to the gate in Miami and saw it was a 727. I hadn't seen one in so long that I thought that they had all been retired. We had seats in the front so with all the engines in the rear it was nice and quiet once at cruise. Due to its age it had a lot of rattles and creaks during takeoff, taxi, and landing though. To me that just enhanced the experience. My girlfriend never could understand why I was so excited about flying that ratty old worn out plane. That flight and the sailing cruise was one of my best and most memorable vacations, especially looking back in these days of covid lockdown. I also am still hoping that Captain Sim will bring back the 727 and 707 for P3Dv5 and/or MSFS. Ted -
I'm concerned that this AH Concorde announcement will put the final nails in the coffin for the FSLabs version. Ted

Thanks for taking the time to write this post Jay. That was very informative and interesting. Ted

Question regarding Flight1 B200 V2
Ted Striker replied to Hammer308's topic in MS FSX | FSX-SE Forum
I don't have this aircraft but my only thought would be, have you asked on the Flight 1 forums? -
That is really good to know. It has gotten to the point in this hobby that I don't even consider addons that aren't from enthusiastic and passionate developers with good support. Ted
-
Thanks all, I'm going to give the demo a try. Ted
-
Words of inside knowledge that those that are trying to hack in addons before they are ready should probably consider. Thanks, Ted
-
Rob, Considering this, are you using P3Dv5 HF1 or staying with the original release version for now? I am curious as there are a lot of other fixes in HF1. Ted

I tried FSPassengers for awhile eons ago. One thing I found entertaining was the passengers would groan if I flew poorly, especially after a bad landing and cheer if I made good landing. Does FSCaptain do this? Ted

I like the analogy Alan. So like a pilot, the question on reopening is are you going to be a bold citizen or an old cititzen? Ted

Flying the "Flying Tiger" "Over the Top"...!
Ted Striker replied to P_7878's topic in The AVSIM Screen Shots Forum
I can only imagine that the flight engineers had their eyes glued to the systems instruments while over the ice. And they probably got the question "Is everything Ok?" every 10 minutes. Thanks for the history and the pictures. The 707 is one of my favorite aircraft. I sure hope Captain Sim brings it back for P3Dv5. Ted -
Gotta say, it took quite a bit of internet mining to find it, but fun. Thanks, Ted & Silver (the horse)

Well I put the old nag on autopilot, kicked back, and took a siesta. She bucked me off after she arrived at the old ghost town of Goldstone, CA. Specifically the Goldstone radio telescope at the Goldstone Deep Space Communications Complex. She wants some hay and oats now.....and water.😎

Ok, I'll give the horse some water and head north....🐎

I just installed the PMDG DC-6. This will be a great refresher course for navigating old school in it. Thanks, Ted
