  1. I still use FSX, P3Dv3, and P3Dv4 due to addons made for them that are not available for succeeding sims. I expect to continue using them after MSFS2020 is released. A couple things I have learned over the decades in this hobby: 1) The new product never lives up to the expectations from the marketing. Closer sometime than others. 2) Unless a fairly complete SDK is released long in advance of the release of the new sim, it will be awhile before you will see your favorite addons converted after the new sim is released, if at all. 3) Enjoy what you got now. Compared to where we started in this hobby, My P3Dv4.5 looks and performs pretty darn good and I am very pleased with it. If an addon I like is released for P3Dv4, I will buy it. Oh one other thing that I have noticed in the past. It is usually those that say I will never buy for that sim or from that developer again that usually purchase the latest and greatest at release from either and then complain the most about it, vowing never again. Not pointing any fingers, just mentioning the humor it has provided me over the years. Ted
  2. No thanks, 3.5 hours from denver to the east coast is about the limit my body can take sitting. They would need to put a workout gym on that Sydney flight to get me on it. But then a bunch of people working out in a sealed tube for half a day would be introduce another problem entirely.
  3. No offense or disrespect intended Bill. I wasn't inferring that you should travel to France. I know it is expensive enough just to attend a sim conference in the US must less travel to Europe. Near the end of the Avsim interview I got the impression that Asobo was encouraging third party developers to collaborate with them on the development of the SDK. All I meant by my comment was that I would have expected Milviz and Simbol to contact Asobo about this. Apparently Asobo is being selective with regards to the 3rd party developers that they are collaborating with. I was just thinking out loud like everyone else on the forums that doesn't have any inside information. Ted
  4. Well I stand corrected again. Thanks for posting that. I thought that I had listened to that interview, but perhaps not or not very carefully. I wonder why Simbol and Milviz have not taken advantage of that option? as I recall it was Father Bill an Simbol that said their was not SDK information available. But i could be mistaken....yet again.... I am glad to hear that some developers are involved in the development of the SDK. Ted
  5. After I made that post a couple of developers have stated that they do not have any more information on MSFS than the public does. So the question I am pondering now is does PMDG have exclusive MSFS SDK information or has Robert Randazzo, the master of marketing, taken a gamble and made the announcement he did to enhance the current sales for the NGXu. He said that he "expects" the NG3 for MSFS to be $139. The word "expects" leaves the door wide open to increase the price if MSFS is found to be more difficult to develop for than they assumed or to even cancel development for MSFS if it is found to be too onerous. The mystery novel continues but in the mean time I am very happy with P3D and I will continue to buy the addons I like for it. Ted
  6. PMDG doesn't make business decisions haphazardly based on some marketing development schedules and screenshots. To announce that their next major project will be for MSFS you can infer that they have enough detailed knowledge of the design of MSFS that they could determine their cost of developing addons for it and what the public interest will be in the platform. This announcement was a seal of approval from a major developer. That is good news to me. Contrast this with RSR's comments on MS Flight when it was announced. A lot of developers have gone quiet on MSFS since it was announced. I am looking forward to a similar announcement from FSLabs and I hope it includes good news about the Concorde2020. Ted
  7. I got so tired of this that I stopped updating. I'm still on P3Dv4.2 with addons of the same vintage but I get to spend all my sim time flying instead of maintaining/tweaking now. I threw in the towel and decided if it works fine, don't mess with it. When I upgrade my computer I will get current.....for a little while. I don't know what version of FB KIAD I have but it looks great. Ted
  8. I have Thrustmaster Top Gun throttle/joystick combo. It was the predecessor to the current Thrustmaster T.Flight line and looks identical to them except mine is silver. I wish it was a little more precise but for the price it has been great and reliable. I don't use FSUIPC, the thrustmaster software, or any other hardware software. All my calibration is done through the sim interface. I use this throttle/joystick combo with CH Pedals. The only time I have had trouble with the any of the axes is when I had two axes assigned to the same function. i.e. both the CH Pedals and joystick twist grip assigned to the rudder. So all I can think of to suggest is to check all of your axes assignments and make sure you don't have two thing trying to control the same function. This is the first that I've heard of the proximity problem that you described...but then we are getting close to Halloween Ted
  9. Wasn't your username "Uninstaller" at one time. You can't get anything past the MS database. They're messing with you!
  10. I'm not. I was just trying to add some humor to the thread. I think PMDG make top notch products. In fact I'm hoping that the reason PMDG postponed their JS41 and FSLabs postponed their Concorde is because better flight and engine modeling will be available in MSFS2020.
  11. Correct you are. They say your memory is the first to go, or is that the second....
  12. "Currently most members of the team are working 12h/day 6 or 7 days a week" Most of the PMDG staff is averaging 80 hour work weeks. Translation (pick one): A. The next product is going to make the current ones look cheap. B. The DC-3 just got back from an Atlantic crossing and needs everyone on maintenance, specifically oil smudge cleaning and aluminum buffing. C. They've been quiet on MSFS like the other large developers because MS has got them under NDA, also like a lot of other folks, and they have been working hard to understand the draft SDK that keeps changing with every MSFS announcement. And to quote the famous Colonel Shultz.......I know nothing.....
  13. Oh, and don't forget they don't want it to affect their FPS and they want it now.
  14. As soon as someone post a tweak and another person says it works great we will be off to the races....... It doesn't matter what MS says to the contrary. Its in our blood.
  15. Interesting data Umberto. Thanks for posting these results of your tests. Would you mind posting what the timings were on your 2133 and 3000 RAM. I have found that these also make a difference. Thanks, Ted
  16. I agree with your point on the main sim and most of what you said in your post. However in this case, Simbol has developed a product that improves the lights on freeware AI traffic and UTLive and other AI payware addons that use freeware AI models. I am going to buy it because Simbol is one heck of a nice guy and to show support for all he has contributed to this hobby. He also has a great looking marketing team. What does his addon do again? Regarding all of the other addons. I am glad that we have the opportunity and choice to buy them at all. Ted
  17. I'll keep running win7 on my sim box with an image backup and on a dedicated network. My other win7 computers are being replaced with Apple products. MSFS runs on DirectX 11. That's all I needed to know. I have a can do attitude. Ted
  18. Why failing? They are certainly keeping the hype alive with minimal new information.
  19. What better way to quench the speculative and fake news posts and videos than to make people feel special and put them under NDA. This isn't the first lap around the racetrack for Microsoft Marketing. Ted
  20. I made a comment on this issue a little while ago but I did not see anyone else mentioning it. Surprisingly it behaves correctly on my Ipad so I just assumed that I had my firefox and internet explorer browsers locked down too tightly. My work around has been been to download the initial batch of unread activity, then repeatedly execute "download more activity" until I have the duration of new post data that I want to browse. Then I go back to the top and I can scan down smoothly to the end. Much easier than trying to remember where I left off and scroll back up for each new batch. Ted
  21. .....not to mention how to monitor the FMS operation and what to do when VNAV goes wonky on you........I've been practicing that a lot lately........
  22. I didn't realize that Xboxes had that much performance capabilities. In the past they didn't offer as much as a semi high end custom built PC. I guess times have changed. Ted
  23. I remember that you recently posted a video showing that you were already using more VRAM than the 11gb my 1080ti has. So 8k will probably need some 40 gb plus of VRAM. Not to worry, I'm sure Nvidia will give us a great deal on a video card with that.
