  1. Here you go: Aircraft Basics - FSEconomy Operations Guide (google.com) A bit messy, but you can get there. FSE is usually pretty good about updating the most commonly used planes, so if you wait a bit, it might just pop up anyway.
  2. Trust me, I've no intention of getting into that discussion 🙂 Sometimes it's enough just to throw in a cite.
  3. Merriam-webster.com: Is the Word awesome Overused? Many object to the use of awesome to describe something (such as a sandwich) that does not literally elicit feelings of awe. Yet the same people who insist that awesome should be used only of weighty subjects (Niagara Falls, man landing on the moon) will happily use the word awful in reference to something (such as a mess) that falls distinctly short of being “full of awe.” This weakened sense was once considered improper – in fact, complaints about it persisted through the early decades of the 20th century. The change in meaning that awesome is undergoing may be more recent than that of awful, but both words are treading the same path. For evidence that such change is normal, we need look no further than awe, which originally meant “terror” and now carries the weaker sense “wonder.”
  4. Excellent. Those old enough might remember the BBC's spaghetti trees.
  5. My only complaint is that I now don't know whether to buy this or one of the Spits! First world problems 🙂
  6. That's more than a fair offer. Deal done. Edit: Bought. Installing. Edit 2: and I now have post-update stutters that are affecting all my planes, so I will say nothing about this bird till I get that sorted. Plainly not a JF issue.
  7. I was going to grab this today, but the wildly differing views have me now in a quandry. There's an excellent You Tube video from an Irish instructor saying it's like the real thing; and a bunch of others saying it's nothing like it. I've seen amazingly crisp cockpit textures... and a bunch of criticisms that it's FSX/P3D level. I can't recall that degree of variation about pretty much any addon, ever (and I've been around a bit). I think I'm gonna wait. JF - if you want to sort out the waiters among us, I think you need to reduce your prices. £30 is FSX/P3D. Make it £20, and I'm in. I think that's the new world - and when the XBox version lands, it's going to make you a fortune. Sell more, for less. But the reviews are so wildly varied that I'm not prepared to go over the odds today for a sim where I can fly the CJ4 for nowt.
  8. Longfellow about MSFS: When she was good, She was very good indeed, But when she was bad she was horrid.
  9. And there I was thinking this was a bit of flattery for our hardworking Moderators... 😉
  10. Thanks Mace; I misread it. I thought the turbo was ONLY the PA III, but I now see the new one will include the IV. Decisions, decisions!
  11. Not being a forum cop but there's a release thread here: Just Flight PA-28R Arrow III (for MSFS) released - Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020) - The AVSIM Community Which might be a good place to continue this discussion. Just a thought.
  12. Aha, so trickily the thing is being discussed in the preview thread here: Just Flight Piper Arrow III Preview - Page 35 - Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020) - The AVSIM Community Where I think Xender meant to post the above to follow up his earlier post!
  13. Very nearly just pressed go, but I am thinking: do I need two of these? Shall I just get the turbo version? Anyone know what I'll be missing, if I only opt for that? If it's "faster and higher" and all else is the same, I guess I'll wait.
  14. Be aware that you can't simply choose an aircraft - but there are ways to tweak the files to change that. Otherwise you're stuck with the BT's settings for plane, time, weather etc. Edit: also: sounds an amazing choice!
  15. They do a good job with the dunes, though, I reckon! And for cliffs the same trip just took me past these: https://photos.app.goo.gl/Zw86WwMzPEbntW418
  16. Yes - same site, this one: UK Bush Trip 4. North and West Coast of Scotland. • Microsoft Flight Simulator - excellent, with some of the most spectacular views in the UK. Also shorter legs, and some tricky landings, including one that had me end up in a Loch... 🙂 If you're happy missing England, this is worth trying first perhaps. Go to activities/bush flights, once you've popped the thing in your Community folder. Then just follow the instructions. There is, for this one, a complete flight plan with every one of 200 or so POIs specified all the way around the coast. But most of the direction/timing instructions, together with the descriptions, would let you fly it without GPS help, I reckon. I enjoy that "pathfinder" aspect of some of the BTs. It is by the same bloke, as far as I can see. I intend to do that next - since it'll take in some amazing parts of Wales/the Lake District/Highlands etc. I chose the East Coast route only because I'd just finished the Scottish tour I've linked above, so I fancied a change.

  18. I'm most of the way through this excellent bush trip and thought it deserved a short review. I like the MSFS bush trips. A chance to see something new and often with some challenging strips to negotiate. This one has fewer of the latter (so far at least) and the legs between landings are long - up to an hour each. It pays to recall that the sim will remember where you are if you quit part through a leg. This trip covers the famous John O Groats to Lands End trip - but unusually it takes us by the east coast. The route is comprehensive and rarely takes a shortcut across the water. I've flown most of it by hand or by heading, handing off to nav when the scenery bewitched me. And gorgeous the scenery is. I am totally spoiled for my other sims. The water masks in particular - and this is a coastal route - are amazingly organic, varied and occasionally just eye popping. I suspect the UK update has improved it, too - there are some lovely crisp detailed models of Lindisfarne and Bamburgh castles. The writing is intelligent and interesting and I learned a lot about my own country. Who knew you could visit the only West-facing harbour on the East coast? I spotted one mistake (a missing POI) in the 1st or 2nd leg but otherwise not even a typo. It's a very, very professional job. So good, in fact, that I've made the whole trip with no time compression. Save for a short stretch in East Anglia. Sorry, Norfolk folk, but it's a bit flat for this Yorkshireman 😉 In short: go grab it for something different, entertaining, interesting and educational. And free, of course. Available here: John O'Groats to Land's End (East Coast) • Microsoft Flight Simulator
  19. Nice video. I am wondering how this improves on the WT version of the CJ4 - a quick view suggests that the existing mod might be at least as good as this for a small jet. But it does look very nice.
  20. "Study level", compound adjective: 1) Describes complex software enabling the user to learn real-world techniques and information about the subject; 2) Describes PMDG's justification for 3-figure prices for addons, making the initial sim investment look slim; 3) Describes a wish to ensure that one's significant other does not think you are playing a game (see also "video game") Etc. 🙂
  21. Maybe try creating a new account, and submit a ticket in the new account to ask for help with the old one? Frustrating, I'm sure, when you seem to go round and round with these things, and I can't see a simple "support@" email for them, as you say.
  22. Have you tried just emailing them? Their support has always been very good, in my experience.
  23. Nice preview here (that seems to confirm the breakers work - or some of them): (36) MSFS JUST FLIGHT ARROW PREVIEW | VR HP REVERB G2 - YouTube
