I like the blue haze on #3. Do you happen to remember the settings you were using on this? Thanks a lot, great screenies.

ORBX World is here!
Sure, go on and delete everything. Nothing can be better than an orbx scenery, even if its just a set of textures plus autogen.

Which nvidia GTX 680?
litgeorge replied to rwy12's topic in Video Hardware: Monitors | Multi-Monitors | Video Cards | Drivers etcAfter much thoughts I finally bought this to replace my current GTX470. I really hope I made a good decision! 440 euros is a lot of money for a single hardware part Cheers, Jorge

Orbx England What Do You Think?
After installing FTX EU ENG I went to Spain and all coastlines were missing. I just went to FTX Central, selected FSX Default, then re-ran UTX Europe Configurator, and that fixed it. Now I can fly from/to FTX EU ENG without any issues. Enviado desde mi Desire HD usando Tapatalk 2

FTX Regions - Can more than one be active at the same time?
You could always save the flight while over the ocean, switch regions and then load flight again.

GTX470 -> GTX580
litgeorge replied to litgeorge's topic in Video Hardware: Monitors | Multi-Monitors | Video Cards | Drivers etcStephen, thanks a lot for the link. In fact, going from a 470 I understand I'll get a little more improvement than in the case of a 480 to 580 swap. And my specs are almost a copy of yours (a 2600K OC to 4.8GHz), so I think I'll take the plunge and upgrade as soon as there is stock in my computer shop. Not that my performance is bad, but I like to get as good visuals as I can, and that means cranking up the AA settings as much as possible. Thanks a lot for the answers, much appreciated. Jorge

GTX470 -> GTX580
Now that the 680s are out, I see 580s are finally reducing its price. Having currently a 470 (along with a 2600k and 8 Gigs of RAM), would I get a noticeable improvement, both performance and image quality wise, from getting a 580? Thanks in advance, Jorge

Livery Request / BAV 738 without Winglets
I made my own by just copying the texture folder from the WL repaint, and adding the corresponding entry to the aircraft.cfg, like we always did in past times. It's dirty, I know, but it worked :)

Jumping to the Sandy Bridge wagon, advice requested
litgeorge replied to litgeorge's topic in System Hardware: PC | MOBO | RAM | CPU | HDD | SSD | PSU etcAnd now they have the Thermalright HR-02 Macho in stock. Great. This was the cooler I originally had in mind, but now I have concerns about it fitting in the case with the 14 cm fan I comes bundled with... Jorge

Jumping to the Sandy Bridge wagon, advice requested
litgeorge replied to litgeorge's topic in System Hardware: PC | MOBO | RAM | CPU | HDD | SSD | PSU etcThanks for answering, gents, much appreciated. I read somewhere that the only difference between the 2500K and the 2600K is hyperthreading. But FSX doesn't make use of it, and anyway I will turn it off to achieve a higher overclock. If I'm going to get 5+ FPS more with the 2600K in the worst possible conditions (heavy scenery, lots of AI, complex aircraft), I don't mind paying 100 bucks more for it. But I don't think anyone is able to answer this question! Or is it? Best regards, Jorge

Jumping to the Sandy Bridge wagon, advice requested
Hello Captains, I am finallý upgrading my system to a Sandy Bridge based setup. I had the following items in mind: CPU: i5 2500KMOBO: Asus P8P67 PRO B3RAM: Mushkin 8 GB DDR3-2133 Kit 996996 RedLine SerieHeatsink: Prolimatech Megahalems Rev B with 2 x Coolermaster Blademaster 120mm fan This will go in an Antec P183 case, with an Asus GeForce GTX470 graphics card. Any recomendations? Should I go for a Z68 board, or an i7 2600K? I don't mind paying extra cash if I can get appreciable performance, but I don't like spending money for a marginal performance increase. This rig will run FSX and (almost) nothing more. Thanks in advance, Jorge EDIT: Of course I intend to overclock it as much as I can.
