  1. haha - a wire frame solution, I am certain he has long since retired after selling the rights to MS in the early 80"s.?
  2. My understanding is that Asobo were chosen by MS for their prior huge geographical area experience as an ideal partner for the envisaged sim. I read the blurb that their experience was streets ahead of other game developers in this area and certainly their real world game already released demonstrated this... so IMHO they would have been the obvious choice for MS. The game was released too early, but I strongly suspect that was about pressure from the parent company and they have been playing catch up ever since. Yes there has been missteps along the way. To say some other developer could have done it better is a pointless exercise. I understand the passion of this sim and the need for the "as real as it gets" demand, has led some to speculate what if scenarios
  3. Pete, my two airports so far are both payware - NZAA Auckland is a freeware modification of the default and causes no problems, and i have noticed that on more than one occasion, several payware airports load without airbridges - thought this had been addressed? So I am not certain what is causing this yet from my end.
  4. Agree totally!! But, Him?? He is here you know..you can address Bert in the first person
  5. Yep.. happened to me twice now ..each time it is at a 3rd party airport...KSAN or Shenzhen . Each time have to use task manager to abort. Restart all over again and they work fine!!!
  6. I had to smile Online servers issues - affecting live weather, traffic, and other online functionality - the other online functionalities mentioned is the scenery - not something you want to do without in VFR flight. I noticed with no online connection the default scenery is terrible - left things for the time being and will wait and see
  7. PG ?? Where? Just to add to the locations.(NZ). I am off line also.. managed the download okay then rebooted, cleared cache and took off from my local airport..hello.. weather is not right..go to check. and is in off line mode. Try to turn it on to live mode..but it will not not accept! . Rebooted ans then relaunched..now i get "cannot connect to live server" warning.
  8. Purchased..i am getting some topography errors for west Auckland. Lots of little peaks when viewed from downtown. There seems to be an issue with building sizes.. incorrect heights with some of the tallest buildings..(some are not high enough, some are a little too high.. and some newest high rise buildings are completely missing.. Also..Takapuna hi rises are mostly present but not Manukau city hi rises (except the new one) also the iconic Auckland grammer is absent, as are all the big public hospitals, except Auckland central..missing are North shore, Waitakari, Greenlane womans and Middlemore . Mount Eden doesn't have its cone shape, but view deck is there. While Orbx concentrates mostly on the waterfront and tidal edges..which kook good.. the Harbour bridge framework is way too small by comparison. I am still happy to have this though. I would like to see better topographical height map used though as grafton gully is too flat, and karangahpe road seems too low... Just my immediate feedback for those who wish to purchase this. For many who don't know Auckland it does add a good dimension to downtown. The alternative Freeware scenery is good but the height maps for Queen street are all screwed up and the newest hi rises are missing of course. It is fairly cheap to purchase the Orbx option (cost me $13. Incl tax) so i am happy with it, but hope Orbx includes Manukau city centre and the all the other big public hospitals if they can in the future.
  9. All the newest high rises are present.. including one still under construction!! Brilliant..must buy for me!!
  10. As a side note.currently enroute to Chicago from Newark in the freeware A330-900 Delta variant (Very good by the way. Super impressed it is freeware). I was getting between 51-59 FPS average at 37000 feet. I passed over a weather front with Cumulus build up and noted my FPS dropped by at least 15 fps ..down to 41-43 with heavier clouds and lightening around.
  11. A good question and the answer is yes. SU5 came out before i purchased the RTX 3080 TI. So the comparisons are post SU5. Hope that assists.
  12. I have an RTX 3080 Ti with an AMD 5600X ....and Gsync compatible 4k monitor (only 60 ms though).. at 100 percent rendering around new york with the settings on ultra..i average 41-43fps at JFK default..or Newark (Add-on). My setting are limited to 60 FPS in The Nvidia control panel..so the results are pretty smooth 90 percent of the time. Once airborne , i get 56-59 FPS and my GPU temps hover around 72-73c with water cooling. The system is not overclocked. To me, this is still a vast improvement over my previous system which included a RTX 2080 8 Gig system. I would live a better 4k monitor than my present 4k Samsung and also an upgrade of my AMD CPU but given the pricing i cannot justify the purchases at the moment.
  13. Norbert do you have the Steam version? If so you need to check the Steam overlay is on and also have funds in your steam wallet to make a purchase.
  14. I must have missed the post about payware on the .To site..but as long as there is no confusion and it is separated i see no problem As for misunderstandings in posts I see this all the time...the internet is not like any normal conversation when you post. People cannot hear your tones, nor sense intent with any great degree of accuracy..cannot see your face to see if there is humour or anger in your eyes. It is a global access platform and people can even use translators to participate here .. all things considered, erring on the side of civility is the best response IMHO.
  15. Wow..out of the blue..Now this I am really looking forward to!!
  16. Thats all relative..tomorrow the 7th is 3 hours away for me.. it won't be released in NZ until 3am on the 8th
  17. Asobo only really broke the Sim with Su5. Before then some things less critical were busted and fixed quickly with hotfixes. And in saying that, i believe the changes made to Su5 are a better outcome for future development.
  18. Azure was ot working..from time to time a little dailogue box comes to advise that online ATC will default to built in ATC...for whatever reason, (it has happened a couple of times to me recently).. i am assuming that the developers are working in fine tuning the files.
  19. I purchased this. Don't regret - fun flying low and fast around scenery - enjoying immensely as something a little different - try taking it through the valleys of Mountains - New Zealand Southern Alps spring to mind!! Yes, the texture could do with a little update - but honestly, not really bothered because of the fun factor - and speed brakes are must for landing - she comes in too fast otherwise.
  20. Just like to throw a bone to the freeware mod people doing the A320NX. Yeah it is not payware..but heck it is. wonderful work and pretty much all i fly at the moment..(i have exactly 3 payware aircraft..the PMDG DC6 being one of them and enjoyable, a carenado twin.. not bad, but not as real as it gets and asobo light for site seeing....i am waiting for the PMDG 737 and qualitywings 787. I imagine SU5 caused a pause with development teams as to the way it was pumped out without apparently full consultation with Developers..Aerosoft certainly were quick to spit the dummy by cancelling their upcoming traffic add on.(i understand a kiss and makeup may have occurred since)?. Due to the ongoing changes i imagine many developers are taking a cautious approach.. i know i would not want to constantly have to modify a released aircraft with each successive patch update.
  21. swiesma - The Undervolting is something new to me. I just might take a closer look at this.. Thanks for the link !!
