  1. People are complaining but then go pay the same price for a Carenado plane, which you also know won't be 100% perfect, so what is all the complaining about. A $40 Milviz plane is got to be better then a $30-40 Carenado plane anyday. This is not a knock on Carenado either I have several, they are what they are. And for the price I'm sure for the most part this one will be fine for most people.
  2. Since others have already answered your questions I will just add maybe look at it a different way. You may be able to turn up more eye candy in V5 with out having a big hit to performance. However I will caution you to monitor your Vram usage carefully. Use to much and it will let you know by a crash to desktop CTD.
  3. Hi Bob, I tried the flight last night on Ultra from EGNC to EGLC in the TBM and had no issues. I also wanted to point out loading up the same flight in medium I was observing 6.2 gigs of video ram in use. Again that's on Medium and it was much higher once I got to London City. Another observation was again at EGNC I was seeing system ram at 14.6gigs. So your really maxing out your system even on medium settings. While video cards are a nightmare to acquire due to cost and availability, adding another 16 Gigs of ram to your system may be something to consider and easy to perform. Just an FYI if you have ORBX... Something else I noticed was the scenery around London was a mess (very flat and double buildings) with the latest update and having ORBX. However they have already posted they are working on an update for there scenery in the area. Should be out in about a week.
  4. I did a quick flight last night and I do not believe this was changed. The cars still have the hesitation were all familiar with. I will say however the traffic does NOT have the same impact on FPS as it did in the past. With V5 you can have lots more traffic without impact. I will also say that once you are 1000' AGL the traffic seems much smoother then when sitting next to them on the ground.
  5. No I don't, it was years ago. But it does make since, as an example if the traffic is updating 3 times per second vs 60 times per second this leaves more processing power for other tasks. Which was clearly needed in V1-4 as there was a large impact on performance with high traffic levels. Due to this I usually only set car traffic around 15-20%. In v5 I can set 30-40% with virtually no impact. Or if you want it to look like Portland (or any major US city on the west coast) in real life, you max it out to 100%.
  6. I can pretty much guarantee that was the problem. 6 gigs of Vram like it or not is just not enough for higher graphic settings. You will likely notice less pauses as you enter a dense scenery area as an added benefit. If you still have any issues lower your terrain loading distance down one notch and that should take care of it. Your watching the v ram usage so you will be able to fine tune to your liking. Enjoy your flight!
  7. Well congrats on the new system. You mentioned 16 Gig dual channel that would be system ram, I was curious about your video card ram amount. MSFS similar to P3D V5 likes a lot of video ram. Something to try would be lower your settings to medium and try the same flight, if it works you may be running out of video ram with previous settings. Just for fun I will try the same flight later and report back to see if I can get a CTD.
  8. Hmmm. Well sounds like system is stable then. How much video ram do you have? Any other recent changes, system overclock?
  9. Thats a bummer, Do you fly other sims? If so are they giving you any issues?
  10. This is great news indeed! I was hoping this would get looked into in a future update.
  11. Have people reporting crashes in here previously had any crashes? I ask because I have NEVER had a single crash with MSFS. I keep reading posts where people are complaining about crashes, however I only have about 75 hours so maybe I don't have enough time in the sim yet. I will keep my fingers crossed.
  12. That I'm not sure about, I will have to load up a flight and verify.
  13. I remember reading a while back that the traffic is like that due to the refresh rate update of the traffic, it was coded this way to reduce CPU calls, thus improving performance. (This has nothing to do with your monitor refresh rate) I can also confirm V5 traffic has far less impact on performance.
  14. I have V3, V4 and V5 all on different hard drives. No problems at all. The reason I have them all installed is different scenery's. I use Megascenery on V3 along with some old aircraft that don't work on the newer sims. V4 I use all ORBX regions along with everything else. V5 I use ORBX True Earth, so West coast only.
  15. My first guess is it is pausing to load in scenery. You have a nice system but having a high LOD area with lots of detail can cause those issues. IF you drop your terrain distance and autogen down does the problem for the most part go away? If so then your system is unable to process/load scenery quick enough to stay smooth. But yes there could be several factors causing the issue.
  16. Well hopefully later this year we will have the Quality Wings 787.
  17. Ouch... yeah lets hope not, I still very much enjoy P3d. Once they work out the weather and lighting issue's hopefully next release we will have an amazing looking sim.
  18. I was really hoping V5.2 with improved lighting and weather updates.
  19. I can only speak from my experience but two things that caused issues for me was the older version of trueglass (if your plane uses it), new version came out last month I think, and the other high graphic settings. For V5 8gigs of video ram gets used up quick. Hit Shift Z and see what your Vram usage is. For the sake of argument lower your settings (loading distance, texture size) and see if it fixes your problem. Since upgrading to 24gigs of Vram I have had ZERO crashes. Not a cheap solution I know but it proves where the problem was for me anyway. Hopefully with the next update will come some Vram optimizations for example selecting an option in the menu if you have 8 gigs of Vram or less, something I have seen in a few other games.
  20. Thanks, It's a great system and I really enjoy it. As for the monitor I couldn't recommend it more. Having the extra width really helps with the immersion factor. I'm waiting for a larger display in the 40-42" range w/HDR but might be a few more years. I would say its perfect for flightsims but really its great for all gaming I do.
  21. LMAO, yep Pilot Emile would love to have this plane in the sim. I'm sure if majestic had something ready she would be more then happy to give it a try.
  22. This is only a few miles from my house. Lol. I will have to download this tonight. I currently use the orbx version in Prepar3d.
  23. I'm glad you added that last part, cause I have never seen a nice boat be pulled by an old beater truck... LOL. My wife wanted to go spend the night at the beach. I said I'm tired of paying $200 a night on the Oregon coast, an hour drive from me. So I went and bought a new $40k F-150 and a new $25k travel trailer. I'm not sure the math worked out on that one, but hey now we go camping all over the place. Late last summer we did the red woods. Highly recommend if you haven't seen them yet.
  24. Start out in Valdez with the King Air or your other choice then head out thru the canyon of mountains (You will see what I mean) follow it West/Southwest until you get to a small opening in the mountains to your right near Whittier then follow that canyon of mountains all the way to Anchorage, ANC will be the first thing in town you see. I am from Anchorage originally and have been to Valdez and can tell you ORBX did a good job on the beauty of the area. Enjoy the flight!
