This is quite right, if you divide the price to the countless hours if enjoyment we get out of it, it's a very good deal.

Are OOM's the Final "Death Knell" of FSX?
masaki replied to Kilo60's topic in Crash To Desktop (CTD) Forum
I agree with the dx10 preview and fixer, it reduces VAS. I was not able to fly into fsdt cyvr and orbx pnw with the Pmdg 777, now the vas does not go over 3gb in the same situation with same settings.. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk -
PMDG should take the lead in upgrading Microsoft Flight Simulator
masaki replied to GeorgeFountain's topic in PMDG 777
I read somewhere than Alan Mulally is leaving Ford in 2014, possible candidate for MS CEO. -
I used to get oom with the NGX at CYVR. I re-installed the airport with 1024K bitmap size, also reduced the REX clouds to 512K. Never had an issue since. I did not test the 777 yet.. Stefan

Another thing, use 1024k clouds, reduce some clod coverage etc. anything can help. Personally i think lower res clods look better anyway. Hi-res plane textures don't make much sense as we sit in the cockpit. Like anything that has to do with computers it's about compromising. unfortunately we have the fsx 32 bit addressable memory hard limit, we have to play within it. Thats a hard stop. We really cant blame developers if we chose to fly pmdg ngx with hi res cloud textures, orbx scenery and an addon like cyvr.

For those with oom errors, what helped in my case was to uncheck the "force 4096x4096 bitmaps" or similar wording in thr virtuali addon manager. Good luck

Do you think it's worth upgrading from a GTX460?...Thx.Stefan

Damian,So will I be able to apply a theme and use it all the time, regardless of plan of weather? That's how I use REX and ASE right now. Many Thanks -
I hope they do well, they really deserve it. I would have paid double for the NGX without blinking :)

Gentlemen,Those of you who bought Shade probably know how it works, at startup it inserts the modified sky textures in /textures folder while preserving the original ones by creating a temp directory in /textures. I found out that, probably my fault somehow not waiting for shade to cleanup on exit that I lost the original files. I did not like how Shade made the NGX cockpit look too dark so I decided not to use it. Not seing any improvement, I checked the timesamp on the files, all 140 sky*.bmp had an oct 2011 date and no backup to be found.. So i had to install fsx on a VM just to get the original textures back..The moral of the story, make sure you backup the files yourself..Stefan Ticusan

Is this preformance normal with an i7 2600K?
masaki replied to AAfan's topic in PMDG 737NGX | 737NGXu
It's the water, can you try with 1x effects? It had a major effect for me in Tampa FL. Stefan Ticusan -
100% correct, this is documented and personally tested with server products. Stefan Ticusan

Thank you!

That's right, looks like HIGHMEMFIX=1 missing from fsx.cfg

That's funny. I explained the flightsim thing to a coworker of mine, he could not get it, found it boring to just wait there for a few hours a flight takes etc. Until he tried it, now he's hooked up; got two monitors, flight controls, ORBX scenery, the whole nine yards :) Stefan Ticusan

Thank you all gentlemen for the replies. So it does seem touch and go is more of a "practice" routine rather than a normal procedure. I'm also curious once I'm airborne, will the FMS recognize the new state I'm in and calculate speeds, attitude via flight director etc.You have probably seen this video: The long version is on flightlevel350
-
Thanks Matheus, I'll try this. Just wondering though, landing with no autobrakes set will give me a warning on EAD, so that's something that airlines won't do; so how do they manage this situation in real life..
-
Hi allI was practicing yesterday the go-around procedure on the MD11 and it seems straight forward, TOGA, flaps 28, gear up at positive climb, the FMC calculates the climb speed etc..However, I can't get to do a touch'n go. After touchdown and spoiler deployment, the aircraft wants to full stop regardless of me pushing the throttles, this being with AP disconnect but AT on.Is the procedure described somewhere?Stefan Ticusan
