I seem to have fixed my problem by disabling Accufeel. I haven't used FSX for months and had forgotten it was there.

Having the same trouble. I don't have fsuipc installed, not the registered version anyway and my controller is mapped through FSX. It's only the 777 doing this, all my other acft still operate as normal. EDIT: My engines automagically restart without any intervention. The op says that he has to restart his.

Sorry I went on a bit of a rant... It's just that this bad ATi driver thing gets to me. Yes they had some problems with the 9800 series but that was many years ago now. Good explanation. I'm not sure why some people are getting upset about this. Any longterm simmer would know all about Microsofts upgrades and at $100 pop mind you. That was a lot of cash 20-30 years ago. Also the MS upgrades became predictable, the even releases were a major upgrade while the odd releases were just to add some eye candy/new aircraft. I think LM are being more than fair here, not to mention upfront about it all. It's refreshing.

I'm using a 7970 and I'm wondering about the horrible driver support. What do you mean by support? They come out with monthly updates! No driver issues here whatsoever so the 7870 will be a sound choice as it's GCN too. In fact I've been running ATi cards since Nvidia failed to support SLI with Vista and 8800GTX. In all that time (7 years) I have never encountered one problem that could be attributed to drivers. I keep hearing about these bad drivers but have never seen one. ^_^

Guys I've had this problem before and I did manage to fix it. You won't believe it but it's popped up with me again and for the life of me I can't remember the fix.I do know the cause though and it's fsx.cfg, I'm currently googling to see if I can find somewhere where I explained what to do.Anyway if you do a full reinstall take a copy of fsx.cfg and take note of the entries {PrimaryDevice} and directly underneat {VoiceDevice} because when you lose ATC these values get changed and you need to restore the original.I just can't remember what the values need to be.If someone has a clean install of fsx can they please post those values here, because that will fisx it.

If you used the SM3 mod you will have no slowdowns in clouds at all.My single 5870 rivals any 470/480 framerates I have seen. Granted without the SM3 mod it does slow down in heavy cloud but 30 seconds work fixes that.Bufferpools=0 also works well and the sheer number of stream processors ensures it won't crash.Any other games ATi well and truly beats Nvidia. The 5970 makes the 480 look silly. For the same price.

Yep the post above that said you need an nvidia card for this is wrong. Analglyph 3D will work with any card.You only need nvidia for their proprietry shutter glasses.

Yup.When I was running 2 4870's a while back Crossfire worked for me once I had SP1 installed.Not the performance increase I saw with my Voodoo cards and probably FS3 or 4 back in the day when SLI first hit the scene. :( Now I'm reminiscing... :(

Hi I have recently discovered a sound problem. I have no idea what has caused it as I have recently been on an add-on purchasing frenzy.What happens is if I use the inbuilt ATC as soon as either I or a virtual aircraft accesses the ATC (i.e any message) my sounds drop to an almost inaudible level. They don't disappear completely, however it is very annoying. The only way I can restore the sound back to it's original level is to access the ATC menu. I use the ~ (tilde) key for that, then get back out of the menu using the ~ key again, then press Q to turn off all sounds, press Q again to turn the sounds back on and it works normally again (until a virtual aircraft makes an ATC request) If I fly without accessing the ATC menu at all then I have no problem.As you can imagine this is a real pain.I'm wondering if it isn't in the FSX.cfg folder then what will happen if I try reinstalling SP1 and SP2 or going the whole hog and using my original FSX disc and do a repair. Not a bad test and the 5870 had no glitches whatsoever.OTOH yesterday it was constantly stuttering with CS B763 over water.BTW addons are REX2, My Traffic 2010, FTX AU Blue and CS B763.EDIT: Catalyst 10.4 finalMy sound is dropping to around 10% of its normal level but I'm sure that's another issue altogether.

So what you are saying is that FSX won't use any more than 4 cores?

15 or 16 was the same for me. It would only run on 4 cores.
