  1. Perhaps I could have been clearer in my above post. I really meant the Australian equivalent to the FAA and NTSB...
  2. I that this issue would be swept under the rug frankly. I've heard stories in the news (a cracked windshield on an AWE A320 and the captain of an ASA 737 becoming incapacitated) that I can't find reports on. I think this is one of those sweep-it-under-the-rug moments.
  3. The Virgin had to go around twice and was beginning to run low on fuel. Unlike FSX, pilots do not have the option of choosing 'unlimited fuel'. Also declaring an emergency because you are running low on fuel is a good thing. Remember the Avianca 707 crash in New York? I'm not sure about the ILS capabilities that Victoria has. CAT IIIB requires a decision height of 50 feet and a RVR of 146 feet (50 meters). CAT IIIC is not authorized anywhere in the world. If you cannot see the ground, approach lighting or runway at the decision height on an CA II/IIIA/IIIB, you go around. You don't land.
  4. Try using the PMDG Options - Failures - All Systems - Maintenance - Service All or Clear All menu. That may fix it.
  5. He lost that campaign. He ran more than 3 years ago.
  6. If the FMS is indicating that you have an insufficient amount of fuel on board, you are dipping into your reserve fuel. Increase the amount of fuel on board.
  7. Submit a ticket via: support.precisionmanuals.com.
  8. If you still have the installer, you just have to run the installer on the new computer and activate the software. If you do not have the installer, you need to purchase the extended download service available at http://www.precisionmanuals.com/ProductCart/pc/viewPrd.asp?idproduct=84&idcategory=10 for $4.95. The purchase will show up in your purchase history. Then you need to register a new account at support.precisionmanuals.com to submit a ticket for a new download. PMDG will look at your purchase history and will send you a new download link.
  9. FMS MENU - FS ACTIONS - PAYLOAD. You can manually enter the number of passengers, weight of cargo, select either a full load or random load, or enter a load percentage.
  10. The base package will be the 747-400. The 747-8 will be an expansion pack I believe. I also recall PMDG may include the freighter versions of those aircraft.
  11. Purchase the Extended Download Service for the 800/900 (for $4.95) via: http://www.precisionmanuals.com/ProductCart/pc/viewPrd.asp?idproduct=84&idcategory=10. Then submit a ticket to the support desk via: http://support.precisionmanuals.com/Main/Default.aspx. You do need to register an account at the support desk as the PMDG eCommerce store and the support desk are different.
  12. You need to set a keyboard command via the Addons - PMDG - Keyboard Commands menu. That will open the door.
  13. You need to program the flight plan into the FMS. Follow the tutorial for step-by-step instructions. The selector below the FULL/MAP button needs to be selected to LNAV for the aircraft to follow the route in the FMS>
  14. Shouldn't you be driving rather than browsing AVSIM?
  15. That livery is starting to grow on me little by little...
  16. Depends on what's installed in the aircraft. There are birds that require the crew to turn off the center fuel pumps when the message "FUEL LOW CENTER" EICAS message is displayed. Some may automatically shut off. Not automatically. If there is more than 10,500 pounds of fuel in the center tank, the crew is to turn on the fuel pumps. If there is less than 10,500 pounds, the fuel pumps are turned on above 10,000 feet. In some other birds, the fuel pumps are turned on if there is fuel in the tank. If the message "FUEL IN CENTER" message appears, the fuel pumps are to be turned on.
  17. If the APU is available, start the APU. When you start the APU, you have a second source of electrical power. You can continue on to your destination. If it is not available, then you divert. You only have one source of electrical power.
  18. I think it was designed that way by PMDG. The real NG does not automatically change the switch position.
  19. I wasn't being sarcastic. I explained the procedure to remove the start locks and told him that using the unfeather switch would reengage the start locks.
  20. Pull the power levers back until you hear "START LOCKS REMOVED". Then push the power levers back up to idle. The unfeather switch will put the props back onto the start locks.
  21. I think the HIGHMEMFIX=1 tweak in the fsx.cfg file fixes that. I don't get it...
  22. The system synoptic pages can be dispayed on either the left inboard, right inboard, lower center display units if the MFD selectors are in the MFD or EICAS positions. In other words, yes. If the systems programming the MD-11, J41, 737, and 747 has, I think the PMDG 777 is going to be more than 90% like the real bird. The time could be between today and the year 9999. They will give us more information when they feel that it is appropriate. I think we're in for a pretty good treat.
