  1. Ryan, Go spend time with your family. Go have a BBQ. Go fly. The thing isn't in beta yet. It's going to be at leat 3 months to a year.
  2. You can enter a flex temp on a short runway if it will not affect the stopping distance in the event of a rejected takeoff. I'm pretty sure that airlines will not allow derated takeoffs only if the runway is wet/contaminated or the aircraft does not have the greatest performance (heavy takeoff weight). You can download an Exel worksheet that will provide flex temps for the GE MD-11 here: http://library.avsim.net/search.php?SearchTerm=pmdg+md-11+ge+flex&CatID=root&Go=Search Or you can download TOPCAT here: http://flightsimsoft.com/ It is oayware but it will calculate flex temps, takeoff speeds, weather reports and other performance related numbers required for takeoff and landing.
  3. That airport has not been opened for almost 15 years. I don't think there is any navdata for it.
  4. No. The landing gear, ailerons, flaps, slats, elevator, and rudder are not going to be modeled (sp?). But the MD-11, 737, 747, and J41 (I think) all have moving horizontal stabilizers. So my guess is yes.
  5. What happens when the 777 takes more than 6 months? People will act like kids throwing a tantrum because PMDG failed to give them the 777 they felt entitled to. Personally, I like the way they do things. It would save me the heart attack (and having to replace the F5 button) while I'm anxiously counting down the days.
  6. Gas is about $3.40 in Phoenix at the moment. I filled up at my grocery store for about $2.80 a gallon. Go buy food at a store that sells gas at a discount.
  7. Competition wise, I think that Boeing would be butt-hurt with PMDG if they go talk to Airbus. But. I don't see any problems with Bombardier or Embraer since they really don't/can't compete with aircraft such as A's and B's bigger aircraft (bigger than the 737/A320 family).
  8. I believe you are looking for is "apples and oranges".
  9. 22 in September. I don't drink so the ice cream sounds good. Oohhh, business opportunity! I've seen electric biils in the $500+ range. That was surprising. I would hate to see a sub-zero bar's bill during the summer. Though I think the demand for sub-zero temperatures and ballpark-expensive booze would ease the pain.
  10. Not in my area. Phoenix has two seasons... hot and very hot. That's just inhumane!
  11. If I paid $165 mil, I wouldn't want a model 777. I'd want the real thing. Though I don't think Phoenix would let me park my bird on my street...
  12. I think the 77L/77F is going to be released early Q4 to late Q1 2014. The 744/74Y (if they develop the freighter), I think, would be early Q3 to late Q4 2015. I could be wrong though.
  13. I think you can use the landing gear inhibit switch on the GPWS panel. But that config alarm is telling you to lower the gear (which you should do). It will only work if the flaps are not in the landing configuration (lower than flaps 15 if I remember correctly). I think you're talking about the takeoff confiuration warning system.
  14. I'm starting to itch for the 777F and the 744F. That is going to be fun.
  15. One request that I would second.
  16. No. The 77L is going to have the default Cessna flight deck with the default Trike soundset and the Bell helicopter flight model..
  17. If you press the AUTOFLIGHT button before takeoff, you will arm the autothrust system. Push the thrust levers forward above 65% N1 and the ATS will set takeoff thrust. Airspeed is not controlled by the ATS on the ground. The ATS will only set takeoff thrust during the roll. You either haven't set takeoff thrust or you are taking off on a small runway.
  18. I haven't flow the J41 or read the manual in a while but that sounds like the normal procedure.
  19. I don't think the batteries will power the avionics on the ground. You need to connect the ground power unit or start an/both engine/engines. You can perform a battery start but it takes more power to start the engine.
  20. How are you going to control the AUX tank, fill it, empty it, or keep track of the amount of fuel? I would wait until the BBJ is released (if it is).
  21. I would submit a ticket to PMDG Support (support.precisionmanuals.com). I think what you are describing is an activation issue.
  22. What weather app are you using?

    PFD Clock

There is a clock on the ND in the MD-11. The controls for it are on a panel below the captain's and first officer's sliding windows (switches between a stopwatch and a timer) and also in the CDU (controls the amount of time for the timer function). The clock starts when she starts flying and stops after landing (20 seconds I think). So it's possible.
  24. I have never heard of a 4800 NM flight with the 738. I think the longest I've seen is around 3000 NM. I think speeding up the time may have affected the fuel system. I cannot see a standard two-class cabin 738 flying 4800 NM.
