  1. If the livery is from the PMDG website, you just download the livery installer, and run the installer just like any other program. If the livery is from a third person (downloaded from sites such as the AVSIM library), instructions may be included to assist in manually installing rhe livery. That's because the livery manager only works for the NGX and no other product.
  2. I think that is releasing the gyro on the standby attitude indicator (if you have the standby instruments installed (not the digital standby instrument) on the center instrument panel. The oxygen mask is next to the captain's left knee. The container says "EROS". Press the test button to the left of the oxygen hose. You should hear a momentary flow of oxygen accompanied by a yellow X in the upper left corner. Now press the EMERGENCY/TEST button right below the oxygen hose and then press and hold the test button. You should hear a continuous sound of oxygen.
  3. I've heard that the wait time could be up to 24-48 hours around holidays and a few hours-24 hours the rest of the time.
  4. The radio altitude will display next to the attitude indicator (bottom right corner). The decision height can be adjusted by using the DH knob on the glareshield panel. Refer to page 30 in the Pilot Introduction PDF.
  5. ATC clearances take precedent over altitudes, speeds, and headings on SID/enroute/STAR/approach charts and flight plants.(Of course you can work with ATC if your aircraft can't comply with the clearance)
  6. I don't think I have ever seen that in FSX.
  7. I believe it will show up on the PFD (attitude indicator or whatever BAe calls it) when the aircraft is below 2500 feet.
  8. http://forum.avsim.net/topic/361760-secret-project-1-this-one-is-a-classic/ He talks about the general development cycle and the DC-6.
  9. Click the right LSK next to a waypoint after the T/C. Go to VERT REF page 2/2. Enter the ALT/DIR/SPD of the wind. You can enter up to 4 altitudes per cruise waypoint. As for a time that you can do that, I'm not sure. Believe it or not, I don't think the wind page is even in the systems manual.
  10. Are you saving the settings in the load manager by clicking "Save to File" or sending the settings directly to FSX by clicking "Send to FSX"? The options for "Single" (seating is completely economy, I think JAL used this when they operated the -400D on Japanese domestic routes), "Dual" (usiness and economy, such as DAL), and Tri (First, Business, and economy, such as UAL) are just passenger seating. I don't think either three have an effect on fuel.
  11. I think that was scheduled after the 777 was released.
  12. The gates are not in the airport file. You can add the gate number and coordinates via the airport navigraph file (located in your PMDG/SIDSTARS folder).
  13. It was their worst selling product. I guess history repeats itself.
  14. Duplicate thread. Just click the post button once.
  15. Use the fuel option in the Addons-PMDG menu or the PMDG 747 load manager. If you use the default FSX load manager, you could cause problems with the 744.
  16. Pitot heat is automatically controlled by the miscellaneous system controller (MSC) if there is electricity being supplied to the aircraft. The anti-ice system for the air data system is turned on when any engine fuel switch is on. The system is turned off if all three engine fuel switches are off. The system will be activated only inflight
  17. Holy crud. It only took someone 23 posts to post something negative about the 787. Do I have to learn Russian to fly the Il-86?
  18. I cannot remember the last update that I made on Facebook. I never really saw the reason Twitter is even there, other than to destroy the English language.
  19. I think that's one of the ram doors for the air condtioning/pressurization system. They should be closed inflight.
  20. You got a chuckle out of me. Congratulations
  21. That's because the 744 does not have the range to fly nonstop SYD-DFW. That route is operated by the 747-400ER. The -ER has an auxillary tank that allows additional range that the base 744 does not have. I would conduct a fuel stop in Honolulu or LAX. I remember there is a thread somewhere around here that changes some figures in the .cfg file that allows additional fuel to be carried but I think that created problems with the fuel system. I would wait until the 747V2 comes out and maybe there will be an -ER version.
  22. I'm not sure that the fire doomed the MD-11. Sabena received the last MD-11 passenger version built in April 1998 after Boeing announced they were ending the passenger production line. I don't think the checklist was really a problem, except that it didn't inform the crew to land as soon as possible. I think it was more the crew was slow to diagnose the source of the smoke and made a few bad decisions.
  23. I think the NGX was cheaper by $10-$20 when she was released. Other than that, I don't PMDG has ever had a discount.
