  1. That's one facet. ASN does not factor into the planning of PFPX as far as I know. Yes, you can get a separate printout from ASN, but it doesn't affect how PFPX plans for winds aloft, nor departure/arrival RWs + SIDS/STARS. Besides, let me clear this up for you by reiterating things, but bolding key points: I'm lazy. I don't want to add another step to my flight planning. I don't want to have to refer to a website. I want it all automatically, in one program. I input, it outputs. Simple. I like that. ^_^
  2. Taxi2Gate's LTBA has gates that are incorrectly scaled. Can't fit a 77W in there, even if you should be able to based on RW info. The gates are too short and the aircraft overhangs past the marked line indicating the start of the taxiway. Wing clearance is an issue for aircraft taxiing past. Another major offender is Aerosoft's EDDP. What a messy AFCAD. Wish I could've returned it. Horrid.
  3. I don't think it's a situation of "early bird gets the worm". I feel like a lot of the times simmers assume that there's space in the market for only one addon for a particular aircraft type/airport. Look at ImagineSim's KIAD, and then afterward, Flightbeam's KIAD. Flightbeams was a better quality product, and therefore sold far, far better than ImagineSim's did. There are going to be multiple 757s, whenever Level-D get theirs out the door (should they ever). A niche market like flight simulation will always value quality above all, and should a better 777, 738 or 748 come out from PMDG onto the XPX platform, I'd expect it to sell well. Don't forget that PMDG will be bringing a whole new kind of customer to the X-Plane platform. The holdouts. The PMDG diehards. They're coming to XPX same as the PMDG product does, but only with said product. Even if they rehash the 777, I'm sure it'll sell well.
  4. Yes, obviously you can do it all manually, however, it negates the point of having PFPX in the first place. I bought it so I could have an easy-to-use, comprehensive, and automatic flight planner, so I don't have to spend a few hours trying to find the optimal route (and this can be a problem when flying in lesser covered areas such as Asia). That's why I advocate having the server subscription.
  5. Operating CX838 to Vancouver. We're currently rocketing across the east coast of Japan. Current flight status here: https://vatstats.net/flights/1327082 -- -- Will upload arrival upon touchdown in Vancouver. Just 9 or so hours left to go
  6. I haven't been able to contribute to the screenshot forums in a while, and as it's my favorite thing to do on Avsim, I think it's time we rectify that! :-D Here are some random 77W shots that I've taken over the last month. Enjoy! -- Yep, it's been a Turkish sorta month
  7. The server subscription gives you access to things such as Winds and Tracks. If you're someone who depends on PFPX to pick your departure Runway and procedure, then I'd go ahead and say it's worth the server subscription, as if the program has no clue what the winds at the airport are like, it can't help you very much with an accurate and suitable departure Runway. This also applies to cruise winds, as it helps PFPX build a more accurate fuel burn figure, and is therefore moderately important. Besides the WX applications, PFPX also uses the server subscription to update your Tracks on a daily basis, therefore if you're someone who uses PFPX to plan for NATS, PACOTS, AUSOTS, and other various tracks, you should probably have access to the server for the most up-to-date information.
  8. It is. Just under a different suffix, as usual. They've gone from .com to .si to .pe to what is now the new one.
  9. Is this an FSX only PC? I'd recommend getting another 1TB internal data drive, just for media and stuff like that. 500GB is a little less than ideal for a computer meant to be your "everything computer". Even better, buy a little SSD to run the OS off, then buy an SSD for FSX, and then have a separate data drive with which you can have your movies/music/whatever.
  10. Really? From the addons I've used, ALL require an activation serial, some even through weird methods such as third party managers, inserting the serial into a web page along with an email to obtain yet ANOTHER serial with which the product is activated, and such. I think it's slightly ignorant to assume that the devs aren't doing their best to counter piracy. There's only so much a team of 6, 7, or 8 people can do. Imagine Microsoft with their Windows 8 and hundreds of people working on it. It was cracked and uploaded to The Pirate Bay in a matter of hours.
  11. Here's the nasty thing, The Pirate Bay came back up in less than a few hours. It's business as usual right now, just with a different suffix at the end of the web link. They hop around the world, so instead of .com they use things such as .si or some other such obscure suffix.
  12. Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand it's back up. sigh Oh well. Onward, I guess. The battle continues!
  13. You're reading a little too far into it. Take into consideration that every single magnet link that was up at ThePirateBay has been archived and reuploaded on various other torrent sites, meaning that none of the torrents are really "down", they remain accessible for anyone willing to sift through ~1.5 million magnet links, or, when it finds a new home, the "new" piratebay. The total size of the file containing all the magnet links? ~90mb. So, it's not like it's going to take a lot of effort/time to bring back up either. Crappy, but true, I don't think thepiratebay is going anywhere anytime soon.
  14. Same question people ask me about my car. My answer is always the same: Too much, but worth every penny.
  15. Getting the nomnoms on board for the haul out to JFK!
  16. I used AES for the Heathrow and GSX for RJAA. Thank you!
  17. Hey all, My second attempt at the insane 11+ hour flight from Heathrow to Tokyo-Narita, over VATSIM. All of this was in real time, and I had VATSIM Supervisors check in twice during the flight! (Luckily enough, not during one of my "executive rest periods" i.e Nap Nap Time! ) The first time I tried, I fell asleep right after entering Japanese airspace.. So frustrating! -- Speedbird 5 prepping for her voyage, filling up on food for the airplane and the PAX. -- SID and RW is in, arriving EZY aircraft wished me good luck on my trip over UNICOM, what a lovely chap. Loving the reflections on the glass @ Aerosoft/SimWing's Heathrow.. -- Takeoff and banking right on a typical dreary, cloudy, British morning. -- Fast forward 10 hours, here we are planning the approach into Narita. We'll be using the CVCSA STAR into ILS34L. The furthest ring is our DME arc from the NRE VOR, we'll be making our turn along this arc. The next ring in is our gear down marker. The folks at Narita want the gear down 12NM from the IYQ VOR to prevent ice-blocks falling into populated areas. The last ring in is 4NM from IYQ, which is our Landing Flap extension point. Again, Narita wants a delayed flap extension schedule, so we'll be nice and comply ;-) -- A random shot before making the arcing turn. -- Just before we bring down the gear @ 12NM from IYQ. -- Holding 169 knots, just before we bring out landing flaps at 159 knots @ 4nm from IYQ. A/P Disconnected, the big bird is mine after almost 11 hours! -- Slowed to VRef as we bring out landing flap 25. -- 11 hours and 5 minutes on the clock. Speedbird 5 has landed! Jobs not done yet though, Narita has a BUNCH of complex intersections. *sigh* -- Rampie got this picture of 'er after we docked up. Lovely! -- This brings an end to our pseudo trip report! I hope you fellas enjoyed it.. ;-) Sorry for uploading to Flickr, Imgur refused to let me upload, no idea why.

    Come on!

    I believe this has something to do with Windows 9 being incorrectly interpreted as Windows 95/98. A lot of programs use the code: if(version.StartsWith("Windows 9")) { /* 95 and 98 */ } else {
  19. I actually had 3 alternates but didn't list them all.. Thank you for reading :-)
  20. Not sure, I'll get back to you on that one! Thanks, great liveries! ;-) Thank you :-)
