About Me

  • About Me
Been Flight Simming since I first owned a computer back in the 80's. Spend most of time in the tubeliners...the PMDG MD-11, iFly 737, and PMDG 777. The CS 727 when I need the challenge.
  1. I think one this game has to contribute is performance and simplicity of use. I cannot tell you how many hours and hundreds of dollars I have spent on this hobby to get it to where I wanted it to be for me. Steams understanding of and ability to incorporate and consolidate add-ons and to reduce or eliminate various conflicts, etc., is worth its weight in gold. A couple of days ago I was flying over Orbx scenery on "Ultra settings" and getting acceptable and smooth frame rates for me. I understand that many people are heavily invested, both figuratively and literally, in this genre. I understand. So am I. But there are definitely benefits to the 64-bit platform and the ease of use. I say let these guys go for it! If they can produce a better, easier to use product then kudos for them. Perhaps more people will enter the hobby. If not, then we will happily go back to our respective platforms. But by all means, let us show each other respect. We all have spent many hours learning, enjoying and understanding the world of aviation. Anything that progresses that is a GOOD thing, and anyone attempting to contribute to it is our friend.
  2. Just took my first flight. I must say gang, this is looking VERY promising. Esp the flight dynamics and weather! I will look forward to further developments! Nice work!
  3. I climbed out of there in the PMDG 777 a couple of days ago with weather in the area. Very cool. And the new airport is wonderful!! Great work gang!
  4. Totally agree, I would purchase a PMDG model of both the 757 and 767.
  5. I got the CS757 version some time ago and tried to fly it. The flight dynamics seem wrong, but the FMC bugs were the killer for me. Not being used anymore. Waiting for someone to produce a good model.
  6. Not a controlled attempt at a landing. Icing? They had been holding for a long time. And if they were based in Dubai. Guess we will see.
  7. I had this when using Fiber Accelerator. Reduced the frame rates and it went away. So I think they are right. Lower frames or changing the Fiber frame faction would be where I would start.
  8. If you go into msconfig and have the system do a Selective Startup and have it start without the startup items loading. Helped a lot for me.
  9. Does it still crash after a clean boot? I had a similar problem after upgrading to Windows 7 64 bit and found that if I open it with a clean boot it works fine. Not sure about Windows 10. Also, kudos to the people who put together the Avsim CTD guide. Helpful ideas.
  10. I used these settings in FSX DX10. They work great for me too. A keeper for sure. Thanks!
  11. Dunno, but I just landed at Dulles with all AI traffic on and taxied to the gate w/o an OOM crash in the PMDG 777-200. Massive improvement with this patch. Wow!!!

  13. Agree on the stall. Dropped off on the left wing. Don't think that was intentional. Would have been better if he dumped the nose and went for the river. Still, remarkable and delighted that there were survivors.
