  1. I literally have had ZERO problems with WMR. It is the most stable part of my VR setup. It's simple and it works. Albeit, that is once I got my replacement Reverb. With my original bad Reverb I had nothing but screen and startup problems. Check your setup and hardware thoroughly, I found it very important. What popup are you getting exactly?
  2. This would be a great 3rd party addon for FS2020.
  3. I was just trying to search for any sneak peak footage or screenshots of what huge airports and their scenery look like but came up with nothing. I'm still searching but if anyone has links or knows of any large airports, do share. Thanks.
  4. After several hours trying out FSX with their 15 minute demo addon, I gave up on it but REALLY liked what they've done and were trying to do. I can see why they abandoned it. Which lead me to buying, trying and deciding to keep their other product, FFS (bad acronym). MANY features are missing compared to FSX, but besides the excellent VR, 2 things hooked me; the streaming full world scenery and great performance (it uses all cpu cores!!). Night time flying has great visuals too. Being able to fly anywhere and have lots of solid autogen with the true to life satellite scenery is definitely the future, *ahem* FS2020. You spawn in the world first, then in about <45 seconds on my internet, you see the autogen and scenery fully load in; so pretty quick loading of streamed data. Due to the dozens of things missing and lacking, I would only recommend FFS to those that plan to fly VFR; huge, busy airports are all ridiculously flat and empty. It's Early Access but for $37, I'll easily get 37 hours of enjoyment out of it until FS2020 hits (which I don't plan on buying until it has VR). Give it a go, VR heads. Being designed from the ground up for VR shows with smart, easy to use menus and UI. Per Steam, you can try the game for 2 hours and refund it if you don't think you'll get your moneys worth. BE WARNED, you'll use up 30-45 minutes of this time configuring and setting up the controls and options.
  5. After more testing, I'm not buying this for $30. If it was $10 sure but it is way too unstable and buggy with too many planes. The default planes work nonstop but 3rd party planes obviously are different somehow and cause random crashes when FlyInside is used. With regular 2D FSX, there are no crashes so it's definitely something related to FlyInside.
  6. Not sure this is the best place for this topic? Anyway, I'm trying the demo out and for the most part, this is impressive software but I've seen several glitches. Does anyone know ..... How to increase head tracking sensitivity? Switching views ends up making the screen go black. Have to restart the whole sim to fix. Ideas? How to capture an actual size screenshot of what is being drawn in the HMD? Steam F12 doesn't work, FSX's V and Mixed Reality Portal snapshot doesn't capture the true resolution. Use Accu-Feel? Even if it works, something tells me the jostling wouldn't be enjoyable? How to prevent the Undocked Windows from going transparent? Is this program still supported? Looking in the forums, it appears dead since they are trying to make a sim. FYI: using HP Reverb and I'm not use the WMR controllers (using gamepad atm)
  7. Has there been mention whether this new FS2020 will keep the vast majority of keyboard commands the exact same as FSX? It's taken me years to learn and remember them all, it would be nice if they simply 'transferred over' to this new sim. That is all, thank you.
  8. The problem is there is no best. If your mainly using it for flight sim'ing, I wouldn't want to go anything less than HP Reverb for reading and environment clarity.
  9. Nice, enjoy, it's great value for what you get! No sure why you bought 2 of them though?
  10. Lots of good ideas so far that are definitely needed. One I didn't see mentioned is 'some way' to control or emulate as many keyboard keys as possible with VR UI and VR controllers. It takes a ridiculous amount of key and key combinations to fly a complex plane, 'some how' we need to 'see' them and activate them on the fly. <no pun intended>
  11. Following up...the 2nd Reverb I received works perfectly fine and I've been enjoying it 100% problem free for nearly a month now. Few more quick notes... Eye glasses will and do scratch VR lens; I plan to buy prescription inserts. Most online reviewers are over critical; WMR controllers work great and perfectly fine 95% of the time. Lots of full games are actually kind of shallow and feel more like tech demos. Dirt Rally 1 isn't really TONS better in VR; you feel disconnected, like a floaty observer when driving. Xplane needs a >=2080 for VR if you want sim level gfx imo; my 1080Ti is too stuttery. Everyone better hope and pray FS2020 is the most optimized and designed for VR game ever created. Its a shame the 'perfect' VR hasn't been designed yet, every model has it pros and cons.
  12. My new cable arrived. I first tried my Reverb with the old cable. It worked for about 10 minutes then went black with USB not connected errors. Same thing happened with the new cable. I think this is a heat related issue; if my Reverb sits for a long time to totally cool down it will work for a little bit. Anyway, I called tech support back, stated the new cable behaved exactly the same, got transferred to sales, they are shipping me another new one and they have already emailed me a return shipping label for the original one. I do say the support is courteous, prompt and helpful but I made sure to tell both tech support and sales I'm not amused.
  13. It will be interesting to see how well VR sells this Christmas season. I can totally see average Joe consumer being totally confused and frustrated with the huge disparity amongst all the current VR offerings.
  14. Reading gauges and text are no longer an issue....at a cost of course but simmers and VR fanatics like to spend money so no worries. Source
  15. Well, after about 6 hours of test and play time, my Reverb is dead, Jim. I get continuous USB connection error codes. One interesting thing he had me try, which I didn't think of, was to use a USB 3 connection on my laptop while the display port remained connected to my desktop computer. Still no joy.<sad> FWIW, the tech stated the USB 3 connection is mainly there for powering the HMD. So tech support is sending me a cable first to try, if that doesn't work I'll need a new HMD assembly. I consider HP products normally pretty good but they certainly are having Reverb issues. Shame because when it works, it is excellent.
  16. I spent the weekend trying dozens of demos/games of all types with my new delivered HP Reverb. MY observations and views: Crazy, ridiculous 4 programs are needed to run 1 game. Things are somewhat glitchy but mostly work ok. Wires are kind of annoying; not sure weighted pack would be better? More design thought for glasses wearers is needed. The voice activated ‘flashlight’ feature is a god send. It’s what you think it is, VR is quirky 3D with head tracking and odd touching. The constant ‘looking through binoculars’ FOV is immersion detracting. Uncanny valley and overall obvious fake-ness is 10x worse in VR. A roller coaster game is the fastest way to get seriously nauseous. Control input implementations are often far from great. Any ‘cockpit’ game IS VR's bread and butter. Having room space is important. Visual form and function are good; VR won’t die off like earlier attempts. I'm uncomfortable knowing I look dorky times infinity while playing. Fun? Not yet, way too many quirks yet to overcome. Interesting? YES Recommend? Yes, if you have the means; experimenting, seeing, experiencing and trying is worth the price of admission.
  17. With the higher resolutions finally getting to where we simmers can actually see things, more are buying into VR (like myself, I ordered a Reverb yesterday). I thought it might be helpful for veterans to share some of their tips and suggestions to VR newbies. So what are your top 3 tips to learn, do, try, be aware of, don't do, etc. Thanks for any replies.
  18. So far, everything covered sounds absolutely awesome but..... No helicopters for now, will come later; fine. No tubeliners shown or mentioned at the event. Later also? Frame rates were good according to articles BUT no solid answer on AI, traffic(cars, boats, ship, etc) or ATC?!. We know how badly they affect our current sims. <sic> Subscription not decided on but I'd bet money this game will be. Poor or no internet connection; while somewhat explained they didn't go into detail on exactly how the experience is compromised?
  19. See poll. Note multiple choice. Edit: Added "Other" option. If you don't see your choice listed, please write a comment of your Other idea.
  20. Interesting. I've kept my eye on this and will continue to do so. Thanks for the update.
  21. I'm specifically looking for a list of improvements or enhancements this update may provide to FSX. You know, release notes pertaining to FSX. If anyone has a direct link, forum or otherwise, to this specific info I'd appreciate it, thank you.
  22. I'm assuming virtuali does not solely respond to one forum here.
  23. This latest update seems to be heavily Prepar3D biased. Is there any reason for FSX users to update? I've seen nothing interesting listed for FSX users.
  24. Yeah, beside a flight or racing sim, this is about the only other VR game I'd be interested in.
