  1. I understand the draw while inside the cockpit, but after takeoff, much of my time is spent in 3rd person view admiring the plane, clouds and scenery. Is VR any good in this situation?
  2. If you judge by price per performance, a desktop system will always win out. I'd only get a laptop if I traveled a bunch and wished to sim a bit on the road.
  3. I key is smoke toggle, doubt that's the issue but can't hurt to try with plane on and off.
  4. Nice but maybe a bit over saturated. Interesting all the windows are still there for cargo.
  5. Bit older of a thread but I also recently have this strange issue. The jetway wheels and frame are rotated some degrees. So no solution or cause, eh?
  6. Yup. DLG is my current RC flying passion. Sadly, shrinking places to fly from constant urban expansion and regulations prompted from the 'drone boom' make it difficult and inconvenient nowadays.
  7. I was a baby in the late 60's for my first flight. No clue what it was. Youngest flight I have memory of was landing into a stormy Reykjavik (BIRK) airport in Iceland. It was an Icelandic Air DC-6 in a really bad winter storm with blinding snow and therefore blind landings. We needed to deboard the plane. Holding my mom's hand, we went down the outside airstairs and walked through a blowing and drifting sideways blizzard. It was really a white out and I was dumbfounded we actually just landed in this crazy weather. Then off into the terminal we went. My mom always shopped for tax free purchases of wonderful wool and cashmere sweaters at BIRK. They'd refuel, I guess, or just pick up and leave off passengers. One time we were supposed to land at Luxembourg and got over the airport only to be notified that the airport terminal was on fire. We were instructed to fly to Brussels which we did. When we got there it was so fogged in they couldn't or didn't want to land there . We were then told to go back to Luxembourg and land there anyway, which we did. Then we took the train to Brussels. Horrendous exhaustion from that long travel.
  8. Yeah, this gets me too. Would love to see true, lab grade, frame rate comparisons of our flight sims.
  9. I was hoping it would be a medium featured tubeliner instead. I feel FSW really needs to show it will also be a full featured sim and not purely GA based.
  10. I own both AH and AH2. I find them klunky, unintuitive and high maintenance with little reward. AH2 is taking way too long to complete with things being added, changed and bug squashing all the time. AH2 is more of a business management sim, not flight sim enhancer. I get the feeling the OP would prefer something like FSPassenger or FSCaptain along with FSEconomy.
  11. It adds drama and pacing. The tension created is incredible. Edgar Allan Poe better look out.
  12. Does this fix the wrong tree types in certain regions in FSX? ex. no palm trees in Florida
  13. How do you tolerate the frame rate and low resolution(reading dials, text)? After using 4k's sharpness, I can't imagine anything less.
  14. Welcome. There are many discussions on the current flight sims out there if you do a bit of searching. If your FS9 is looking and running great, FSX would be sort of a sideways move IMO, especially if you didn't like the vaulted P3D. Far as Xplane11, try the demo then judge to see if the jump in investments would be worth it to you.
  15. When FSW gets a top line airliner or 2, that's when things will get interesting. Has the fat lady sung? Oh wait, is that fat shaming? <exits stage left>
  16. I don't know if I have any version, hence my question. I assume both the reg and non-reg versions will have a pull down area within FSX 'addon' menu?
  17. It is artistically very nice but too heavy on the artificial effects. Needs several other camera views in the mix also IMO.
  18. For the price you pay, at the very least, I certainly hope so. I'm surprised price did not weigh more heavily on your choice. Of course, you still have the return option yet, so your choice may not be final.
  19. ^^^Pretty much the topic. In a similar note, bonus 2nd question I have is what is the difference between simconnect and FSUIPC?
  20. I'm guessing he actually does but it certainly doesn't look like he has very good control turning all over the place. Doing a stunt like this I would think he should fly more steady, predictably and professionally; not all over the sky like he did.
  21. Maybe the first officer thinks you are hard of hearing.
  22. I'm finding that Windows10 updates definitely affect my FSX and gaming experience. It is the ONLY thing that changes often times.
  23. Looks like a decent build. The latest AMD thing is questionable indeed. I'm not sure anyone has run and compared FSX or P3D performance vs Intel. OP would be a frontier on that one. You could probably save some money with a 1070. At that res, I think only Xplane and AeroFly, push graphics cards hard enough to justify the best. My GTX970 still pushes FSX at 4k with ease. I'd also opt for a 4T HDD, 2T won't go far imo.
