  1. Indeed, why not Carenado? They do have some lovely textures which is mostly what people care about anyway...oh, and an 8k cabin too. Ever wondered why the likes of A2A or majestic are "late to the party"?
  2. Not too long ago I had a session on a cae 7000 xr simulator. Have to say the textures were not that great and it had no simulated cabin!! (imagine that!) Would have never passed the scrutiny of some of the folks here on the MSFS forum....
  3. That’s the point exactly. Msfs is so sandboxed that 3pd are prohibited from making it better.
  4. fenix/pmdg being serious developers opted to do nothing rather than offering a misrepresentation of what a Wx radar really is, just for the sake of putting some colorful bands on the ND. In practical terms, this kind of "radar" is not only useless but may be quite misleading as well.
  5. At this point it's nothing more than just a bunch of letters and some colorful squiggly lines. All the rest is mere speculation based on very little. Once it's out, I guess we'll see what it's really all about and how much it adds to or subtracts off the product.
  6. The proof of the pudding is in the eating. We’ll have to see how it improves on the flight dynamics only when it’s out. Hope this will actually be an improvement unlike the overcooked turbulence model that’s been recently introduced.
  7. My guess is, that's unlikely to happen. Some people will argue that the current system is almost perfect and better than anything we have seen thus far. As you have the background, you'll be a good judge of that.
  8. Read my post again! The issue is not just the visual representation - the problem is how planes actually behave. This is what's dead wrong! I'm sure the code you threw in there just bought you a seat of honor with each of those 3PDs struggling out there! Now can you also throw in a piece of code that will help those planes also FLY properly in that "turbulence" model...
  9. Well, I think you misunderstood. The sims problem is not the erratic DISPLAY.... it's the erratic response to the so-called turbulence. I'm sure now that you showed then, those 3PDs will know what to do to smooth out the nervous vector but that wasn't their major issue to begin with.
  10. That's a long winded post that's basically saying "The turbulence model is accurate, because I say so!". You need only to observe the wind vector on addons like PMDGs boeings or the fenix airbus or notice the seesaw yaw to realize that something is dead wrong. Ask those 3PDs - and they'll tell you the same!
  11. Admittedly, I'm no "senior fleet captain" , nor do I make 15 Mil.... I'm no zealot either who'd jump at the sight of any heretic trying to criticize their favorite toy. Pointing out the shortcomings of an addon or the platform isn't "stirring the pot", at least not in my book. Wouldn't hurt you listening and actually checking out some of that stuff from time to time. Who knows, perhaps even a "senior captain" could learn something new...
  12. The entire discussion is rather futile without knowing the TRUE conditions (which the screen flicker won't allow). Turbulent Bad Weather Landing - MD11 Cockpit View - YouTube here you can get a comparison between a good simulator on the top tight corner and a bad simulator that's flying on rails in the main frame.
  13. on the contrary. I don't understand how anyone who ever flown can deem the erratic seesaw behavior + the grossly exaggerated yaw as "realistic". probably the same ones who deemed the initial iteration of the fenix as spot on accurate.... or managed to put their foot in their mouth on numerous occasions...
  14. No, no xbox controllers. Actually I AM interested in making it move using the mouse but the only way I can move from , say, a European to as American airport is through a series of zoom out/in
  15. Not related, but I can't find a way to spin the globe other than zooming in and out. I vaguely remember being able to do that in the past but either something had changed or it's just me missing something (probably the latter)
  16. Isn’t that the same one who endorsed the initial iteration of the fenix to be “spot on” ? A claim that was rejected by… fenix themselves ( to their credit I have to add). sorry, copy-pasting someones opinions doesn’t cut it. One actually needs at least some basic understanding in what one’s talking about. Unless someone is more interested in cheerleading than actual simulation of course….
  17. Not sure Avsim library is indicative of anything. If one is to judge by that, then the sim world had revolved around AI repaints and the likes of Majestic or FSLabs stand together with the likes of abacus... It's been too long since Avsims library was a reflection of anything. If I am to follow your statement then there's little to no room for anything that's not Boeing or Airbus. I'd hate to believe that this is the case. I remember a popular Fokker 70/100 addon (was it for FS9 or x?) or even the dash-8 could be seen as a success story, although not as common. I don't think PMDGs DC should be considered a failure either nor the MD-82 from Leonardo. Sure, Boeings and busses will be popular but there's room for fokkers and Embraers as well - provided there's an outstanding simulation of one. Unlike ALL the "high end" addons released so far, however, those will need to be developed from scratch and that's a whole different ball game...
  18. Any high end rendition will be popular. Thing is, as someone said at the very beginning of this thread, that there is nothing to port over from other platforms, hence, it will be a long long time until a beast of this nature will appear in msfs, if one ever will.
  19. The market for nice external models bit very little of everything else.
  20. Strangely enough, this is also their undoing. Because this card structure is so elaborate, it doesn't take much for things to go wrong and when they do - its so very hard to fix or adjust simply because of the multitude of parameters, variables and computations going on. On top of that, many of them are sandboxed and can't be adjusted or tinkered with...
  21. They won't ! They cater for a different market
  22. While Aivlasoft does provide a set of data it's an older one. If one wants to keep the database up to date, there's no avoiding either navigraph or aerosoft for current AIRAC sets.
