Well, political surveys (which have quite a error margin) are usually based on 1500-2000 interviewed people. In light of what MSFS can achieve regarding sold copies yeah, even more of a small sample size 🙂

Just like LM is not developing P3D for us, Microsoft is developing MSFS for the huge market of the Game Pass for both PC first and consoles later on. To that, add the fact of how it's also helping promoting Azure AI and probably will do more regarding VR later on.

Yes that's true. But it's also developed by pretty much one person. And it's the only addon out there for majoy simulators (until MSFS is released) which actually gives volumetric clouds. Unlike say, HiFi for FSX/P3D which had years and years to try implementing such a thing. It's also the only addon out there implementing this shader based technique for seasons.

Orbx Releases TerraFlora for X-Plane
Pastaiolo replied to KBUR's topic in The X-Plane General Discussions Forum
Before saying ugly trees, i also said "3d trees". 🙂 Speedtree is an example and of all those i mentioned it is probably used only by DCS and P3D (partially). It's something they could have always done but as usual, it depends more on their priorities than anything else. There will be always hope.. -

Orbx Releases TerraFlora for X-Plane
Pastaiolo replied to KBUR's topic in The X-Plane General Discussions Forum
Yes we do, but you did not read well what we are talking about. We are talking about 3d trees and not a different texture 😉 Examples found in MSFS and DCS, or Il2 Sturmovik or War Thunder etc etc. I think even Prepar3d introduced Speedtrees some time ago. -
Orbx Releases TerraFlora for X-Plane
Pastaiolo replied to KBUR's topic in The X-Plane General Discussions Forum
I think i would be lovely to have 3d trees at this point instead of 2000000000000 different versions of addons offering 4k textures of trees. I mean, they can vary the offering only that much. But i guess we'll have to wait for papa Austin to turn his eyes towards how ugly trees are (or maybe Ben). -
Like, really? 😛

Historic Real World Weather
Pastaiolo replied to RALF9636's topic in Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020)
I am happy with the usual presets (which were shown in the latest video) + real world weather. I never ever had a reason to use historical weather since i started simming. -
I'm expecting PMDG on day one

Considering that in other sims PBR arrived years ago yeah, i would still call it recent. But fair enough 🙂 -

Have Alpha testers been notified yet?
Pastaiolo replied to AUjeffk's topic in Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020)
It's a social, there is no such thing as trust or not trusting a whole social based on a single event involving some people. Anyway, it's a closed alpha. I am sure with time, either this time or in the next invitation wave, they'll expand the pc config ranges of the accepted testers -

Yeah, legal action for example. Another thing such testing bring is a more or less hidden text in every game view with your nickname or email, or anyway something which can be used to identify leaked screenshots/videos. Depends. Wargaming did so with their games for example. -

Pastaiolo replied to AUjeffk's topic in Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020)
It isn't something that needs to be done before tbh. In my experience on other games, we had regular checks regarding how much feedback we were bringing, how present were we, how often we showed up if there were organized testing sessions etc etc. And those who did not fit on those requirements were kicked out. It really depends on how they have organized it, how much of an alpha it is etc etc -
Nextgen and 2d billboards clouds is one of the biggest contradictions but oh well, not the first time we see such naming being applied to products.. And honestly i am tired of seeing workarounds being sold as products.. Just look at the water part at 3:50.. It's the typical lua water change (which we have plenty of offers on the org too, and for free) which changes things without actually improving them.

Yes but Aeroplane Heaven does not develop for XP11. As far as i know at least. So that looked more of a thing they are doing for the recent PBR in P3D. This was my impression -

Didn't P3D recently implemented PBR tho? It could be related to that too
