  1. Uh. Now I'm scared. Mr. Super-expert. But yeah. Let's just move on...
  2. There is a difference between the annoying detents of the cheap yokes and self-centering. Of course, the yoke still self-centers after the mod, but the detents are gone (like the more expensive ones which don't have any detents). Have you actually ever flown a real plane or a Level-D sim? Or at least ever touched one of the high quality yokes? Or are you just one of those experts around here who claim to know everything by citing opinions they found somewhere on the net?
  3. All the Saitek yokes have those terrible detents which makes it almost impossible to perform a smooth landing. I enhanced mine using the following guide: http://www.avsim.com/topic/351529-finally-a-fix-for-the-saitek-pro-flight-yoke-pitch-axis/ Now it is very nice (apart from the fact that it is still plastic). Before doing the mod, I was thinking about getting the Yoko the Yoke. So if you can afford it then buy the Yoko. If not, the Saitek with the mod.
  4. Lately, David hasn't been around a lot on AVSIM. But he is online every once in a while. Shoot him a PM and ask him if he is willing to put the stuff back up.
  5. But how can you judge how it reacts to stick inputs without actually seeing the stick deflection of the joystick used to make these videos? I haven't seen any videos of the FSLabs on Youtube with a split screen showing the in-sim perspective and the actual movement of the joystick. I bought the FSLabs and it actually has quite some inertia and isn't overly sensitive to joystick inputs. Very nice to hand-fly. Much much better than the Aerosoft version... But let's not derail the thread into a Aerosoft vs. FSLabs discussions. This is a XP topic. I just wanted to make clear that I generally do not like it if people judge add-ons which they don't own themselves. But now, back on topic...
  6. Why shouldn't it work? The software doesn't care where the input comes from, whether it's a yoke or a joystick. It just feels completely unnatural to fly a bus with a yoke. The fly-by-wire of the bus is built such that it gets short inputs which tells the system how the pilot wants to change the attitude of the plane. This is different to a plane with a yoke where you control the control surfaces of the airplane and, for example, hold them in a turn. But of course you can also fly the bus with a yoke. Just feels strange.
  7. No. Both ASCA and REX are texture replacement add-ons. This means that they overwrite bitmap files e.g. for the sky, the clouds, etc. in the sim. If you run ASCA and let it install the textures then any textures that are currently installed in the sim for clouds and sky will be replaced. They will stay there (even if you start the simulator without starting ASCA) until either you let ASCA install other textures or you run REX again and overwrite the textures with the ones from REX.
  8. Have you tried to to switch on the Master Avionics Switch with the standard key combination defined in P3D prior to starting the engines? I don't own the PC24 but this has been a problem with some Carenado planes for me. If I save a standard flight where I have turned everything off (to start other planes in Cold and Dark) then often times the starting procedure didn't work (e.g. in the Carenado PC12). However, when I hit the key combination for the Master Avionics Switch right after loading the aircraft (which doesn't do anything directly) then the starting procedure works just fine. Could at least be something to try...
  9. Unfortunately, I don't know as I only own the PMDG planes for P3D. No FSX versions to compare...
  10. Just completed my first flight from Taxi2Gate EDDM to Aerosoft EDDF v2 on FSX:SE in DX9 at a resolution of 5910x1080 (triple monitors). All this with medium settings. FPS almost never dropped below 20. Even at EDDF I get 25-30 fps. Smoothness is ok (I'm spoiled because in P3D I get a constant 30+ even in the PMDG birds). Free VAS at the gate at EDDF was 600 Mb. However, this is with only the default AI at 10% (so basically no AI) but with ASN. The level of fidelity and immersion is really awesome. Can't wait to fly her in P3D... PS: I'm running a 4770K@4.6GHz and a GTX1070.
  11. Same here. I do not own the fixer and will certainly not buy it because I have only installed FSX to hold me over until the P3D version of the FSL bus has been released. Then I will wipe this ancient piece of software right of HDD again...
  12. Wow. Developers must have been quite successful recently in convincing us that any half-decent add-on must be priced at $100+. I certainly do not consider something which has mediocre graphics and standard FSX functions at $39.99 as being low priced...
  13. Thanks! Then I guess, I can't wait any longer and will reinstall FSX just to fly this bird...
  14. Has there been an official statement on the upgrade path from FSX to P3D? There have been some vague statements that one only has to pay the difference but no official statement. If it is really only the difference then I would purchase the FSX version now to hold me over until the P3D release...
  15. The windowed vs. full screen "issue" will be a non-issue in the P3D version as P3D doesn't have a proper full screen anyways. The full screen in P3D is essentially a window without borders and menu.
  16. I read somewhere that he was already working on Bodo airport in Norway before he started Narvik. So that is most likely his next project.
  17. Have you ever flown the IXEG 737? Then you know what he is talking about. Especially the horrible geometry of the VC in the PMDG NGX with the oversized windows bothers me a lot since I also fly the IXEG which looks ten times more realistic in this regard. And the texturing is also not up to date anymore. I love the NGX but there are better add-ons when it comes to visuals.
  18. I have a slightly different view on that. Of course, they can ask whatever price they want. But asking $100+ is not only bad for us but actually for FSLabs themselves. Given the fact that there is a very decent Airbus add-on on the market which a lot of simmers, casual as well as hardcore simmers, already have in their hangar, I assume that there are A LOT of potential customers which will not buy the FSLabs at this price point (because they already own the other Bus and are not willing to pay $100+ just to get more complex systems). This is lost revenue for them. I'm very confident that they would sell more than twice the copies at half the price. By the way, these are exactly the economics at work for titles like GTA V. And these games have much higher development costs than an Airbus add-on for flight sim. So all this "It is such a complex add-on therefore the price is right" is quite a lame argument.
  19. I'm not a fan of the steep price of the FSLabs A320, but this is really a poor comparison. The electric system of the Bus alone is most likely more complex than an entire A2A aircraft.
  20. Don't be too optimistic. In 2020 it will be "soon"...
  21. Nice video! The scenery, especially the colors, look very realistic.
  22. Yeah. This is really "simming". A 747 into Juneau? Good that it is only simming. ;-) Apart from that: Nice simulator you have there.
