  1. Nice pictures! Do you also use the sky textures from ASCA?
  2. Because most people will want to have the -400 as well as the -8 anyways. And they don't want to buy two products at full price.
  3. Orbx FTX Vector is the right product to get more accurate coastlines.
  4. That is certainly a good indication. I also see a massive fps drop with heavy clouds when I expand the view from 1 monitor to Surround view with 3 monitors. So in these situations I would expect a nice performance improvement with the GTX1070 compared to my GTX780.
  5. This is really a matter of how you run Prepar3d. If you run 1080p on a single monitor with low AA settings then I wouldn't expect much of a difference between the 780 and the 1080. However, if you run higher resolutions and/or high AA settings then it will certainly give a nice boost in performance. Would be great to here from someone who made the switch as I'm also thinking about upgrading my 780 with a 1070. I'm on a triple monitor setup so I would expect to see a performance improvement.
  6. A GTX 1080 coupled with an "old" CPU will mostly likely leave you CPU bound in a lot of situations. In this case the only things where the new GPU will help is when you run 4K resolution, a triple monitor setup or you want to crank up your AA settings. And in cases where you have a lot of clouds. If you are on 1080p then you shouldn't expect a performance improvement in most cases...
  7. It was not my intention to start an argument about what is good or bad feedback. The only thing I tried to say was that I personally cannot identify anything excessively repetitive (let alone annoying) in the pictures posted here. It's just the same as with the stutters. Some just seem to focus on the 1% which isn't perfect instead of enjoying the 99% which is great. I'm personally enjoying the huge step forward in weather depiction achieved by AS16 and ASCA.
  8. Maybe it's just me, but I really don't see any problem with repeated textures. All the posted pics on that topic look great to me. I guess, some people always have something to complain about...
  9. Fantastic shots! I also recently purchased X-plane just because of the IXEG and I'm really enjoying it. X-plane is completely underrated by many in my opinion. Has lots of potential.
  10. Thanks for your opinion. This is very valuable input as I'm also that kind of simmer. Airline flying without overcast and just those nice looking puffy clouds everywhere has become quite boring to me recently. I'm really looking forward to do some real IFR flying once I have purchased AS16+ASCA.
  11. Yeah. Absolutely. That's why I deleted my initial post (and posted it in the right thread). As I said above, I really enjoyed the video! And sorry for the confusion!
  12. Don't really understand why this implicit negativity towards AS16 and ASCA is required. You could have just posted the (very nice) screenshots without any reference to AS16 and ASCA. It's not fair for the developers at Hifi, who put in a lot of work into the new product, that someone who apparently doesn't own it opens a thread with that title claiming that you don't need this product.
  13. DELETED (Sorry, initially posted in the wrong thread) Nice video by the way...
  14. Too bad you couldn't compare the GTX970 to the GTX1080 in Wideview, because this is where I would have expected a more significant step-up in performance. I'm currently running a triple monitor setup on a GTX780 and thinking about upgrading to a GTX1070 which should give some improvement at least in dense clouds. I will report back if I do the upgrade.
  15. Same here. From Erich's pictures AS16 looks really nice. And who said that you don't get overcast without ASCA? Looks good for me with the REX textures. I guess, I will give the free trial a go on the weekend...
  16. Thanks Erich. That is important information for me as well. Solid overcast is really important to me as this is the most common weather situation in central Europe where I fly most of the time. I don't like the ASCA textures (neither the sky nor the cloud textures) but would really love to get AS16. But only if it provides a solid overcast with REX textures...
  17. Rob, is it possible to use ASCA only for the cloud textures and keep whatever other sky texture set is already installed?
  18. What I don't get is why ASCA is required for a solid overcast. I don't like the ASCA clouds on the screenshots that were posted here and want to keep REX Soft Clouds. I was really hoping to get a weather engine that is finally able to display a true overcast.
  19. +1. Would also like to know this as I run ASN over the network and I certainly won't move the weather engine back onto my primary sim PC. So any input on how AS16+ASCA works in a networked setup would be highly appreciated. EDIT: And I would also appreciate a screenshot on how a full overcast looks like from FL300.
  20. Does anyone know if AS16+ASCA in dynamic mode can be run over the network? I'm running ASN on a second computer as this is by far the best way to get rid of stutters in P3D. Don't want to move the weather engine back on the primary sim PC...
  21. Higher resolutions don't have a large impact on VAS consumption. I run a triple monitor setup at 5910x1080. When I go from a single screen to triple screens then VAS usage only increases by 100-150 Mb. Higher resolutions however require more VRAM and a stronger GPU. I also only have a GTX780 which still performs nicely in my setup. But I will upgrade to a 1070 in the second half of the year.
  22. There is a recently released sound set for the NGX from Turbine Sound Studios which does seem to be very nice from looking (hearing) at Youtube videos. However, this is payware...
  23. Me, too. I understand that they completely changed the depiction of wheather in the sim, but will this work alongside a weather engine or is it a weather engine itself? The interview on ADX really doesn't help to answer that question...
