  1. Biggest feature I see is finally being able to change water color.. I can finally get rid of dark blue ocean water, hopefully..
  2. If im not mistaken the rex guys claim it still works with AS if you leave SF running in the background. Im with you though, I dont see it doing anything with AS for a weather engine.
  3. I often wonder if the cloud model sync is doing anything on my network with AS for a weather engine. Yes the button is there to enable it and yes it says in the interface that its working but it just doesnt seem to be as impressive as it is with the rex weather engine on. If you want to run rex for your weather engine cloud sync does work nicely over a network.
  4. Not really surprised by XP numbers. Seems like everything flight sim related that I scroll past now on FB (news or new products) is for XP, devs seem to be flocking to it.
  5. Are you guys enabling the Daedelus repaints with this setup? Will it give you more models with repaints by doing so? Also after running this I still have too many old Southwest liveries, is there anyway I can change this? Thanks again.
  6. Hey guys. I got this up and running and the new repaints show up in the sim but I keep getting a CTD "UCRTBase.dll" any ideas what I should look for? Only using FLAI packThanks. ______EDIT______ I think I got this sorted by fixing the aircraft.cfgs in the error log
  7. Ditch nvidia inspector and enable DSR. Before I went to 4K thats what I had to use to get rid of jaggies, DSR will also allow you to back off the AA in the sim.
  8. Agree with downscc. 250 is too small, I have a 1tb M.2 drive. Faster boot times is the only improvement Ive seen.
  9. Anyone picked up on this yet? http://pcsimulators.org/index.php/flightsimulators/prepar3d/lockheed-martin-interview
  10. The only thing Ive done with my router is assign specific ip addresses for both pc's, I was under the impression that I wouldnt have to change anything else in router settings if I had both machines on a private network (via cable) with the C drives shared. Ill give it a try, Technically I have two configs on the AS machine. One in the my documents folder and one in the simconnect files folder in the HiFi directory. CHange them both? HI Jozef, Im sort of a networking noob, I have no idea what VPN is. Port 500 came from the xml file that was created in the simconnect folder (HIFi Directory) when AS was installed on the client machine, I just copied it think that was the port AS wanted to use. I havent check the ports yet because I wasnt sure which one I should be using, I was gonna test once I had all these entries where they are supposed to be.
  11. This is my XML file that is going in appdata/v4 on server machine. My ports are different than your example Rob but I got the numbers from the ports listed in AS's sim connect file. Does it make any difference? <?xml version="1.0" encoding="Windows-1252"?> <SimBase.Document Type="SimConnect" version="1,0"> <Descr>SimConnect</Descr> <Filename>SimConnect.xml</Filename> <Disabled>False</Disabled> <SimConnect.Comm> <Disabled>False</Disabled> <Protocol>IPv4</Protocol> <Scope>global</Scope> <Address>192.168.1.100</Address> <MaxClients>64</MaxClients> <Port>500</Port> <MaxRecvSize>4096</MaxRecvSize> <DisableNagle>True</DisableNagle> </SimConnect.Comm> <SimConnect.Comm> <Disabled>False</Disabled> <Protocol>IPv4</Protocol> <Scope>local</Scope> <MaxClients>64</MaxClients> <Address>127.0.0.1</Address> <Port>500</Port> <MaxRecvSize>4096</MaxRecvSize> <DisableNagle>True</DisableNagle> </SimConnect.Comm> </SimBase.Document>
  12. So for what Im trying to do, I really dont need the .ini file? However, Just so Im clear on this too, by manually adding you mean create a notepad file with the information in it and name it? Just want to go over the steps once more. All service packs installed on both PCs Install AS on Client Machine Install ASConnect on server machine Simconnect.cfg (with server ip added) in my documents on client machine Simconnect.xml (with server ip added) in Appdata/Roaming/LM/P3DV4 on server machine Also add server ip addresses to sim connect cfg and xml in Client Program Files (x86)/HiFi/AS_P3Dv4/simconnect files Thats it, right? I couldnt agree more. This has been an absolute nightmare, I would even be willing to pay more for 3rd party apps (or even updates) that had 'install and go' network capability.
  13. Thank you, that made the router setup easy. So im reading through your guide, on page 117 youre showing simconnect.INI file in your documents/P3DFiles. I just fresh installed V4.1 and loaded all of the service packs that come with V4. I dont see the simconnect.ini file in my documents. Does V4.1 put it somewhere else? Another question I have is on page 121 with the xml file. You talk about the two ip addresses to edit in the xml, global and scope. Before I was only adding my server (p3d) pc's ip address for global. Where does the local host scope address come from? Thanks for your help Rob.
  14. Thanks for the replies guys, I really appreciate it. Im gonna go over Robs guide and try one more time and if it doesnt work Ill try a support ticket.
  15. Thanks for the reply James. I have watched that video a few times now, double checking my steps and I still cant get it to work. Vic, I thought I read somewhere on HIFis site that they didnt offer networking support or am I mistaken?
  16. Ive been pulling hair out for most of the week trying to get this to work and its about to drive me mad. I cant find any recent how to guides and HiFi doesnt seem to be interested in network support. The guides on HiFis help section were written when folks had windows 7 and FSX, talk of FSX files and service packs just add to the confusion. So, Ive got two Windows 10 machines, both freshly formatted and updated. Connected via ethernet cables to a Linksys WRT1900AC. Fresh install of P3d V4.1 with no add ons. Entire C drives on both machines shared with full permissions. All of the sim connect service packs from Prepar3d/Redist installed on both machines ActiveSky Connect installed on server machine. SimConnect XML and CFG, I have edited and put in my server PCs ip address I have a couple of questions. Do I need to install the Prepar3d SDK on either machine or get any files out of it? Do I need to install ActiveSky Connect on the client machine? I understand a simconnect.cfg needs to be in my documents folder of client PC. Does it need to be a folder labeled Prepar3D v4 Files since thats how its listed when P3D creates folders in my documents? Or is simply putting the cfg file in my documents on client machine enough? I have done everything I can think of to the best of my understanding of how this is supposed to work and all I get when I open Active Sky on client pc is "initializing" "waiting for simulator" and I cant click on any of the options tab. Id be grateful if someone could help me out here or if someone wanted to connect to my machine and try to help. I cant pay much but Id be willing to paypal a few dollars if need be. Thanks
  17. I copied this from Predrag Drobac on FB groups. I hope he doesnt mind me sharing, all credit is his. DID YOU KNOW: You can control when FTX night lights will appear ;) Edit prepar3d.cfg and add DAY_THRESHOLD=32768 under the [GRAPHICS] section. The higher the number - night lights will appear earlier. My current value is 42768 and you can see the lights earlier during sunset. Acceptable entries are 0-65535. Also you can control when the lights will turn off with NIGHT_THRESHOLD=4096. The higher the value, the lights will longer stay on. My current value is 8096. Sadly guys, DAY_THRESHOLD tweak will cause sunglow/lens flare to disappear early too, which I don't like. So, AGAIN, P3D will make you decide what is more important to you, night lights or sun glow/lens flare. Everything, literally everything in P3D is about compromise, two good features can't work in the same time, damn it!
  18. I asked Chris about this. It looks amazing but it is part of Night Environment regions.
  19. Speaking of car traffic, has anyone tried the old method of editing each vehicles speed in their config file to slow down the vehicle traffic? This method has always worked for me but seems like in 4.1 they wont slow down regardless of changing the max speed.
  20. Can someone tell me if I buy the TACPack, is mid air refueling something I can do with the default F16 and F35 ? In other words the tanker is included? Also can I add and fire weapons to the default military aircraft? Thanks.
  21. I have a 6700k @ 5.0 and a 1080ti with a slight overclock. I run 4K so I dont need the higher AA settings. Orbx Vector and openLC with norcal, Flightbeam KSFO, UTL airline traffic at 100% and I get about 26 FPS in TFDI 717.
