  1. I agree with the op to an extent. I will probably never use the online ‘real’ versions as, personally, I feel it’s a step to far and it’d feel a bit sad. Definitely a bit of the immersion pie that’s been missing for ever though.
  2. It is a perfectly valid and reasonable excuse. I’m actually not sure if this post was being sarcastic or not though, so I’ll give it the benefit of the doubt.
  3. I get you, in fact I usually don’t have it on. In that instance though, I do reckon I could get pretty close to that with a nifty fifty (and probably a transparent body so my head could pop through the roof) in real life. Agree with the truck at the front though.
  4. I recently moved my main PC from a place where it was using wifi (and usually getting around 25-50Mbps), to right next to the router and wired - so now getting up to around 500 in the evenings. I may have done this when I got the alpha invite a few weeks ago, just to make sure...
  5. I hope that with so many of the areas that used to be the domain of expensive add-on companies now covered by the core product, we start to see new types of add-on in the mainstream that are a bit more inventive and useful. Just watching this I was thinking how possible it would be now to have actual, in-depth, flight instruction add-ons. You could even do whole series building up from a 152 to a 747. The instructor could even call out markers in the scenery to aim for etc these days. I would buy something like that in a flash.
  6. Never knew Martin keown had gone into flight sim development.
  7. I think they’ve said before that once you’re in the testing pool, you’re in it until release.
  8. It isn’t actually, it’s just a cursor (I should have waited until it disappeared but I’m an amateur :().
  9. Check your junk folders guys. That’s where mine was (an email from Microsoft, automatically placed in my outlook junk folder lol).
  10. I think I’d be puking all over the shop sitting in that...
  11. That’s cool, thanks. I was completely blown away how stunning the world looks around there - you pop over some mountains and suddenly there’s about 200 rivers all winding across the lowland.
  12. No one of my screenshots is in the update. It’s taken near Paro airport in Bhutan.
  13. Well the next test would be whether posting something like that here is a breach of their terms and conditions or not.
  14. Wait for release ideally. Whether the gpu is ok depends on what settings and resolution combination you’re hoping for.
  15. Off the top of my head (and pure guesswork): - building load on the servers - testing different combinations of hardware, different specific bits of hardware, internet speeds etc - adding more people from a broader varieties of countries - increasing capacity for bug and issue identification strikes me that periodically introducing more people into a private, NDA-bound alpha programme would be an odd way of attempting to build hype.
  16. I’m more and more fascinated to see what the Xbox series x will be able to do with this in due course, mainly the ultra fast IO stuff and how that might translate to optimum PC specs in the future, as well as the effect it could have on the sim itself.
  17. I believe it is already accepted by anyone under the age of ~40 or so
  18. If I was laminar I’d try getting xp12 on to UE5. From what I saw a few days ago with the tech demo, it’s billions and billions of triangles and new lod method that basically means no pop-ins anymore is perhaps one of the only chances for them to make msfs look dated in a few years time.
